And yet you forget the Oc'ability... you have to compare a pre OC'ed 512 with the 9800GTX to get same performance out of the box... , for benching yeah I would push ram at 2200mhz, but I would never run them at those speeds 24/7 I had for clients...

Each generation of cards can be an evolution or revolution... let's hope ATI and Nvidia can bring something like 20% on top of the current high end products...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Intel's i740 is well up there... after all, it's the father of Intel's GMA.

Thats the TDP(Thermal Design Power), but it doesn't mean the card(s) use 250W/170W load.

My guess is around 200W full load for the GTX280, and 140W load for the HD4870.

Possibly yes, but you should consider buying a PSU that can offer a maneuvering margin to one that is pushed to the limit.
    Are we there yet?

Only if you didn't buy from EVGA or XFX or live in a country not covered by a step-up policy. Otherwise get those suckers on Ebay NOW. In the past haven't clear photos like this and real looking info meant less than 6 weeks before actual release? When they are farther from release Nvidia is usually able to keep a better lid on such leaks. So maybe we are talking a mid to late June release. I'm a bit nervous since my step-up expires at the end of June. This is twice in a row that Nvidia has done this with the GX2 cards. 'Fool me twice' and all that. I think in a couple of years when they try this again very few people wiill be biting. They should release the GX2 cards within months of a new architecture instead of just before EOL.

    @ Milos-stancene

shure, even a very good 400w psu can handle that (only very few, though)

edit: aah, youve got an enermax 500w too
*looksonbox* hmmm, those 12v lines are supposed to bring 384 watts (dont believe that, though), so it shouldnt be a problem (no guarantee)

the "über" cards from nv since the 7xxx series allways where "near EOL" products, milking out the last drop of the enthusiasts.

I've been using a single 8800GTX @ 630/1900 since nov '06 and now I'm considering an upgrade. This card still handles all games with ease, but I'm thinking about picking up a second one for SLI. But now that the 9900GTX is nearing, do you think a single 9900GTX would be able to outperform dual 8800GTX's @ Ultra speeds? Or should I just sell the 8800GTX (nvidia reference card) and wait for 9900GTX?

    tough decisions...

try to get rid of that 8800 gtx as quickly as possible (more money) and buy a gtx 280 (faster than sli, no issues), if youve got 400$ to put onto the 150-200$ youll get for the 8800

edit: lol, those prices on ebay are so ridiculously high, so you can expect even more
