Hi everyone, I haven't posted on these boards in quite awhile but now I am overclocking in full swing again

I took my Q6600 G0 from my older P5K-E board and placed it in the new Maximus Formula non-SE I recently purchased. This chip runs 24hrs P95 stable at 3200mhz 1.25v on air (TRUE) with the P5K board. The memory I use tested fine as well. (8x400)

My issue is that on the Maximus I get BSODs during P95. My temps are well within reason, 55C load on the hottest core. The NB runs about 45-47C load.

I lowered the speed to 3000 mhz (9x333) and I still BSOD. This CPU can go up to 3600mhz and run Prime... yet at any speed I eventually encounter a BSOD. The BSOD doesn't specify whether its a driver issue or not.

I'm about to test it at stock but I was wondering if any of you have some good insight at what may be the issue here. I know it is absolutely contained to the motherboard.

heres a question for you guys in the know:

My power went out when my computer was still on. after power came back on i looked at the lcd screen and it said CPU INIT. I turned the computer on and it turned on for a second, then turned back off, then turned back on and booted up fine. i checked my specs and the FSB speed and CPU speed was all the same. anyone know what the computer did? some type of diagnostic or reset after not being properly shut off? thanks

i have another question actually, since you guys have the asus maximus formula, i assume some of you are using the supreme FXII. Im using it and i notice the volume in vista home premium is very low, regardless of turning every single audio slider in vista or the soundmax blackhawk programs. also, i cant change the setting that says "jazz session" on the program. weird ass program, never had this type of problem before, i mean i have turn the volume up a rediculous amount to get good sound. wtf gentlemen, WTF
    thanks

I was just wondering what the vdrop mod is for, what does it help and why would anybody do it. which advantages you get from that.

Mine was low too. Go to control panel, sounds, right click on speakers, properties, system effects tab. check "Enable Sonic Focus Processing". Ajust away . They you can adjust from that Sound Max Black Hawk.

I cant change Jazz Session either. Its bugged.

Also, sometimes when I change settings in the BIOS and save, the computer shuts off for a few seconds, and turns on by it self. I'm not sure if it is supposed to do that or what. Never seen a computer do that? Anyone shed light on this please? Current BIOS: 1003

LOL...I think the answer is all of the above. I've had great luck with bios 907 and my current hardware. Unless it can be proven the effort produces a 300mhz OC advantage, I won't be going there.

Cold Boot Issue. I have the same thing happen from time to time when Cold Booting. Blame it on the Asus Anomalies.

I haven't seen that from cold boot yet. It happens to me sometimes when exit and saving from bios. Is that a normal amomally? Or a bad flash? I dont remember the 907 doing that.

It's normal mate, unplug ya power cord... put it back in and press power button , it iwll fire up shut down and then boot fine... all pretty normal... for Asus boards ... and my foxconn does the same... I think it's reuired by the Intel Chipset to set straps and co...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

As I clearly stated, " I save and attempted to reload saved CMOS setting of a given BIOS version (ie: v0802) for BIOS v0802 when returning to it after a flash back from a higher version (ie: v0907). It is now that the BIOS saved that worked at say 9am did not work again at 9:15AM same day after coming back to v0802.

I save them for the sake of wanting to have 2 easy to select profiles and not have to thumb through the mmenues to have to click back n forth. I sort of figured this why we asked for them 3 yrs ago and they finally answered since first ROG series like my ASUS CROSSHAIR.

I never claimed to try to use one profile save from one version to another of different version. Somebody claimed they did but I never found it to work but I always saved my previous for the purpose of coming back if I didnt like it like the all to bad v0907. But then it corrupted the rest of the BIOS and RAM anywayz, So oh well, had to RMA it. Still waiting.

Other then this, a might be isolated issue, I really enjoy overclocking on this mobo. Not sure what all the hipe on sub RAM timings is and what real world areas are.

Updated BiOS to 1004 and tested again and it's working fine once again.
What BIOS were you on for each CPU (the same for both?)? I found S3 did not work at even stock and auto when on v0907. Iffy on the other beta's but very stable on v0602, even on a mild divider.

You can flash from any type of media drive BIOS can detect as long as it is not partitioned and is formated FAT32 and if ROM is in a folder, it must be in all cap's no spaces, just like DOS basically. I flash from my PSP, iPod and Nicon Camera and or Epson Printer w/ card reader. Just make sure USB mode is set to auto for floppy emulation.

Can you PM me with an example of your BIOS voltages and other setting to compare. I am playing with my old Q6600 9GO) on a P5K Deluxe and might try it on here if it looks good. What is the max FSB you can get on any multi v/s highest clock?

If it's what happen to me after a v0907 BIOS corruption, I had to always go into F1 to fix CPU to manual and set RAM to a default spd (ie: 800) and timings to manual and default (ie: 5-5-5-15). Left everything else as is in auto and saved, exited and restarted and it was OK. TRhe I was able to tweak the rest and go on.

    It's worth a try anywayz!

Perfectly normal for ASUS and others. It mostly has to do with the onboard circut protection kicking in to set up you PSU to match voltag lines befor actually starting up. Since the PC was shut down so suddently it is not in S (suspend mode anymore and cant remember the power state. It is basically a self check for mobo and PSU, and yes, partly to do with recent ASUS since the P5AD2 when FSB climbed over a certain level.

You check it in your bios "PCIE Frequency" 110/115 should be the highest.
After that you can get some issues, or atleast I found to have issues above 115.

I have tried 1004 and am very happy so far.

slight bandwidth increase, and very stable ( for me anyways). Going to push my cpu today and see if I can get a higher clock from 907.

I see still no successful flash to the Rampage bios yet.

Grn, how are the dividers on 1004? I'm almost tempted to move away from 0505 again if this new bios is any good for 65nm?
