ati 2900xt bios mods wall at 860

I have no issue with volts can get gpu up to 1.35v

i can't get the gpu to run at 860mhz and up at the folowing volts
    1.2v (stock)
    1.25v
    1.3v
    1.35v

i can run just no issues at 1.2v at 854mhz

i using a saphire 2900xt 1gb card for this testing

is there any type of wall with some of the 2900xt bios files?

Thanks for any help you can give

also have a ati 2900xt 512mb using in crossfire when I figure this issue out.
see sig for current 3d mark in crossfire. at 800 each have no test in CF at the max of 854mhz.

    fix found on post #6

There is no wall. How hot do the GPU and vrm run at those different vGPU values?

After 860MHz what kind of issues do you face (system reboots, artifacts, etc) ?

*EDIT* make sure that the ATI hotkey poller service is active. Make sure ATITool doesn't temper with this setting.

Good job I think that the poller service is working now after the reinstall and that's probably what fixed it

You can check it by running services.msc. You could try to disable it just to see if the problem returns. If it does, then you have properly isolated the problem which comes in handy in the future

nothing to do with the service its bc of overdrive and ccc read in the later pages of http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=165389

so what it is is overdrive has a max of 858 core when you go over that with out modifying part of the inf file for the ati dirvers it will not know what speed to set the card to and what voltage so in the inf you tell it to go to state 4 and overdrive now shows 900 min and 900 max.

Ahh yes, I thought that you were using ATITool. Sorry that I didn't properly read your post.

If you are using the bios editor for the 2900, you can just use 2-6 pin plugs on the power instead of the 6 and 8. It will disable overdrive...

So are you totally stable at 950? I ran 950 with 1.35V for the longest time using the Quantum Force BIOS editor, but I would get a driver reset every once in a while.

One thing that you might want to try is setting the memory to 1000 instead of whatever you're OCed to.....it helps for stability.

Here is another editor that lets you go to 1.40V supposedly. I'm going to test with this one soon.....

just one part of a inf file to edit plus better off if im going to max the card out. in the 900mhz core and up.

working on the stable part just started testing today and at the end of the week the final parts will be here to get crossfire up with water on both gpu's then it's 20k in 3dmark 06

The bios editor has the fixed vid on all 3d clocks.

I saw that too....if you use the Quantum Force editor to change the voltage for 3d clocks to 1.35V, then load that BIOS into the other editor it will have the option to increase the 3d voltages.
I've read that our cards top out at 1.35V though....not sure if that's true or not though...

    ditch the quantumforce bios editor

    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...tor_v1.09.html

bios will only go up to 1.35v but this allows better fine tuning and auto checksum correction...

if using a sapphire 2900pro use hynix 1.1 bios' for either xt or pro.

lemme know if you have any questions because i did everything you are thinking about 4 months ago

    such similar systems...

Well I flashed my cards to 940 months ago.......but I tried the BIOS editor and it has basically the same stuff as the Quantum force, with extra info and fan control.....
    Our systems are very similar

volts can go in increments of .25
plus you can undervolt, underclock your 2d (as im doing now) to save some heat in your loop while in 2d...

the only real difference i see between us is the ram.. have you tried the rampage bios mod for your motherboard? i tried it and never switched back, granted it took a day or 2 to tweak out the motherboard, but i was able to make a HUGE increase in ram latency and bandwidth.

is your rad on the back of your case? i need to do something with mine, its in the front of the case... have to make a bezel or something so there is no chance of recirculated hot air...

I see but at 1.35v with the ek water blocks i would need to workout some way to handle the vregs at that voltage.

You know I've been thinking about flashing the Rampage Formula BIOS....I may do that tonight or tomorrow, as I'm off work. That's great that it helped with memory performance......

I do have my rad mounted on the back using a Swiftech Radbox. I'm thinking about building a shroud.....a friend of mine at OCN has a little FAQ for it....
