I see where your coming from but some people really don't mind paying a bit extra for higher performance, even if the price/performance ratio isn't that great.
I think everyone has a different tolerance, but personally I won't go below a 3.5:5 ratio of performance-to-price... i.e. if I'm spending $250 on a card vs. $500 on a card, and the $500 card is only 20% faster, it's a 20%-to-100% price difference, thus 1:5 ratio of performance-to-price = no sale.
