My source at Abit have told like this regarding latest rumours of engineers and stuff:

You already know that USI is the mother company of Abit. And USI also has a very good development department for mainboards. And two departments make no sense. So they closed the Abit department. And every engineer could change to USI. Most of them done this but some have changed to other companies. USI seems to do a very good job. Since the both departments joined together we got many good BIOS-updates for our boards.

But as I know USI build the boards for IBM since a long time. So they already know what they do. And also the most of our engineers still working for us with the only difference that they now will get their money from USI and not from Abit.

P45 board with DDR3 you have to wait for a long time. The IP45 GT3 will be the last board we will get. First we will receive the other P45/P43 boards. So we only have the IX38 GT3 and the IX48 GT3 at the moment wich supports DDR3. Still everyone want to have DDR2. So we first release the other boards and after this the IP45 GT3.

Thanks Bulldog, that should mean the ip43pro and ip45pro if we're lucky

    Abit IX48-GT3 Hotfoot Intel X48 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

With Intel®’s brand new enthusiast X48 chipset, you are prepared for the latest 45nm Core™ 2 Extreme/Quad/Duo processors with up to 1333 FSB and faster. A total of 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz system memory offers maximum expandability for this latest memory standard. Dual X16 PCI-E 2.0 offers highest bandwidth for hard core gaming. With the new Smart-Slave technology the power switch frequency can effectively be quadrupled over conventional PWMs. Digital PWMs offer most precise and consistent voltage supply for reduced power consumption, less heat and increased components' life. New Generation Digital PWMs provide maximum accuracy for the best computing experience ever, noise interferences are avoided and energy efficiency is highly increased by realizing ideal resistance ratings (low RDS) during charge-discharge power switching. New generation PCI-E X16 2.0 2 x PCI-E X16 slots support latest dual graphics CrossFireX™ technologies, providing the ultimate visual experience.

Support up to a maximum of 8 GB of dual channel DDR3 1333 memory in 4 DIMM slots. DDR3 saves up to 25% power consumption while scalability and performance are tremendously enhanced. New cooling technology offering the most comprehensive full-board cooling scheme for all mission-critical components. Copper base and dual-heatpipe combo solution make the best cooling equipment. A special 3-pin HDMI audio header provides High Definition S/PDIF audio to be connected with HDMI ready VGA cards, offering crisp HD multi-channel surround sound. These advanced capacitors consist of conductive polymer and therefore offer a vast range of advantages such as higher temperature tolerance, higher ripple current and improved frequency characteristics over conventional electrolytic capacitors. The onboard on/off and reset switches allow for testing your system before installing into your case. Clear the CMOS directly from the back panel, using abit’s innovative new EZ button. If you are pushing your hardware to the extreme and experiment with risky settings, you now have an easy and convenient way to go back to safe ground.

i do not like the height of that NB heatsink....it is going to interfere with the big boy air heatsinks like the TRUE 120...i had similar problem on DFI's X38 board...there tall NB heatsink forced you to orient the TRUE towards the PSU...NO LIKE!

    Solution: Don't use air

Like that clean area around the socket, should be quick & easy to insulate.

The address has changed to http://forum.uabit.com . Well, it actually changed a long time ago when USI bought abit. They just did away with the forwarding address recently.

On a side note, if anyone has particular threads you have bookmarked with the old abit-usa URL in it, all you need to do is change the "forums.abit-usa.com" to "forum.uabit.com" and it should put you right back to where the thread is.

The release of the IX48 is good news, but I only need a P35 or P45. Newegg has a promo going on the 35 Pro XE, I can get it for $140 w/ free shipping until Sept. 1

    http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail...ail-_-E0-_-HAP

What are the chances the P45 will be out by then?

IP43 what a crap layout. Why have all that crap above the DIMMs? move the dimms to the top and then put all that crap below so you can have your PCI-E 16x slot at the top and not interfere with atleast the first PCI slot. I understand its a cheap board but design cant cost much.
