Thanks for the responses guys, would you happen know what Temp1 is and System? I'm guessing Temp1 is Northbridge and System is southbridge? or near the ram slots? System is always very low.

i did everything ok till stage IV.....and it freezes while booting and installing USB devices......it doesn't detect USB keyboard or mice......maybe should try PS/2 ?

This is an Abit IP35-E thread. On that board the PWM heatsink is blue. On your board it is copper. Same location.

windows should detect your USB devices, I didn't have that problem, the worst case scenario is that you may HAVE to do a clean install of windows if this method is not working for you, at least you tried, and I hope you did a backup of your important data.

Hi everyone just purchased the IP35-E from newegg for an awesome deal. Ive heard the board can be VERY picky with ram. Maybe it better now with board/bios revision? Anways, I currently have a Gigabyte P965 DS3 MB (Version 1) with an e6400 thats running at 3.6ghz stable with gskill F2-6400PHU1-1GBHZ ram. I'll probably be getting a Q6600 and hoping to get near my 3.6ghz i have with my current setup. I am wanting a 2x2GB memory. What is working well for this MB? I've heard that you don't want any memory that is speced over 1.8V? Is this memory descent:

I'm not worried about ultra tight timing as much as i am that i will stop me before i get to my 3.6ghz goal.

rubbish, plenty of people are running RAM that needs more than that (although you may have to boot using only 1 DIMM to let you increase the RAM voltage to the manufacturer's recommended voltage).

Well they didn't specifically say don't go over 1.8V with any modules...they just recommended getting modules rated at 1.8V rather than the modules that are rated 2.1-2.3V.

I pulled it out from under my desk and set the CMOS battery out and the jumper to clear one last time. Waited a while then put them back to normal and close it up for one last try. It booted and the keyboard worked. I don't know if it was the board or something wrong with what i had it in (two PS/2 ports and hard to see with <4in to the wall) or how I had it in (all the way?). Whatever--I'll RMA once I can get a temporary board.

DEP configuration for the system is controlled through switches in the Boot.ini file. DEP can be configured by using the System dialog box in Control Panel.

The Boot.ini file settings are as follows: /noexecute= policy_level Note policy_level is defined as AlwaysOn, AlwaysOff, OptIn, or OptOut.

OptIn: This setting is the default configuration for Windows XP. On systems with processors that can implement hardware-enforced DEP, DEP is enabled by default for limited system binaries and programs that "opt-in." With this option, only Windows system binaries are covered by DEP by default.

OptOut: This setting is the default configuration for Windows 2003 SP1. DEP is enabled by default for all processes. A list of specific programs that should not have DEP applied can be entered using the System dialog box in Control Panel. Network administrators can use the Application Compatibility Toolkit to "opt-out" one or more programs from DEP protection. System compatibility fixes, or shims, for DEP do take effect. Bios 15, using a e8400, temp reading seems off, I got 65c at 1.328 and 4050mhz idle.
The old cpu showed with bios 15 acurate with core temp but really off using everest.(using bios 11 both showed same temps)
Now both show same temps at 65c using bios 15.

Priming using Orthos temp went up to 85c at start up and now at 86c.

Not sure if this is a bios thing, block not make proper contact, ihs and cores not properly in contact, a flawed ihs, or sensor malfunction.

My GPU show the same temps as before though.

My only experience of DEP was when I was clocking an AMD64 on DFI Ultra D (I think).

I started clocking on Windows 2000 and found my max overclock (roughly 3Ghz I think)

I then installed XP SP2 (with default clocks for the install) and started clocking it back up again, but it wouldn't boot at the same settings as 2k would. From what I recall, it was a good few 100Mhz short - something like 2.6Ghz - 2.8Ghz.

Long story short, I found that disabling DEP in XP got me back the same clocks as 2k. I used the /execute command (instead of the default /noexecute=OptIn) to do this.

It was very weird.

Use the VID on the box plus 10%. This should yield 60C max under Orthos and a decent CPU cooler (Big Typhoon or equivalent).

The nominal overclock for these chips is 4.0-4.3GHz.

well, I use bios 15, on my e6750 I got around 32c idle and around 42 load.
Used core temp 0.96.1 to see temps.
Installed the 8400, temps all haywire, at stock vcore its 62c!
Set to 4184mhz and vcore 1.352 and running orthos its 85c...

Since I use watercooling the temps are off and either its a bios issue or the IHS isnt making contact properly.
The first time I removed the waterblock and sure enough the contact was not good. Re-seated the block and made sure its a contact, turning the bolts all the way and still no go.

Yea,
checked using orthos at 4200mhz,
run for 30min, temp went from 68c to 95 and stayed there.
from stock vcore to 1.4 for 4.2ghz the temp difference is around 6c.

so seems the ihs/core seems alright and the temp sensor is off.
