i've been there, done that, with companies shutting down or removing themselves from a certain manufacturing sector...as soon as the reports surfaced about Abit's engineers leaving, or getting the pink notice, that was the sign it was over for Abit motherboards.

it is a pity...a good company trying to stay afloat but one bad decision after another just stacks against them...mostly, you can point to the top executives for squandering their image and failing to meet board production dates.

lol Fudzilla probally sourced the info from Hexus, if the info came from Fudzilla in the first place I would of taken the info with a pinch of salt.

I believe Hexus as a good reliable source, thats me switching motherboard manufacturer.

Abit IX48-GT3 Hotfoot? It's really strange, Europe always seems to get first distribution before the USA with Abit motherboards, usually 2-3 weeks behind.

Nah not buying another Abit motherboard again, not much point when USI have decided to just give up, USI they never gave the Abit brand enough support with experianced bios engineers to get their boards out on time or market the product better & delve into the oem market more, they got what was coming to them.

Besides no point in wasting all that money on the Abit IX48-GT3 Hotfoot (even though its the cheapest X48 board available) when I only use 1 graphics card, it doesn't look very Air Cooler freindly either i.e. Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120.

I was going to get the Biostar IP45 TPower, but to be honest I'm not bothered how high fsb I can reach etc, looking for something for general use, playing games etc, I'll be buying an Asus P5Q Deluxe, will keep me going till the 2nd generation of Nahelem.

I can get an Asus P5Q Deluxe for only £5 more than the Biostar IP45 TPower.

i feel the same about Abit!..why go there and the board will NOT have any real bios support...so...what you get with the board is what you will live with for a very long time!

i like the Biostar TPower with a dual core..BUT..with a high end (extreme) quad, the board does not shine very well...right now, the bios needs a LOT of work and i am not sure Biostar is up to the task at the moment....they, supposedly, had some (bios?) engineers walk over from abit...maybe, down the road, they will deliver a very good product...right now, i would classify their board as "GOOD"!

on the other hand, i do not feel rosey about Asus' P5Q Deluxe..it has problems too; mostly memory!

Even if it was available, I would not recommend getting a board which you cannot RMA if you experience any problems, and that will have zero bios updates. It's simply wasted money. There's better P45 offerings available for around the same price anyway, from companies that actually still exist.

The really like the uGuru software & bios level fan control on the Abit boards.

I want to be able to switch to an idle profile(I work remotely via RDP a lot) and work horse profile for gaming/video processing. The bios level fan control is also the best I've seen. Call me lucky, but all my abit boards have worked fine (still using my nf7-s v2), I wanted one more abit board which should see me through until other mobos catch up with the same features

The IP35 Pro is an outstanding board and it is a sad day to see Abit go under. Uguru is tough to beat by any standards and it would have been nice to have the P45 chipset with it. The Maximus II Formula is a much better board IMO than the P5Q Deluxe that I sent back. I am able to hit better OC with less voltage and the heatpipe assy being able to install a NB waterblock on top of it so easily makes for a winner.

this board as well as the ix48 will prolly not hit the us. I'll be very surprised if it does, notice that Abit support has not posted in this thread for months? wonder why that is....

well, i was told by gary key of anandtech that he has the IP45 in his hands...sounded like Abit is trying to get the board out...my only concern is bios updates if the board is released.
