Hey Ron what sort of scores do you get with the E8400 @ 4Ghz and 3dmark06?? And what are the temps for it as 1.35v seems dam good for that overclock.
Cheers Paul

Hi guys!
Which BIOS version is the best for ip35pro? I've got a pesky 0,5V drop on vcore with my q6600 on load. Could it be fixed by flashing a new BIOS? Or it can be solved only by modding the mobo? Are there any pencil mods for this board?

I'm pretty sure its chipped like the corners on my Premium. I will no longer use chipset waterblocks unless it has an IHS on it. I hate taking my comp apart.

Coretemp probably is reading pretty high. Coretemp isn't a reliable temp source for the E8400, however it's VERY accurate at telling you how far from throttling temp your CPU is. I don't think the E8400 has a tjunction of 105c..

Trying out this new beta bios and it acted a little weird. Made me reinstall some drivers dont know if thats jsut vista or the bios but oh well.
I have the vdroop mod and with this bios it is .01 to .02 vdroop with quad B3.
The temps are a little different also, not sure whats up with that. Anyways it still works. And its kind of nice to show what strap your on for the ram selelction makes it a little nice for ocing.
Either core temp is hosed or the sensors on the chip are defective. I think core temp is still accurate as far as the delta to tjunction max temp. But for idle temps and actual load temps its way off on my chip. 49c idle temp no matter what the ambient is. You can tell by feeling the base of the HS if your running hot and my chip is not running as hot as core temp indicates. In fact it feels really cool to the touch at idle and just slightly warm under load.
Edit: Like HaTaX said I think the actual tjunction is lower than 105c but even if thats fixed you still have the idle temps stuck at a fixed value at least on some chips.

Hmm, not happy. I'm using 16B09 and the system isn't stable at defaults.

Damn thing just locked up after 52 seconds of Orthos, got 3 minutes last time!
Edit: set the RAM 4-4-4-12 and 1.9v manually (it gets warm) and it still locked up... but starting or running CPU-Z v1.43 seems to be the killer. Now 20 minutes into Orthos and it's ok. I'll keep at it.

...yepp I tried 16B09 with great hope too, but I am dissapointed now. Vcore drop is 0,1V on load ( compared to the BIOS set value ), and even not constant, sometimes it fall down to 1,2V( when I set 1,5V! ) and sometimes to 1,66V
( that made my hair stand on end, and I flashed 11 back ). I tried to mess around with the GTL refs, then the vcore stoped to jitter that much, but the drop remained the same. Dose someone ocing a Kentsfield in this board with success? How could be the vcore drop
depressed?
intel tech support told me to not worry about the core temps...the cpu will shutdown the cpu and the board if it encroaches into the max temp area for any part on the cores.
i didn't like the answer but for practicality, it will protect your cpu.

Hi all,
its time (after lurking for 3 months) to post my setup.
I have a q6600, 2 gigs of 1066 ram (Xtreem Dark from teamgroup), 3 hdds, 1 sata DVDRW, an ETASIS 750W power supply. My heatsink is a Thermalright 120. My GFX card is a 8800gt.
My current (and probably final overclock) is 3420Mhz with a 380fsb.
Bios revision 1.6beta4.
My memory runs at 475mhz at 5-5-5-13-2T.
My voltages are as follows:
vcore= 1.3725
ddr2=2.375
mch=1.29
vtt=1.23
ich=1.09
ichio=1.55
cpu-gpu +69%
My temps are:
51-46-47-49 (under load)
PWM 57 Celcious (under load - no bolt mod)
My system does not like more volts, so I reckon this is as high as I can get.
Thank you all for your valuable advice and help.
Quick question - Does using FlashMenu flash the boot block too?
I used FlashMenu for 1.4 and it was fine, was able to boot with my E8400.
Thx
I need some help.
Tonight I was formating the rig in my signature. I installed Vista with no problem, but I had to restart because of the updates. I was hit with the sound of my fans on high speed and the C1 indicated on the motherboard.
I assumed it was memory related, so I cleared CMOS and tried single sticks in different slots. Nothing happened. At one point I was able to boot up and get into Vista. I noticed that the system was still at 3.6GHz and that the memory was still over clocked even though I set it all the default. However the voltages and speed step were set to default. (I used CPU-z and Windows control panel to view the speeds) Sometimes It would also loop restart, but only twice.
I recalled some people having the same problem, but I can't find the solution.
I also disconnected the hard drives to see what would happen. It did the same thing.
Any help would be great.

Yesterday I put a better fan on my RAM. They are significantly cooler. I put 1 40mm fan on the PWM and 1 40mm fan on the MCH. This has dropped my PWM load temps from 95C to 70C. I'm very happy with that.
I'm using beta bios 09. I don't really like it. I still get as much a .1 vdroop on my CPU. It also made me reinstall my videocard drivers. It also has messed up temps significantly! I know this is normal, but it's annoying.
The worst part is I still can not get my Q6600 stable at 9x400 no matter what I do.
