    Question

Not sure who to ask but: here is a good question

using the memset I can set the tref to the highest setting of 16383t it gives me ~ 159mb more in sandrathan 2600. How can I set that in the bios?

Seems like a very important setting that used tobe available on the nf4 dfi boards and make a huge imapacts on the p35. Why dfi has not put it in the bios? It clearly can be accessed.

DFI should do something in this case for the community.

New beta bios out. 5/02/08. Doesn't seem too exciting but does contain an important fix for anyone running into the following problem.

    Major Reasons of Change:
The system can’t boot up in windows Vista 64bits when The motherboard with Intel Q9650 CPU and EIST function was disabled.

Anyone care to see if anything else has changed?

@cantankerous: thanks for the heads up! hmm seems like there's no need for me to update to the 5/02 since i'm not using a Q9650 nor a 64-bit Vista

My thoughts exactly though we have been surprised in the past with bios updates do much more than what is listed in the changelog.

The main reason I am not flashing is because then I will be downgrading my SATA RAID rom bios which Praz was kind enough to inject into the 3/17 bios. If the 5/02 bios has the latest 7.6.0.1011 I may flash just to be latest.

ok some things i noticed in the 05/02 Beta bios...

    1) under Clock Setting Fine Delay...there's an option "Tfine Item Value Degree" with default at 120ps (options run from 10-160ps)

    2) under Voltage Settings...new option after CPU VID Control, "CPU VID Special Add LIMIT" with option either Enabled or Disabled

    3) some typo..."Rea5 elay phase adjust"

have no idea what these do since i didn't have the time to play with the settings.

Ah, thanks for testing emoners! I knew there would be other stuff added but not noted. That is typical DFI style.

Can Praz perhaps shed some light on this Tfine Item Value Degree and how it can benefit us? I am sure the other listing is self explanatory to avoid adding too much vcore through the % setting.

Emoners, would you mind sharing what SATA RAID ROM bios is present in this release? Is it 7.5.0.1017 or the newer 7.6.0.1011? If it is the older one I hope Praz would be kind enough to inject the newer one into this new beta for us all =). Sorry for dumping so much on you Praz, but you really do come in here with all the answers and are an invaluable source to us users of this board.

If i am right these new settings have something to do with the Tref.Much better to tweak them now as the old value we know was based still with these degree and a multiplier. Now it's just easier to tweak.

I've booted right up with the Gskill 2x2gb 1066 sticks without issue or need to manually adjust tRFC.

I need some help here, I just got a LP LT with the latest bios, and moved my Q6600 to it.
I disabled vdroop control, up vcore to 1.3000, up FSB to 400, set ram to 333:667 and left everything else untouched.
Small fft and OCCT cpu would run for hours without problem, however large fft and OCCT ram would error in 10 seconds. I am running 2x1g ballistix tracer 6400 (old double sided), so they are well within spec. What is going on here? Is there some ram parameter I am missing?

Try upping the NBcore (first), and if that doesn't help, adjust the NBGTL/VTT voltages.

I have found that adjusting the GTL settings for 9 x 400 fsb is not necessary.

As always, YMMV. I had to adjust my GTLs to get it 100% stable. (I'll post it later, I don't remember and I'm not rebooting my PC tonight).

Can someone tell what GTL setting corresponds to which core? meaning GTL 0/2 corresponds to core 0 and GTL 1/3 to core 2 (i have an E8400) ?
    Thanx..

Yes, you don't really need it if your fsb is not over 450MHz at least. You use it if radical increase in vcore doesn't bring any improvement, then, i at least, use GTL settings to make it more stable.

Just as it shows. For dual core GTL 0/2 controls core 0 and GTL 1/3 controls core 1.

Anyone know the cause of a high pitch squealing sound coming from a Brand New P35 LT and what I can do to fix this or is this beyond my Control, this could be the 2nd MB I send back for an RMA within 1 week.

It's probably the mosfets squealing. If you have a quad, it puts stress on them.
