But $600 for 2 drives seems a lot for me, with 1 I would be so happy

What numbers do you get running HD Tune or HDTach? I have 2 VR in Raid0 but they suck in my 780i. A week ago, when I used them on my DFI LT X48, I got a burst speed of 460MB/s. Now I get 390MB/s. The result in HD Tune is even worse.

No idea, I'm just reporting what happened! However Toms Hardware did report problems with the Raptor, and stopped using them in their Vista test system.

I have just ordered an Adaptec 5405 Raid Controller (with 256MB of onboard cache and a 1.2GHz dual core processor!!!), so I will post the figures I get with that later in the week. Look at the improvement MaximumPC got with four Raptors in Raid using this card!

These HDTach results are using the long test, the short test gives 172MB/s average read, 340MB/s burst and 7.2ms random access.

These are a lot faster than the raptors, and massively cooler and quieter! When I get the raid card tomorrow I will redo the benchmark!

Have you tried the 0801 bios yet, I can run 1800/2000 unlinked for the first time with it. However it is not quite stable at the settings I had on 0704, back to those GTLS!!!

Im going to run that app to see how fast my raptors run I would also love to try one of those VRaptors, but $300 is out of budget for me

Im on 0801, booted and surfing the web right now. Will leave it priming at night. Im also going to see if this BIOS fixed my SLI issues.

Overclockes better? Will check that as soon as I finish with the SLI stuff

EDIT: Im so annoyed that I still have the SLI issue that I dont have any reason to keep pushing my cpu/ram. Will wait for a BIOs that fixes SLI issues first, then keep pushing system.

Bah! I feel like I have a laundry list of what could be causing instability issues:

    790i Chipset
    Raptors
    Quad-SLi Hardware
    Quad-SLi Drivers
    OCZ Memory on the 790i

I'm almost ready to give up and live with the occasional BSOD I get once a day.

Mainly the boards with Intel chipsets.

    Sorry couldn't resist

Actually I shouldn't be one to rip the Nvidia chipsets as I've been running 790i for about a month now and haven't had any corruptions issues. Or major issues at all for that matter (knock on wood).

Well yeah if you want to be 100% free of corruption go Intel or AMD

And just to answer your question, SIIE is fixed with 0704 and eVGA with P05, however, some people still suffering from corruption. Dont know what to say about that.

Ya sure? Dinos was saying no reports of corruption since P05 for the reference boards.

Seems the Asus board has had more trouble then the references so far i think

Well go to eVGA forums and see it by yourself. Not 1 but 1000.

Keep in mind, eVGA is now in production 3 and some people still complain, some about corruption, some about OC etc

let's stick to some factual information...i've sifted through a few pages and it certainly doesn't look as bad as you are making it out to be

i bet that ppl that are having real issues are in minority now

also if i experienced issues in the past i would use a completely different hard drive to check now

i have been honest and upfront about my corruption from the get go and i definitely put my board aside as i just could not bother any more...........

with P05 i have now also purposefully tried booting with completely unstable settings to try and corrupt my OS without luck.....OS still loads when i back down a little

Thank you for the numbers. I think I'm going back to my X48 as soon as they release HD4870 cards. I subscribe MaximumPC and saw the review. The improvement is awesome but it's too expensive.

Well for some reason, everytime I go and check I see people complaining about corruption still not fixed.
I dont know, they are probably doing something wrong because as you said, is not about just updating BIOS, but to do a fresh installation of OS too and format the drive just to make sure.

I also tried hard settings, windows wouldnt load or I would freeze in BIOS screen but never corrupted my system which makes me think that people are too lazy to start from the beggining. If you are experiencing corruption

    1) format the drive
    2) fresh install of OS
    3) if 1 & 2 didnt work, OC from scratch

    Same here.
    If it's not going to corrupt my drive at Linked/Synch at QDR2100 / DDR3-2100 7-6-6-21 1T 1-1-5-20-1-1-1-52 I don't think it's bout to happen again.

    S2E BIOS 0801 used.

Slim, fresh installs of OS it´s what i´ve been doing almost daily in this DAMN board!!!!
I STILL HAVE CORRUPTION with BIOS 0704 and 0801 when i run memory LINKED AND SINKED...
And it´s not the RAPTOR´s, i´ve been instaling the OS on my SEAGATE´s and have the very same problem.
When i mean CORRUPTION, i mean it fails the SFC test, the OS boots ok but it always fails the SFC test, i´ve tried raising voltages in NB and SB, but made no diference.
A keep having windows dreamscenes artifacts with BIOS 0701,0702,0703,0704 and 0801 but not with 0603. This artifacts grow in number when the computer is doing memory intensive tasks. For example if i run everest ,and run the memory benchmark i see artifacts all over the screen....
With BIOS 0603 i play Crysis for hours without any glitch, with later BIOS is just stops working after 1 or 2 minutes with the driver as stopped worked and was recovered...

    Hello guys
I've been using the EVGA 790i SLI board for about 3 weeks. I wasn't aware of this corruption issue and tried with the shipping P03 bios first and corrupted my windows setup 3 times in 2 days. Then I found out about it and upgraded my Bios to P05. Even so it didn't solve all the problems but it sure helped the issue a lot. After the flash procedure I had corruption two more times in 2 weeks. And for now it seems to be stable for about a week or so. My setup is like this :

    Evga 790i
    Intel QX9650 and E8500 (sometimes)
    2x1GB Super Talent 2000 MHz (9-9-9-26)
    512 MB Zotac 9600GT AMP
    WD Raptor 150 GB
    Silverstone 850 Watt PSU

I am now using my E8500 cpu at 5200 mhz - 9.5x547 with vapochill. My ram are working in unlinked mode at 1790 MHz 8-7-6-20 at 2.0 volts. My vcore is 1.70 volts and SPP voltage is 1.45 volts. The others are set to auto. I am afraid to stress my sticks and try higher frequencies with CL7 timings because whenever I do it the windows setup can get corruptted after a numerous number of unsuccessful boot trials. You can say that it's bc of my trials but normally I didn't get this kind of behavior from other Intel chipsets.

I am now using the above settings and everything seems to be ok for a week like I said but the issue is not %100 solved. I just want to point out that P05 can still make these issues.

    S2E BIOS 0801 used.
Maybe you should ask M@G!C for his settings because he is living a nightmare.

I understand how you feel. I hate to take 20 mins to install the OS and all that crap.
Benchz said SFC should not be used as a source to indicate corruption. He mentioned long ago he got error with another board (x48 I believe).

Have you tried stock settings and see if you get those artifacts? Are you sure your sticks are 100% working? Maybe a defective video card?

The artifacts only happen if i run 1800Mhz on memory even unlinked and unsynked. If i run memory at 1600Mhz no problem at all. My sticks are 100%.
