Actually I did... But 230 seemed to be the wall, and I was blaming it on the NB/HTT multi's, never lowered the CPU below 11x... DOAH!!

In IDE mode SATA II perf. on the MSI board is ~16MB/s better in Av.R than on a P35/ICH9R board. I've tested both recently. For AHCI, install the drivers properly with the set procedure and you can find out. Achim outlined it a few posts back if you didn't install the SATA drivers at Windows install.
I'm using ports 1(HD)+2(DVD) on the SB600, I tried it on the Promise T3 and it was even worse. I must have missed that post by Achim, I'll go back and look for it... My drive has NCQ so it would be nice to be able to use AHCI.
