Has ne 1 had the balls to try flashing to Rampage bios yet?

the official release of sp 1 for vista will stop timestop and bios emulation activations of pirated copies. the updates that do this will only appear in the sp 1 from windows update or on the retail disc not on the RTM.
this has been asked about 10x now... and still it seems we are all still ball-less
perhaps in a week i will pick up another maximus from frys and experiment with the rampage bios on it. as it IS a local store and has a pretty good return policy. if rampage bios results in a dead board i will just return it. if it results as a working board... i will just return it anyways![]()
no harm done, no money lost.
the real question is, what do i manipulate in bios to up the write speeds for ram?

Using SLIC BIOS is NOT emulation. Paradox uses BIOS emulation. KB940510 is the Windows update that detects BIOS emulation and Timerstop.
Actually if you have followed both Maximus threads, several tried but failed in their attempts to flash the to the Rampage bios. One person found a way and started a how to thread on it.![]()

I'm really tempted to try this Rampage bios, would like someone else to take the plunge b4 I do.
If it wasnt for 1004 being so nice with my 8400 I would do it right now but my setup is running %100 atm and I dont want to screw it up.
Exactly the same reason I won't try it right now, I'm not fussed about killing the board because I've got my Blitz here, but I don't really wanna trade off a mature bios for one still in it's youth?!
I've been trying to think of other ways to flash it to the Rampage bios, anywayHas anyone even tried using Crashfree to flash it? Because we know that has no restraints when it comes to bios flashing as long as the file name is correct?
Man, nice mod stilt m8!
Perhaps this works too on intels x38 reference board, Bonetrail![]()
When they release x48 bios files. Just hope than it has more settings than x38s newest release.

Better bios options and hopefully better overclocking because of those new options?
Stilt, does the Rampage bios have finer GTL reference voltage adjustment than the Maximus? I think I saw a piece on anandtech about that. If so, that should help with higher stable quadcore overclocks and would make me very interested in trying the mod.

Unbelievable lol. Definitely subscribing to this thread. Just need some significant results now to justify the risks involved.
Stilt what bios version were you running when you did the mod ?
