16B09 I'm getting about 0.03v droop at 1.3950 vcore in the BIOS.

I should add that I've only ever used this mobo for pre-testing CPUs on stock air, but I really quite like it. The quality of finish is second to none. I think I'll end up using it with my Q6600 under water for a file and game server.

I'm using beta bios 09. I don't really like it. I still get as much a .1 vdroop on my CPU. It also made me reinstall my videocard drivers . It also has messed up temps significantly! I know this is normal, but it's annoying.

The worst part is I still can not get my Q6600 stable at 9x400 no matter what I do.
when you say, can not get it to be stable, what bench are you using to quantify the "not"?

what do you want?...Prime 95 or wPrime stability for your CPU?

Prime95 will give you about 3.7-3.8 but it might require some higher voltages...wPrime 1024M stability bench will require less voltage.

I know you're not a fan of it, but I'm using Prime95 with 4 cores. If it's stable for at least an hour, I call it "stable" and then boot up a game and start playing normally for a few days until a crash. Anyways, I've tested my 3.6Ghz with Prime95 (bluescreen and complete crash after 1-10 mins), AoE3/CoD4 (bluescreen and complete crash after 15-60 mins) and normal use (completely random crashes).

With watercooling you can definitely safely put more than 1.45v in your CPU.

well...i understand your need to use that program.

i would set the memory to 1:1 put max MCH and max ICHIO for an hour to see if that brings you stability...i would also increase your Vdimm to around 2.25 to 2.3v for an hour so to see if those increased voltages help....if all of that does not, increase your vcore.

But isn't there a safe limit to this stuff? Max MCH and ICHIO sounds scary as heck. 2.3v DDR2 is ok for me now (I have this awesome fan cooling them now), but it's also my max. And most importantly... Why do so many other people hit 3.6Ghz with less voltage and less additional cooling?

Nice to see talk to a good face again, Ace.

I seemed to have fixed my problem by removing the videocard and cleaning the inside of my system. There was not a lot of dust buildup, but it seemed to need cleaning.

One problem remains, I cleared the CMOS by removing the system power, battery, and changing the clear CMOS jumper. However the system still remembers my OC settings, but none of the other settings like Raid, boot order, and CPU options. Even though I have cleared the BIOS many times.

I am using the BETA 16 BIOS. BIOS date 9/28/2007.

I'm just worried why my OC settings have not gone back to default.

    Thanks.

    Advice/Ideas from a relative newb...

I've realized that OC/uGuru date and BIOS data are somehow completely seperate... Though my problem is usually the opposite of yours... I'll lose all OC data, but my BIOS is fine.

Also, there are 3 BETA 16 BIOS's. 03, 04, and 09. I think we all call them by that and not dates, though I could be wrong. Just trying to help .

I appreciate the help, that is what makes forums great.

I will update to the Beta 09 when I have time just because I know that I have a earlier BIOS version. Will see what happens with that.

Oh. I HATED 09... and it seems most people do (AFAIK). As far as I can tell, for a Q6600, 03 is by far the best... I just "downgraded" to that tonight.

Wow, thanks. I'll then try to see what version I have, so that I can see whether or not I have to get 03.

Flashed to 16.B04 bios and with my e8400 uGuru shows what seams like they could be accurate temps but now temps reported by core temp is higher then before. About 50c/65c in core temp, 31c/48c in uGuru and everest with stock cooler.

I just put 09 on last night and it seems to work well with my Wolfdale. The board shipped with BIOS 14, and for the same clock (4.0GHz) I was able to lower the required loaded vcore by .02v. Temps are still out of line - uGuru reports 27C idle/46C load, while Core Temp reports 38C idle/58C load. At least they seem to report the same approximate delta between idle & load. FWIW, I trust Core Temp, because I believe those figures to be realistic given my setup.

it is just for an hour or so to see if insufficient voltage is holding you back from a prime95 overclock.

the other hold back could be a lack-luster cpu, like my replacement 9650...it is the roll of the dice to get a good or poor overclocking chip.

My IP35-Pro with the E8400 is running cool with the 16 beta 09 bios.
Both cores measuring at 34C, using Everest Ultimate version 4.20.1285.
No overclock yet. All voltage settings at default.

Hey guys! Maybe you can help me.
I got this board running with the system in my sig, and I got some sound issues.

I have a 4.1 system, I set the Windows Sound manager (in the control panel) to work with 4.1 sound, and when I try it, works fine, all speakers sound separately and as they shoud. But when trying to listen to some music using any kind of software, only both front speakers work.

    Any help with that?

    Thanks!!

this thread is massive...I hope someone can give me a couple of quick answers

is eGuru a good thing to use or is it better doing it through the bios always ?

could someone please tell me the best drivers/bios to have for this board with an e8400 + 4gb gskill 8000, in the BIOS and in eGuru the cpu temp is showing a constant reading of 246deg!!, although never beeps or shuts down despite the warnings being enabled
    coretemp shows 35/37 idle...

also where to get the drivers, I have looked on the Abit site but there are not many new drivers/BIOS ?

my guess would be that the music was not recorded as surround sound, just 2 channels...it is like listening to a TV channel where one program gives surround sound so i hear all music or sound from 5 channels while other programs recorded or programmed in stereo, 2 channels, are strictly coming through the front speakers.

you need to upgrade to beta bios 16.b09 to make that wolfdale to work correctly.

i would not worry about updating drivers unless you are having a problem like with video.

Yea, that is the main problem, but my last rig (nf4 ultra) was able to make all speakers sound. There is an option usually enabled that makes the sound to distribute thorugh all spakers, even though there only are 2 channels. I guess that is what is missworking.

Maybe it can be worked out using the realtek drivers, but last time I installed them caused a lot of problems and I had to reinstall de OS.

Any guess? Maybe I'll have to wait for new drivers or something.

Hey guys i just got my new 8400 and Abit IP35 mobo.
Everything works fine. Only 1 thing doesn't seem very correct:
    vcore in bios : 1.2250v
    => cpu)z 1.44: vcore : 1.112v
I putted around 2.2v on my memory, what should be stock. The only thing is i cannot see how many volts my memory get for real, i hope they don't get fried now:s

also occt and windows give a speed of 3492mhz and cpu-z gives the correct speed of 3.1ghz. It looks like occt and windows seems to take a Multiplier of 9X and i have putted it to 8X=> strange??

mine reports lower vcore in cpuz etc too, no option to set it lower than 1.225v in the BIOS ?

I have no floppy drive installed just now, must the beta bios only be updated doing it this way? (not with flashmenu)

I set everything to auto in the BIOS, it has given the memory 1.8v, is this too low ? it shows 1.8v in windows programs too..
