try with one stick , if it behaves then , swap it for the other one... might be you got one bad ram stick... also did you try any other dimm slots ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I pressed and held the reset button on the board until it shut off and then it turned back on itself. It POSTed that time. Give that a go... my first P5Q-Deluxe was DOA, but I didn't try that method.

Has anyone gotten RAID to work on this board? I used the driver CD to make a floppy with RAID drivers on it and it only has AHCI drivers, not RAID and thus, I can't get any further installing Windows.
If you have vista you don't need it.
I'm using WinXP Pro... Can't find the drivers on Asus's site either.

Why don't you download Intel drivers directly from Intel website?

Is your G.skill new? I heared from some German dudes that G.skill used recently new powerchips in their 8000CL5 4GBPQ, and they are incompatible witht he Asus P5Q series.
Also a friend of mine wanted to buy a kit for his P5Q deluxe and the shopowner said they had several RMA because of the newer chips in the 8000CL5 4GBPQ and recommend him not to pick that kit, however older chips works on this board......maybe ask G.skill technician about it. Maybe u can confirm yourself if u have a spare kit of a different brand/chip

    * edit I am sorry I got somehow mixed with another thread , and thought u had the G.skill but u got the ballistix, and those should work espacially good old micron chips.

$199 looks like an ok deal for this board. Think I'll order one. There's plenty of great info here to get a o/c running fast! Thanks everyone.

Thnx, The yellow it is then, what does actually Mem Charger do ? Does it give performance boost in programs like everest, or just for stability? Could this be drive strenght?

I did some testing with different DRAM SRC, strap and Clock Twister, all on 534 FSB.
This is what I came up with:

Not much of a difference, so I then tested 9x445 SRC En./333/Moderate:
    9013-9444-9341MB/s
Judging by these results, FSB matters the most.

    Screens with settings used:

    333/Strong resulted in no boot.

    9x445, DRAM 1069:

    Orthos stable:

Had no luck with 1.26V NB/strap 400 and Strong, so I am not done testing.

This is what I came up with:
yes, 1:1 is much more aggressive then any ratio. as nice as that seems to be it also seems to be the "problem" with high fsb overclocking.

i also tried 465x8.5 with a lower v core and it stoped stable for 22 mins but nothing wants to work not even 450x9. if anyone has any templates for me to try then pm them me. and ill try in the morning. i need my rig rock solid stble for gaming temps not a problem 9800 gx2 and cpu watercooled.

thanks in advance will let you know how i get on
Last edited by davidoff619; 08-15-2008 at 08:19 AM. Reason: sorry by stable i mean prime gets a rounding error not always on the same core which i find odd as 1 core is normaly weaker

it is usually a better idea to gain stable fsb with a low multi first, then add the higher multi later. that way if there is a problem you know its not the CPU.

too much voltage can crash these system just as easily as not enough. lower your voltages to 1 notch above defaults.

Oke there were rumours that the 1201 BIOS would be close to real according to Cryptik, he said with all previous BIOS if u set @ BIOS: 1.96v , in windows Ilde: 1.97 and load : 1.98v. So I just installed my board it came shipped with 0803 BIOS and I was curious about it , so I grabbed my $7 Multi meter and check it out. I set @ BIOS : 1.96v , in windows idle I get 2.04 ( steady), when I run Blend it fluctates all the time between 2.04- 2.05v. After this I installed the 1201 BIOS, unlike Cryptik this BIOS behaved the same : when I set 1.96v it indicates still 2.04 @ windows Ilde and fluctates between 2.04- 2.05 during Prime blend. We just have 2 peeps measured the DIMM @ BIOS 1201 would be nice if some1else could meassure it aswell, so we can be abit more "sure" about it

    *edit I also tried it @ 2.00v BIOS set windows Ilde: 2.07 -2.08 prime blend: 2.08- 2.09

I just tested Vdimm Full Load.... Bios 1201

I am folding right now...... so Bios is set at 1.96 and volt meter reads . fluctuates 1.96-2.0 MAX... cause of folding going on...... so MAX is 2.00 load.

As for idle i don't know yet, but i assume it is around 1.96-1.97v

I will check later on today when i decide to shut folding off.

    guys,
its not just vdimm that overvolted... CPU PLL, FSB term, and NB, all overvolted. especially on AUTO or what was supposed to be the "default" setting.

i got most if not all of my OC by lowering my voltages, not by raising them

    Hi Boyz

I just bought this motherboard and an E8600 and 2x1GB Kingston 12800 CL9 modules wich im able to overclock to 1800Mhz.

The only problem i have so far is that i cant seem to adjust the bass and diskant on the onboard audio.

Does any know how to adjust theese settings?
