Hold the phone!!...Gigabyte P45 news (with pics):

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=184406

We have answers now regarding how Gigabyte were gonna overcome the loss of the PCI bus with the new Intel P45 chipset...by using a ITE IT8213F chipset, it supports 1 IDE connector (2 drives) and one PCI slot, GB are also gonna be using the new Super I/O from ITE, the IT8720F...clear CMOS buttons on the PCB!!!!!!!

    Typhoon: I'm with 2.66D strap. 450 X 2.66 = 1197. BIOS just round it up to 1200 but I don't know why...

Funny enough, my original plan with these sticks was to OC the CPU to 3.8Ghz (475 X 8) with 2.50A strap (1190Mhz). Unfortunately, the RAM wasn't very fond of the 2.50 strap and rejected the stock timings as well. I was trying hard to keep them stable even with 6-6-6-20! So I went back to 450 FSB and tried almost every memory strap available. 2.66D worked the best. The bad news is that now I'm not able to further OC the FSB... The good news is that I can keep my hardware cooler with lower voltages and at the same time get the most juice out of the FSB/CPU/RAM combo. I guess the sweet spot for this CPU is indeed 3600Mhz
i noticed the same thing with my board, the 2.66D is the most stable strap with performance level 7 ( i can boot up to 467mhz), to bad i have a X38T and need the 4.0 strap to fully use my DDR3-1800 memory...

i think i need to raise the performance level to 8 or 9 so that i can get the 4.00 strab bootable.

ok i did a quick try with F6 (havent done much with testing with F6) and now i can use the 4.0B (still cant get 4.0B to work) strap up to ~470mhz but then my raid 10 array craps out. :p

I think i could go higher if i would use a single HDD.

Maybe that is the Key I have been looking for,, I don't know if I have tried with the 7 or not to go higher then the 435 x 8. I tried with six and 8 maybe,, I can't remember. I will try to push it higher on 7 tonight.

Go to this site and read and it will help you alot with your settings as they are off and you have tooooo... much voltage going to the cpu!! you have everything I do basicaly check my sig... Here is the site,

I don't have too much voltage on my cpu.. This is the only way to make it stable at 3.7ghz, and with my cooling I feel that it is safe. It idles at 1.52v, load is 1.48v. I don't think my settings are not off, I just ran Prime95 blend for 9 hours.

Edit: What settings are you saying are off???

    all that is off lmao..

    Ok you haven't upped your,

    Robust Graphics Booster: AUTO

    you haven't upped your,

    CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control : 800mv

    You haven't upped your,

    PCI-E OverVoltage Control :Normal

    You need more,

    FSB OverVoltage Control :+0.15v
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control :+0.15v

    and probably ,

    CPU Voltage Control: 1.54375V

    should be like 1.5v tops.

The problem is you need to go back to default optimized settings once you crank the voltage up that high then work your way up to like 3.52 and up your voltage to like 1.3625~ then up it more little by little as needed, with all those other settings fixed first,,, then you will be more stable and using less voltage gurantied.

Ok here is what I could get, it became unstable though. I think need a fan on my chipset / memory I think or, the BIOS is limiting me.

what pci-e voltage is safe? i thought if i added voltage to this it could be bad for my graphics card. that is also why i left the other setting at 800mv.

I told you to read that thread but you didn't believe me. That thread tells you what settings matter to get a easy stable overclock. I just don't want to have to type everything that person typed.

OK.. well i did try everything this thread has said. I have tried up to 0.35v pci-e voltage, 1000mv CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control, and 0.25v fsb overvoltage.. 0.2v (g)mch voltage. None of this has helped my overclock in the slightest, I still need the same CPU vcore.. You dont need to type everything the person typed, it really was hardly anything to type at all, and it didn't help anyways.

PCI-E voltage between 105-110MHz is safe, i'd personally be conservative and go on the lower side.

Has anyone tried lower timings for the G.SKILL 4GB 8000CL5D kit?...i tried 5-5-5-12 and everything seemed fine, remember we're talking about overclocked memory in the 1066MHz+ range.

Did you listen to me and load your optimized settings first then start all over working your way up slowly.. Mine becomes unstable after messing with it to much or turning the voltage up high then trying to go lower. This is a fact with my board which is the same as yours and you have the same CPU as me to boot and damn close to same memory as me..

I also manually set the Row Refresh Cycle Time to 52 in bios, as leaving Auto and going into Everest i see it ranges from 66-68 depending on strap used.

I'm using 2.50A strap...because it allows me to get closest to 1066MHz memory, the 2.40B strapp gives me 1020MHz...but i get lower bench score in Everest.

If i had faster memory i'm sure i'd kick more butt, waiting for that OCZ 1150MHz 4GB kit to come out!
