Did a quick check on my E8200

    Readings :

    BIOS : 1.18V
    CPU-Z : 1.188V
    Coretemp 0.98.1 : 1.0750V
    Realtemp 2.5 : 1.1875V

    Hope it helps.

If you go into the INI file for CPU-Z just set Sensor to OFF:

and instead of it reporting your actual voltage it will display the VID of your chip.

I'm a little biased here as well. I just released RealTemp 2.5 which also displays VID and I'm interested in finding out which program is right. I think Intel and CPU-Z have a pretty close relationship and I tend to trust CPU-Z. I think CoreTemp might be reporting VID too low on the new 45nm chips.

Welcome aboard. I was hoping to see more results from the Newegg e8400s since they have had an uninterrupted supply and okay price for almost 2 weeks now. Keep pushing up the FSB and show us some stability tests.

Anyways, I'm having a problem getting my retail E8400 prime stable @ 4.5GHz. Heres my original thread on ocforums, http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=544212

    My current setup consists of a lapped E8400 (batch Q746A381), a lapped Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, 4GB of G-Skill DDR2-8000, Abit IP35-E (BIOS 14) and a Corsair HX620 PSU.

Basically is that the best BIOS for overclocking Wolfdales with? I have my NB @ 1.41 volts, SB @ 1.6, CPU VTT @ 1.23, and vcore @ 1.58actual after vdroop (according to CPU-Z). That voltage seems kinda high for only 4.5GHz, so I'm wondering if theres some other voltage I'm not increasing enough. I haven't seen many (or any at all) Wolfdale results on the IP35-E, so I don't exactly know what I'm shooting for. I know my RAM is capable of running 530MHz FSB, and I took my board that high on my old E6300.

Have you read through this thread? Only 98 pages to plow through ... You should be able to determine if the memory (dividers or lack thereof) will hold you back and if there is a 4x1GB penalty to be paid. But I believe most of the Gigabyte mobos will have plenty of FSB to get you there with the 9 multi. Seems doubtful your heatsink will be able to handle the heat at load at 4ghz, although you never can tell. If you're worried about the CPU just try to keep it @1.4v or less.

4.05 GHz is set as my "failsafe" setting. Whenever I hit a wall and need to go back to a safe config, these are what I use:

    (Q745A567, Pack date 1/4/2008)

    Multiplier: 9
    FSB: 450
    PCIE Freq: 110
    CPU Voltage: 1.232v (actual)
    CPU PLL Voltage: 1.5v
    NB Voltage: 1.25v
    DRAM Voltage: 2.14v (PC8500 @ 2.2v)
    SB Voltage: 1.050v

Everything else is set to auto, then I tweak things from there.

    **********************************************
    **********************************************

For 4.2 GHz all my settings remain the same, except that I have to increase my FSB to 467 and bump my VCORE up to 1.272v (actual)

He will prolly need abit more than 1.23 volts for 4ghz as he already needs 1.22 for 3.6Ghz to be stable... prolly be around 1.35

    Nice CPU Vixx
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

I have a e8400 and i'm glad for what I get, the thing is that it needs lots of Vcore to be very very happy. Maybe will it appreciate subzero temperatures??... I will see when my autocascade gets repared.

How voltages have to be increased for my chip to run stable@3000, 3500, 3750 & 4000Mhz (fsb@500)
    Small fft test (minmum 1h)
    strap333
    ratio ram-fsb 2.00B(500mhz)cas7 vddr@stock
    vcore bios 1.2000v
    vfsb / vmch / vpci-e@stock
    GTLRef1 +3% / GTLRef2 -3%
    loadline calibration on:

    vcore bios 1.2435v
    vfsb +0.2
    vmch +0.225
    vpci-e +0.2
    GTLRef1 +3% / GTLRef2 -3%
    loadline calibration on:

Only the vcore had to be changed to (bios) 1.3200v for this test:

    Blend test 4h10
    strap333
    Ratio ram-fsb 3.20B(800mhz)cas7 vddr +0.55
    1.41875 vcore bios
    vfsb +0.20
    vmch +0.275
    vpcie +0.20
    GTLRef1 +3% / GTLRef2 -3%
loadline calibration on: Here we do see the vcore drop: -0.026v from bios to load witch isn't that bad I think (?)

    finish line

    currently running with bios f7b.

Just upgraded from amd socket939, likin my new e8400, currently stable @ 480fsb with synced ram, over 490fsb wont pass orthos blend for any length of time. Though i can boot vista 64 @ 501fsb which is promising for a relatively cheap mobo.

Currently set my nb an sb to 1.52v and ht is 1.46v, cpu z is reporting vcore @ 1.15-1.17v when set to 1.2v bios. Havent tried pushing more than 3.6ghz as my core temps hit 59c in asus pcprobe yet 49c in coretemp orthos loaded, my cheapo cooler isnt up to more than 3.6ghz it seems, cant find a TRUE 120 cooler in stock in the uk @ mo so just testin max fsb for now.

Do any of the above settings seem excessive for the 650-750 chipset?

    advice appreciated, thx in advance

Could it be that my psu isn't up to snuff? I have my suspicions.
It's an Antec Earthwatts EA500D that came with my case.
    The Seasonic version was 17a + 17a = 34amps on the 12v
But I read that they changed oem's to Delta and it now says it's 22a + 22a
I was thinking of this to upgrade to:
    Corsair HX 520
That should be enough for me (I hope) 40a?
    I don't trust unknown entities.

Anyone with or know of any Q807A414 results? If so, please submit.

I have a CPU with the above FPO/Batch lined up (only Q807A I can find atm here in Aus) and would like to see other's experiences prior to purchasing. My Q745A740 is sub-standard for a Q745A chip and don't want to really fall into the same trap again.
