Thanx for the Info. Tomorrow, Wed, 4/2/08 both my Q9450 and X3350 will arrive. I'll have to wait til the weakend to play with them in my Asus Maximus Formula though. Also my RMA'd ASus P5N-T Dlx arrives tomorrow after being sent out on 3/3/08. Also ordered a Q6700 Retail from Clubit this morning for $299. They keep lowerirng the price from $539 to $299 and then back to $539 every day now. The $299 price is only available for 1 hour every day and that hour is Random.

I know the Q6700 is suppose to drop to $266 on 4/24/08, but what's $30.

I just want to see if I can hit 4.0GHz with it since it has a 10x Multi and the Q6600, which I own has a 9x multi. If my Q6600 can run at 422x9 for 3.8GHz, I cannot see why 4.1 is not attainable with a Q6700 (410 x 10).

guys, any info on what FPO/Batch# & Pack dates you have that are OCing well?

Mine is L803B196, and the chip is hitting 3.80GHz like nothing. I've provided way too much information regarding that in this thread, too. I'm currently stress testing 3.90GHz.

Thanks. It's almost there. Half an hour... and maybe I'll keep 3.90GHz. It requires only 1.35v up until this point... and probably even lower!

My Lapped Zalman CNPS9700NT kicks butt at cooling CPUs.

What temps do you get with ya current setup... I really haven't had any good succes with those Zalman coolers , too noisy to be performant. Pretty sure this cooler cannot handle 4ghz at 1.5volts with a q6700... Secondly it has got nothing to do with the multiplier to get too 4ghz... this is CPU design dependant... Most Q6700 are topping out at the same 3.7-3.9 levels as many Q6600 with air cooling...

But I hope that I'm totally wrong and you can get 4ghz at decent voltage levels and with good temps.... Keep us posted...

Well my OEM Q9450 arrived today. So I did pull out my Q6600 that can do 3.9 GHz and installed the Q9450. I could only get it to hit 440x8.

450x8 at any CPU, NB, FSB vtt, CPU pll, would not get the Load Windows XP screen to finish saying Loading your Settings. Very Disappointing!!!

Maybe my Maximus Board sucks. I tried a QX9650 5 weeks ago and it couldn't even do 400x10. It would Max out at 3.92GHz at 342*11.5. Just slighly better than my Q6600.

Well I ordered an Asus Rampage (X48 chipset) today to see if that will help in getting my Q9450 and X3350 to run at 3.80GHz. I'll get it sometime next week though.

But I'll have this weekend to play with the X3350 and Q6700 within the Maximus Formula.

Hmm... I wish I had another chip to try out on my motherboard... to see if it's really a motherboard thing. But hey, seeing as to how a P5K modded to death could achieve 519, I guess it's not a motherboard thing.

is it just me or is it really hard to get past 475 fsb. I tried p35 and x38 and both stop around 475. I could try sub zero cooling but I dont know if it would even make a difference.

Where are the dice results you are referring to? I had mine on the p5e3 and dice last night but after -35c the board got caught in a loop during post. it would just shut off and restart over and over by itself? Condensation or cold bug? I took the container off and once board got back to ambient temps. I put a stock intel heatsink on and it would post fine. I think I need to reevaluate my insulation methods.

Just confirmed by myself: there's no limit to the FSB you can get from Q9450/X3350 CPUs. There's only a limit to your board.
And IMO, best board to get for Q9450/X3350 processors right now is... ASUS P5E-VM HDMI, as I've gotten both a Q9450 and a X3350 to over 475 FSB (X3350 to 520, Q9450 to 512 booting) on two P5E-VM HDMI boards.

What's next? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Edit: 475 is possible even with the onboard graphics adapter. Guess that means SFF extreme quads for us.

Yeap. Actually, I could even boot at 512 with the onboard graphics adapter. Will make a video of that later... once I have set everything up.

Well The X3350 is in the New Rampage Formula and it can only do 462x8.

And that is at 1.25v. More CPU volts don't do anything in hopes of going higher. The NB is at 1.63v from a FSB of 400 to 462. Maybe that needs to go to 1.80v?

FSB vtt is 1.45v
CPUpll is 1.55v.

What else can I try to get 475x8 on a X3350?



At least it is a little better than the Q9450 in the Maximus Formula which could only do 445x8.

These 45nm Quads do not offer anything more than an Old Q6600 G0 SLACR.

And actually my Q6600 runs faster than an X3350.

Q6600 can do 428x9
X3350 can do 462x8

Also my Q6700 couldn't do 400x10, only 360x10.

Don't think I'll ever get to 4.0GHz with a Quad Core on Air.
My Old QX9650 could only do 345x11.5.
