I wouldn't but I wouldn't describe this sound as 'buzzing' though, it definitely sounds like small sparks arcing, giving that typical 'sizzle' sound.

Added to that the pc has been getting more and more unstable, and it definitely seems like something is degrading causing the instability.

I'm going to swap it if I can, and see how it goes. Thanks for the responses.

because i read on the internet, if i set enable this jumper, vdrop = 0...

now i set disable this jumper, although i set enable LLC in the bios, but vdrop still happened...

Is there anything good that comes with the bundled software? I have been noticing the ASUS ACPI Center running in my task manager and decided to do a bit a research into it and come to find out that it might be slowing down my PC and causing stability problems. So I went in and deleted everything and cleaned out the registry to get rid of ACPI and PC Probe plus others. What is the deal here on this software?

Don't think it has got anything to do with the OVP jumper... I never use it as I don't need mega high voltages for my benches and surely not for 24/7 usage...

I only use the chipset drivers, lan and audio... no EPU, no other stuff... I don't like programs working in the background...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Thanks! This is what I did, I went and uninstalled all the ASUS programs in control panel and then I deleted the ASUS folders from the program files. I don't know if that deleted the drivers too. Do I have to reinstall the drivers now or am I fine with what I did?

I had no problems using raid drivers in XP, simply create a floppy driver disc from the motherboard cd then press f6 when installing xp and scroll down to the raid driver.

    Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply. I have measured as well, and came to the same conclusions as you. The marked pin is indeed GND and the other one measures 5,26v here.

Need to find a point in the top side, i'm not gonna remove all the stuff now

That's exactly what I did. I even used the one's from Intel's site as well. All I would find on the floppy was ICH10R SATA AHCI drivers... no mention of RAID. Consequently, when I went to install XP, Windows would never recognize my drives. Vista with the drivers installed already, installed first time without a hitch.

I'm fine with Vista, I just need some RAM. I think my first DOA P5Q-Deluxe toasted one of my sticks of Ballistix.

Intel has removed their chipset drivers as well I have noticed. I think they should start putting their chipset drivers back on their site and start supporting their shiznit a litle better.

As far as I understand SLIC bios hack is used to get past vista activation to activate OEM version illegally.

I doubt this is place to talk about SLIC bioses

    wikipedia quote:
    SLIC (Software Licensing Description Table)

OEM versions of Windows Vista use this newly-released table for activation by Royalty OEMs in order for the end-user to not have problems with activating, called SLP 2.0, or System-Locked Preinstallation 2.0. For activation to work, clients obtained through the OEM channels that have an ACPI_SLIC table in the system BIOS are required to have a valid Windows marker in the same ACPI_SLIC table. The appearance of the Windows marker is important for volume license customers who are planning to use Windows Vista volume-licensed media to re-image or upgrade OEM through the re-imaging rights provided in their volume license agreement. Not having the appropriate BIOS marker results in an error or errors on these systems and prevents them from activating.

Obviously OEM manufacturers use SLIC bioses on some of their OEM systems and in that case it's perfectly legal. However modding bios to look like OEM bios...

What brand was the psu you had that also made a noise even when pc was off?

Apparently the Silverstones commonly make a buzzing sound but it concerns me, I have never heard one do that. Especially when the pc is off.
    Mine doesn't,

They do, 0803, 1103 and 1201 have it, not sure about earlier ones.

**I am still having instability issues though. I can be stable for a couple of hours with orthos then the pc will just reboot itself. Heat is not an issue, board is 35*C and cpu is 38*C (using realtemp) so I have no idea what's going on. I think the board may be damaged in some way. My ram passes memtest but will fail orthos large FFT or the machine will just reboot. However I can pass small FFT orthos, so if the ram is fine, and the cpu is fine, it must be the board I think.

Besides issues when running Orthos do you have any other issues like when playing games exc..? If not then I say chalk it up to bug in Orthos because I had issue with Prime running large but could run small all day and my setup was stable as can be and I chalked it up to the program being buggy with the board. I can run the Intel burn test thing and it clears the test at my setting in my sig with no issues at all. I had to bump my nb voltage to 1.28 but, I had it at 1.26 so nothing big. That's my 2 cents any way.

I keep getting BSOD with the P5Q Deluxe. I've tried everything I can think of...

I get the BSOD randomly. Which can happen with an overclock and at stock. I've tried MEMTest and also OCCT Ram tests for several hours and also done these tests with all 4 sticks of RAM in the PC and each stick singly.
    Both tests 100% fine.

CPU Temps are fine on the Q6600 Quad (38c per core)

I've tried a new PSU... dumped my Seasonic 600Watt and put in a 1000Watt Enermax (I know overkill!) and still the BSOD.

I've tried everything on Default and also setting the voltages manually... still BSOD.

But stressing it for large amounts of time does not cause it to happen.

Is there any way I can get more info from these BSODs so I am able to know where the problem is?

I'm running at the moment Vista Ultimate 64. I have tried Windows XP 32 and XP 64. All have the same issue.
I've tried BIOS 0704, 0803, 1103 now i'm back to 0610 (which is the most stable i've been on this board but still getting BSODs now and then)

    Any help appreciated!

please dont kid yourself, its not stable.

i wouldnt go blaming orthos or prime since we all know P45 is about as weird as a motherboard can get, especially asus models.

Are you running with LLC enabled? Could be that idle volts are not enough so your system reboots. Try upping your cpu volts up a notch and see if it still does it.

I've done exactly the same since I had to start from scratch last week.

Have Qfan running happily from bios, controlling my 3pin chassis fans, and system is completely stable running 3.6 24/7 on bios 803 - tested prime 95 small, large & blend all >6hrs

If I add another couple of sticks of same ram, do you think I can keep current settings? Not a big necessity for me to have 8gb, but only thing I would upgrade in the near future, going to be working with home DVI capture/editing

I used the one from Intel's site that you extract and put on the floppy... it was smaller than the 6mb file you show. I'm on Vista now and everything's fine and dandy.

EDIT: And yes, I am sure RAID was set in the BIOS. That was the first thing I checked.

    Here are my settings:

    FSB : 425 x 8
    PCIE: 100
    DRAM : 1278 // 5-5-5-15 (trfc:40) @2.1v
    DRAM STATiC READ.. : DISABLED
    VCORE: 1.36875(VID=1,3125)
    CPU PLL : 1.58
    FSB TERM. : 1.46
    DRAM: 2.1
    NB: 1.34
    SB: 1.10
    PCIE SATA: 1.50
    LLC: ENABLED
    SPREAD CPU/PCI SPECTRUM : DISABLED

I tried prime95(large FFTs) for about 2 hours and it was stable until 125 minutes ; it gave error on core0 .
Would you give me an advice about my settings?
    Thank you.
