I had mounted a HR-05 IFX SLI on the mobo, however the base is very small, the, the whole base of the IFX doesnt cover because the edges are lower then the center part of the base. so It just cover 50%( from the center) of the NB IHS, should I worry or use the stock NB cooler , and then have the TRUE vertical mount prob, I assume the core of the NB is on the center tho?

considering the X38/X48 is in the center on the NB I wouldn't worry about it.

If you grind a little bit of the top "shelf" of the stock cooler, the TRUE fits vertically without a problem. All you need is a few mm off the rear cm or two.

What are your 1-3 and 0-2 GTL settings? From my quad experience with this board, it doesn't like it when you just throw Vcore, VTT, or Vnb at it. It likes to be tweaked. It may be different for duo's though. It sounds like adjusting your other GTL setting would stablize your OC.

Wolfendale CPUs dont like high VTT-Voltages and normaly they need GTLs between 60 and 80

hmm i find the main prob with wolfdale on this board is not the CPU gtl's
    its the NB

once u get that right usually ure 1/3 is around +20 to +30 of ure NB gtl
    and 0/2 is around -5 to - 10 of ure 1/3

so get the NBvoltage ,vtt, NB gtl correct.. heck dont even have to post.. just use windows diagnostic tool to check ure mem is stable..
once that is achieve that u can go forward with the cpu gtl and vcore which is the easy part

    my experience so far..

    Update Bumped the Mem Voltage
    and tweaked the ram setting
    best stable 1000mhz CL4 4x1gb Team Xtreem PC2-6400 CL3's
WMDT 5 passed enchanced cache enabled, OCCT 5 hours pass..

Latencies improved from 52.7 to 50.7

Read the DFI X38 official page in this same forum, they just talked about all this, so it would be easier than copy pasting, etc.

For what kind of processor? Ram? Just _asking_ for a template and not giving any info wont get you anywhere fast.

Clunk has a list of GTL's on his site, best to do a search for it in this thread. I think the last page from this 1, maybe 1 more and read, its all here. Praz has some Very good comments as to how to get it done as well.

My take of GTL's are, its a tweak to electrical movements, ie; comparable to a switch. Switch on/ switch off.. you need to be close to center. Hope that makes sense.

OK, on a different note, I bought this board so I could run my coupla SCSI U320 drives off it with the extra PCI-E slot that you wild folks run for Crossfire

Anyhow, I just wanted to report that the board handles my Perc4E just Gawd Dayum Sweet in PCI-E3! The card runs at 8x, and it has NO probs with the board. Just Fantastic.

I learned this the hard way. Now that I set my NB volts to the minimum I can pass OCCT at 3.8.

but u gys are talking about quads right? c2d would still need a fair amount of vnb and vcore right?
    i need 1.42 vcore and 1.5v nb to get 450/1080mhz 3.6ghz

Yea, my quad likes the NB set to minimum, but I still cant get it damn OCCT stable at 3.8 for longer than 30-40 minutes. I'm trying to find out if its my gtl values.

lol i know the feeling, i just went threw that. i have it occt stable for 3hours now @ 450/1081mhz corespeed 3.6ghz but i want it at 3.8 unfortunatly theres no n/2 ratio in this bios so its either 3.6 or 4.2. i know 4.2 wont boot without over 1.5vcore so im scared to go there.
my cpu wont do 475 stable either, ive tried my best to get there it just wont do it with 4x1gb. ive learnt that if its not going anywhere at all, reseting cmos and starting again is the only way to get back there. ive had to do that a few times

That's because there are no 1/2 multipliers for 65nm processors.

ahh thats why. thought it was strange that i didnt have it.
anyway i just pushed it to 4.2ghz and lost everything again it reset itself to default so i have to do it all again , this time im trying 333/667 i want to see if that takes me anywhere stable.

Use CMOS Reloaded to save a safe set of settings, and as you go up the FSB range, save another one and then keep overwriting that second bank once stable - Thats what I do anyway, it saves a lot of swearing when you have to clear the CMOS
