Hi..
I'm fairly new to the world of Overclocking and would be grateful for a little advice please.
I would like to get my E6600 2.4GHz Conroe up to 3.6GHz on an air cooling system. However, I keep getting BSODs when testing with Orthos. I don't think it's a temperature issue as when the BSODs occur, it's usually at a temperature which hasn't caused a stop error on a 3.4GHz overclock. So before I go a little mental changing voltages, some pointers would be cool.
System Info:
P5K-E WiFi
BIOS 1102
2GB Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 (4-4-4-12) (currently in black slots)
Sapphire ATI Radeon x1950 Pro 512MB
Zalman CNPS9500 Processor Fan
4 LED Case Fans
550W PSU
Idle Temp @ 3.6Ghz - 27c (Core1 32C, Core2 34C)
Load Temp at time of BSOD - 58C (Temps taken from SpeedFan and CoreTemp)
Does anything there look like it needs tweaking?Code:BIOS Settings: FSB Freq = 400 PCIE Freq = 100 DRAM Freq = DDR2-801MHz DRAM Command Rate = Auto DRAM Timing = 4-4-4-12 Transaction Booster = Disabled Relax Level = 0 CPU Voltage = 1.4875V CPU PLL Voltage = 1.60V FSB Termination Voltage = 1.30V DRAM Voltage = 2.10V NB Voltage = 1.40V SB Voltage = 1.05V Clock Over-Charging Voltage = AUTO Load-Line Calibration = Enabled CPU GTL Voltage Reference = AUTO NB GTL Voltage Reference = AUTO CPU Spread Spectrum = Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum = Disabled CPU Clock Skew = AUTO NB Clock Skew = AUTO CPU Configuration: CPU Ratio = AUTO C1E, Max CPUID, Vanderpool, CPU TM, Execute Disable Bit, Intel Speed Step = Disabled
Is it likely that 3.6Ghz is too much to expect from an air cooled system?
Also, when I initially setup the system, one of the first things I did was to update the BIOS to 1102. I haven't found any reference to that version being particularly buggy but have found plenty of threads/posts where people have been far happier with earlier versions (0603, 1012 & 1013). Would it be wise to try flashing the BIOS with one of those versions? Would that help me hit 3.6GHz in a stable fashion?
Thanks for any advice possible..as I said earlier i'm a bit of a noob so be gentle with me
Cheers.
