Looks like it does on that last picture, there are posts protruding off the 'bottom'.

Yep looks like there is indeed a backplate
Tomshardware already has 9900GTX? Look at the device manager screenshot.

so.. can we declare the 9800GTX2 the worst investment ever ?
At least in my eyes in those pictures it looks very legit. Hopefully some of the chinese forums surprise us soon.
Yep I always thought that about the card (if you mean 9800GX2) since launch as I was pretty much expecting this, no optimized drivers that work properly and only a few months life. Well 7950GX2 didn't seem to be much better purchase either and I don't think these kinda cards ever will as long as it'll be a "one-model" case only as they tend to get expensive, have driver probs and are introduced at end of current gen's life to desperately "fool" some users not being able to wait a lil longer. I don't think NVIDIA should even bother releasing GX2 cards.

It is shorter.
You were not supposed to see this.
sory , but i cant agree with this :
- no optimized drivers that work .
- driver probs.
did you ever tested a 9800GX2?
i have a GX2 for 2 months now , and i never had driver problems , best card i ever tested !
btw: last rumors even said Nvidia plans to release a new revision of 9800GX2
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 Cards to Get New GPUs?
NVIDIA was reported today to plan on changing the G92-450 GPUs found on current GeForce 9800 GX2 cards with an updated G92-451 parts. However, the transition will be almost invisible as the G92-451 is pin to pin compatible to G92-450. Cards won't need even an updated BIOS. The reason for this change is due to improved manufacturing yields and ensured continuity of NVTTM production supply. That's also the part where previous reports of NVIDIA shortening the life-span of GeForce 9800 GX2 become somewhat doubtful.
VR-Zone
Expensive , yes i agree (at launch time) , now the prices are lower ( here in PT already went from 550€ to 450€) and i think the price maybe go down with the GT200 release , but i cant agree with driver problems and no optimized drivers !

I don't own one and never tried one but I read a lot of hardware/GPU related forums etc being familiar with other people's problems. It's not like every person will have a problem with them but I always compare things like if you take X amount 9800GX2 users (preferable a high number such as 10,000+ or something) and compare them to similiar amount say 9800GTX users, the 9800GX2 users will more often report driver related problems.
Now it's probably a great performing card but everything's relative... is it really worth paying that much for the card that in a few months will be beaten by new cards and possible offering something new for similiar cost. Now this point is a subjective opinion though which doesn't have any right/wrong answer, just depends how much money and performance is worth to you.
I'm pretty certain though in a global vote for "what's the worst GPU investment ever?" poll 9800GX2 would be high up in the list. But that doesn't mean of course that some people will find the product fine as we people are so different, have different view on things etc so what matters to me might not mean anything for you etc.
Sorry if I hurt your subjective feeling though, the problem is I tend to stick highly objective on forums these days to avoid useless flamewars and this might hurt some people's subjetive feelings in the discussed topics. I don't have anything against satisfied 9800GX2 users despite my view on the 9800GX2 card though that's for sure.![]()

we have to wait for benchs and final prices of GTX280 and also see the price of GX2 at that time !
Anyway , i think most ppl who bought a GX2 3/4 months before the GTX280 release dont have any problem to upgrade again to GTX280 losing some $$ (high end /enthusiasts users)
btw: 9800GTX also was released only 3/4 months after the 8800GTS 512mb and cheaper !
this is hardware world , get used to it !

As much as I want ATI to win this round to balance out the market share, I've been hearing far worse things about the 3870x2's drivers, and notice how people were selling their 3870 xfire setups even when they were brand new? Its because (from what I've heard) the CCC can be very hard and annoying to deal with and its been only been lately with 8.3 and 8.4 that things have finally started to work smoothly
No its not, what are you talking about? Newegg generally has some of the best prices in the world (once prices settle that is lol) and the 8800gts 512mb is definitely a lot cheaper
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...800gtx&x=0&y=0
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...gts&name=512MB
That's a $100 difference between the lowest gts and lowest gtx
LOL , i was talking about launch prices !
but even now , here in PT i can get a 9800GTX for 245€ , and 8800GTS for 190€ (55€ dif) !
btw: im waiting for a GTX280 and maybe a HD4870 for review , then i post results in reviews section like always !

9900GTX and Enermax 500watt ... is it possible?
How much did you pay for ya 8800GTS 512 ? I payed over 400 euro's for mine when released. While I got a 9800GTX last week for 220 euro's , both are eVGA cards... launch prices can be rough... and if you want an OC'ed GTS 512 you better get the 9800GTX...
Sidenote : the price of the 9800GTX is fab, don't see why so many peeps hate it... (just because of the misleading name maybe)
And the Egg is dead expensive in my point of view, I can get far better prices than that in Europe...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
That's was exactly my case last week, when I finally get rid of my pair of 3870's, being quasi-usable under Vista64 (but damn fast when it worked, actually), and now I'm idling temporarily with an oldie 2900XT until ATi or NV pull the hottest rabbit, to replace.and notice how people were selling their 3870 xfire setups even when they were brand new?
you know that 220€ are 340$$$???, and the 8800gts 512 is 150€??? 70€ for 100 mhz more shader clock and 25mhz more on the core+ram is not worth it, no matter how you look at it
9 series are a joke compared to the 8 series (and the 9600 is only 20 less than the 8800gt so....)
