I have the P5Q pro stable at 8.5x500 with an E8400 on bios 0901. Basically at first no amount of tweaking could get 500mhz stable it would constantly BSOD but I upped the cpu voltage to 1.4v and it was rock solid stable but what was weird is that it would need 1.4v even at 6x500 the high FSB needs the cpu volts unlike my P35 board.

Thanks for your information mate, i'll give that a try cause i was having problems passing 533 of FSB even with 6 multi on 0703, 0708 and 0901 BIOS's , maybe that would help, i don't get BSOD but yes Prime errors on Blend Mode or trying to 3DMark, on Small-FFT's can run 2 hours though w/o any problem ... if that doesn't helps or it's the GTL's or ... it's the wall of my CPU

Anyway, thanks again

I thought I was getting the impression that the errors with blend were related to bios or board issues?

As far as i know it's probably an issue related to the cpu(fsb)<->nb<->mem communication, those three elements should be synchronized to get the Blend test on and w/o errors, i tried with "appropiate" voltages on every related element but it's not responsing well ... that's what i think it can be a BIOS issue (mostly a Mem Strap, Mem Clock Skew or the CPU GTL's) or a simply FSB Wall (but i highly doubt this since it benched at 4.5-4.6 w/o any problem in the past)

How accurate are the temp readings in 0803? Cause I am getting values that seem a good bit higher than what they should be. 50 degrees for cores 0 and 1 idle on RealTemp, I cant find anything to put it under more than 30% load. It goes up to about 54 at that stress level.

Also, where in the bios is the option to change memory command rate from 2T to 1T?

Lastly, I can't get the asus probe program to work. I get a "abnormal program termination" error whenever I try to launch it. Is there any other compatible software to adjust CPU fan settings with?

I am about to give up on mine, might even return to the 680i i had before. CPU ran flawless at 4100Mhz and now i can't get it past 3600 stable. Tried everything even pushed VCORE to 1.45, NB to 1.50, tweaked GTL, tried different FSB speeds and RAM settings... just no go

This E8400 needed 1.42 volts on the nVidia motherboard for 4100Mhz, thought it would need a tad less to do the same here but apparently not even 3800... Runs incredibly stable at 1.2v when clocked at 3600Mhz though.... weird.

Thid board does easily 500FSB with a wolfdale and 4ghz too if ya setup/hardware combo is good...

I would seriously reconsider ya mount of ya cooler... bios doesn't (normally) influence coretemp readouts... no option for command rate to my knowing... and ya Asus proggie error could be due to a bad ram setup and or corrupted install...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

3 hours in orthos is too little?
I run 3 hours on orthos, and run one hour in occt, and both were stable.
looks good for me. What do you think?

24/7 rock stable summer OC, it's too hot here to push CPU&MEM further

E8400, 2x2GB PC2-9200 OCZ FlexII, P5Q Dlx

1.96 vdimm, 1.34 vNB, PL8+Pulls enabled, no tweaked RAM timmings.

BTW I've been disconnected for some days, any better BIOS than 0702?

You need to set the sb to 1.2 so it doesn't overvolt for one. and 1.6 on pcie and try 1.58 on cpu pll.

How do you mean set sb at 1.2 so it don't overvolt?? It is at 1.1 so will 1.2 (.1 higher) actually stop it overvolting??

Yah some one posted about it a little while back. The board over volts on certain things when they are set to default.

Hey STaRGaZeR, any chance of posting your BIOS settings here? Trying to make my E8400 work like yours but no luck until now. Starting to think the problem is 4x1GB instead of 2x2GB. My RAM is Team Xtreem Dark Series PC2-8500, should work ok i guess.

tried a bit more Vcore ? tried pll on auto ? I would give these a shot :

CPU Voltage: 1.32
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): AUTO
CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): AUTO
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.56
FSB Termination Voltage: 1.3
DRAM Voltage: 2.12 (this is 2.2 in reality rams okay with that ?)
NB Voltage: 1.26
NB GTL Reference: AUTO
SBridge Voltage: AUTO
PCIE SATA Voltage: AUTO

Load Line Calibration: Disabled

then test Small FFT's for a while... if all okay go with blend... if one core caps out just up a bit more Vcore... you got a 65nm CPU they love voltage better than 45nm

Please help!

