Launching at $499 makes more sence to me than dropping the price only 3 weeks after the launch. And, of course, in the absense of the new ATI products, the actual retail price will end up higher in the first 3 weeks. If they drop the price afterwards, it will look to everyone that they are worried about competition from ATI
