    lol, foolish intel guy, who desing the HSF for press,
    it doesn't compate for all the motherboard,due to the cube base
    so, retail's HSF is different with press, to avoid this problem.

    what about E8400 ?

    its cheaper but does it OC just as well? maybe not 4.5 Ghz but will it do 4ghz on lets say a Zalman9700 hsf ?

    easily

    on OCAU we are seeing people priming at 4.5GHz with both E8500 and E8400 they get toasty at those speeds and volts so not a good idea for 24/7

    with 1.120v default 3.16ghz,loaded is 31w


    0.99v 3.16ghz, is 23w loaded


    sorry,gigaybte's DES can't work with overclock


    i also measure the watts with seasonic's powerangel, with same 1.12v, 3.6ghz gets same watts as default 3.16ghz.