Hi, guys I am having a ton of problems overclocking with the P5Q deluxe, here is my set-up

Q6700 G0 (VID 1.3250)
Asus P5Q-deluxe (Bios 0803 from ASUS website)
Gskill DDR2 1000 5-5-5-15 at 2.1v
Zalman 9700 heatsink/fan
NZXT Tempest Case
Zalman 750watt PSU

I have been trying to hit 3.4ghz at under 1.4 CPU vcore and so far am unstable after about 20mins in prime95(large FFT test). I have tried 10x340, 9x378 and 8x425 with a FSB strap of 266 and auto. I have left all my other voltages on auto. I don't know what to put for..

NB Voltage
SB voltage
FSB Termination Voltage
FSB Strap to NB
CPU GTL voltage reference 0/2 and 1/3
CPU PLL Voltage

I know the above voltages will probably be determined by which FSB/Multi I use so lets just start with 10x340 unless a lower multi/higher FSB would be better. Some things I have set in the bios were....

PCIE Frequency- 100
AI Clock twister- Auto
AI Transaction Booster- Auto
Load Line- Enabled
CPU Spread Spectrum- Disabled
PCIE Spread Spectrum- Disabled
C1E Support- Disabled
Max CPU ID- Disabled
Intel Virtualization Tech- Disabled
CPU TM Function- Enabled
Execute Disable Bit- Enabled

Sorry for this being so long but at anything over 1.4vcore my temps get way to high(near 65C) partly because of the high summertime room temps. I have been asking for weeks on the ocforums and nobody there has been able to help me. I hope I can find good help here, Thanks!

Thanks tons man, but I noticed the FSB was at 8x400, that would only put me at 3.2ghz is it supposed to be 425? I don't know if that would let me run at 1000mhz on my memory. I think my memory will go up to about 1010-1020 but i haven't tested it at anything over 1002

Try the settings first, maybe we can bump up to 3.4-3.6 later on... but I think you need better cooling for the quad to keep it cool or run the Zalman flat out...
I just want to know the Vcore required for 3.2ghz... hopefully at or below 1.3Vcore , but that's for you to find out... by testing it a lot... I usually let the CPU run Prime Small FFT's for an hour if it passes I lower Vcore and test again... till it fails, then bump up one or two settings...

If ya find ya correct Vcore then try to run it with eg PLL not at 1.6 but at 1.56, if it fails then go up to 1.58 and test again... it takes some time to know what ya CPU likes and sadly there's no general rule, surely not with 45nm, 65nm is way easier

good luck

I have had 8x400 stable at 1.33125. I am currently semi-stable a 10x333 at 1.39 but that is with all voltages on auto. Can I try your settings with 10x340 or 9x378? 425x8 only lets me use 851mhz(1:1) and 1021mhz for memory and I haven't got my Gskill DDR2 1000 stable at 1021 but I haven't tried, I noticed you have the same memory as I do and have got it at 1066, how did you do that? I will probably use your settings but 8x425 and 851mhz(1:1) and see how that works. Thanks tons man, this is the most help I have got in weeks from anywhere!

Try 8 x 400 plz with my settings... with this setting you can also run your ram at 1066Mhz if you wish... higher FSB is always better than lower FSB with higher multi for rambandwith... I would try to find out the lowest stable values for eg 3.2 with PLL and co... and then try to go higher on CPU speed... but keep them cores below 65°C plz...

Jesus, Leeghoofd, i don't know what kind of magic was in your settings, but the PC is oh so completely different now!

I guess it was a mix of things which i won't have the patience to look up (still suspicious of something RAM related), but whatever, it's working perfect now!!! I'm just gonna tweak it up a bit more, make sure it's perfectly stable and then i'll post my results here. Meanwhile i can put some voltages i measured while testing:

- vNB in BIOS: 1,20, measured with Digital Multimeter - 1,24 (Increased 0,04v)
- vDRAM in BIOS: 2,22, measured with Digital Multimeter - 2,30 (Increased 0,08v)
- vFSB in BIOS: 1,16, measured with Digital Multimeter - 1,16 (No Vdrop)

Tested PRIME95 SmallFFTs and Blend plus 3DMark2006 - no worries @ 4050Mhz.

Thanks again, you got
