800SPs has already been confirmed due to TFlop numbers.
Now we wait for TMU confirmation.

It seems R700 should be in available in 8 weeks, and there is no official name for it yet.

Hell yes its a mini-ITX gaming rig!
A guy on a another forum has been saying that the HD4870 is basically as fast as HD3870X2 in games that scale well in Crossfire and faster in games that dont scale that well like Crysis.
Results he gave on the two most demanding games.
QX6850 @ 3.0ghz
4gb ddr3 1066
Vista Ultimate 64
Crysis Very High 1920 x 1200
GTX 280 34.2 fps, HD4870 26.9 fps
Lost Planet 1920 x 1200 4 x AA
GTX 280 38.7fps, HD4870 29.86 fps
Scores are good imo, especially if Crossfire scales well..
Finally some facts, R770 has only 160 SP which are capable of 5 operations per cycle (that's where they concluded the 800 SP). 40 TMU's should bring enough balance for this configuration.
That is pretty much what I am begining to expect, RV770Pro = 480SP. RV770XT = 800SP
I am hoping that the HD4870 leans more towards 9800GX2 performance than 9800GTX as I am looking to upgrade from a 8800GTS
pop two of those in and then you will be faster than G280GTX (if software supports Crossfire).
If the HD480X2 is going to be any good it better have 2GB of RAM or a vast new improved multiGPU technology otherwise it is going to be the same old problems which can effect the GX2 and HD3870X2's due to 512MB of RAM percore?
John
You are very wrong. There is only one RV770 chip, and it has 800 Stream Processors or 160 shader processors with 5 stream pr. in them.
There is no 480 Sream proc. RV770 chip ,there never was.
To check this, you should look at Firestream 9250 thread in which AMD claims 1TF for basically Radeon 4850 with 1GB of frame buffer memory! One teraflop = 625Mhz x 2Flops x 800

hmm crossfire 4850 23fps in crysis very high 1920x1200 @ 4aa
Well with 3 GHz Phenom.
Thats quite... fast?
Way faster than GTX 280 and much cheaper![]()

cpu really doesn't matter at that res, it may hinders the min fps, but it only marginaly influences the avarage fps.
im still searchign for a review with 1920x1200 @ 4AA but i only can find some with 2AA right now -> 280GTX 28fps 260GTX 23fps
really you've tried then?
Friends shouldn't let friends use Windows 7 until Microsoft fixes Windows Explorer (link)
