    Thanks, Danny.
NO longer screws are required (for the 120mm Extreme), and there are instruction in the manual (Page 16) on how to remove the crazy cool heatsink...

Yea, it was a lot of reboots. This setting isn't available in memset unfortunately. I had no clue that someone else has already tested this, but their results are very similar to mine .

Thanks for sharing this info Typhoon.

Yesterday's night I tried some of the best settings from your list and all have failed in booting into Vista64 (perhaps because I'm heavily OCing my RAM from 1066 to 1200Mhz) but nevertheless, I've found out that Phase Adjust 25 and 21 works great here and I gained maybe 250 Mb/s on Everest Read on average and maybe 100 Mb/s on Everest Copy. Everest Write stayed more or less the same.

    Thanks!

Yea, my write speed stays the same almost from 1-31. Copy/read are effected by it though. What tread are you using may I ask caped_crusader?

    Thanks, Danny.
I use Ultra 90 ( uses standard OEM mounting pins, no backplate removal required, in fact you can mount it with the motherboard already in) with 2 fans in push-pull mode). It's almost the same as Ultima 90 and 2 fans will compensate for the difference.

Riddle me this...if you leave Vcore set to "Normal" in bios, does it in fact stay at default voltage?...i say this as i remember an old issue whereby even if you left the Vcore at Auto/Normal but overclocked...the Vcore would raise itself behind the scenes....like you boot into Windows anf you'd be pumping out 1.500Vcore.

Anyone noticed if this issue takes place?

And Caped C...dunno how the hell your memory bandwidth is sooo high, 3.6GHz with 1200MHz memory, your kicking my 3.4GHz quad core with 1066MHz memory in the butt!!

My validated O/C, ran a (1h) OCCT test last night and it passed, now doing Prime and other things:

Yep Dicky Dower i noticed that. If you want it to stay at default you have to put in the vcore value. Auto will raise the voltage to what ever it thinks it needs to match the CPU freaqency that you enter, and its usually waaay too much. More than it needs anyhow.

Richard Dower: Dunno... I guess I got lucky with my sticks. Everybody told me the PC8500 G.SKILL's wouldn't do more than 1140, but here they are doing 1200 with stock timings and voltage. And I play everything I want, work with my 100Mb Photoshop files, etc, etc. They're rock stable so far!

    Typhoon: I'm with 2.66D strap. 450 X 2.66 = 1197. BIOS just round it up to 1200 but I don't know why...

Funny enough, my original plan with these sticks was to OC the CPU to 3.8Ghz (475 X 8) with 2.50A strap (1190Mhz). Unfortunately, the RAM wasn't very fond of the 2.50 strap and rejected the stock timings as well. I was trying hard to keep them stable even with 6-6-6-20! So I went back to 450 FSB and tried almost every memory strap available. 2.66D worked the best. The bad news is that now I'm not able to further OC the FSB... The good news is that I can keep my hardware cooler with lower voltages and at the same time get the most juice out of the FSB/CPU/RAM combo. I guess the sweet spot for this CPU is indeed 3600Mhz

I think it is because he has a core 2 duo and there for he can pull 450 x 8 and the 2.66d strap is favored by these sticks we have. I tried my damnist to get 450 x 8 with my q6600 but, it doesn't like it..

Interesting, when i set the Vcore manually to what the bios default says should be (1.2375V) when i rebooted PC Health shows me that the voltage is between 1.2375-1.2520V...higher. Settting it to normal shows 1.220V

Prime95 running for almost 11 hours, it did a full round...2 hours quicker then it took with my 3.4GHz E6600...that would normally take 12 hours to do a full round.

It would be nice if we could work together to find optimal bios settings for RAM, but i'm guessing it's different for different brands of memory?, and i guess it depends on your setup and OC/volt mods?

Still...be nice if we could figure out what (if any) subtimings could be altered to give the best performance.

Even between different models of the same brand you will get very different results. Before I bought this PC8500, I had the same kit you have - PC8000 - both from G.SKILL. And this one likes better some straps that the other one (yours) didn't like. I guess we are stuck to trial-and-error when it comes to optimum memory settings.

But yeah, some highlights from different settings with the same brand/model of RAM would help a lot.

Yah it doesn't like those to much. My EX38 is more touchy compared to the x38 it seems. Probably because the BIOS isn't machure yet that's all. I couldn't touch my phase adjust settings either like other people here.

I can not get it to boot up with any of those settings none.. I tried everything 1-31 it will only boot up with auto on that setting.. then it sets it self to Neutral or 0. Hell I can't get this thing to go past 3.93 Ghz and used to be able to do that easy with my GA-P35-DQ6 wehich I still have by the way.

This was the best I could get right now. I can probably get what he is if my shiznit would do 450. I know I can tweak my setting timings more but, I figured this was good for now any way.

I am pretty happy with these results without any adjustments other than the strap. This thing is rock solid and I have not had any problems at all. Current Bios ver is F8. I've been thinking of going to F9a but don't see any reason to change at this time.
