This board is a lot better than some other boards I've used concerning initial VDIMM. Gigabyte boards are real bad about not supplying enough VDIMM to POST.

HI
I am having same problem. I flashed to 504 on my p5e and I can not flash to 402 bios. Afudos tells me the bios is too old. I also tried using older Afudos 2.11 and this also tell me the checksum is bad.
Anybody know how I can go back to the older BIOS? 405 sets vcore at 2.6V!
![]()
is it, everytime a new bios comes out people just dive on it like it is the holy grail!Do some reading and see if in the release notes you see if the solution to your Problem? is there. If not don't load it up. I am still using the original bios with absolutely no complaints. I am just taking my time getting to know the board. Not just the bios update section. It just keeps getting better.
This board has lots to offer you just got to figure out how to get it.

I partly agree with your statement, but I think that mobo manufactures learn from people actually having the mobo and giving them feedback. The first initial bios is stable due to a lot of testing before releasing the mobo. The following updates are quickly released (mostly as beta's) to again get user feedback.
well i am really ****** off with asus , after downgrading the bios to 107 the board could not update any bios reporting that the motherboard is NOT an asus one thus the updating process could not start. After 5-6 restarts the mobo went into continuous reboots , on and off....for ever. crashfree utility did not function![]()
the mobo is already in the bin , that was the last asus motherboard for me .
thanks asus for your brilliant 200 euro mobo and leaving me 4 days without pc
oh i have bonus photo to upload later

Just replace my old GA-965P-DQ6 with P5E, new board is much better than
965P-DQ6 in every aspect, especially overclock options in the bios and DDR2
oc'd very good.
It's a pity that Asus didn't make their recent bios well, though. Could someone
please advise that is there any P5E bios has its Q-fan work? Can't imagine why
Asus isn't able to deal with simple task like thisCPU fan is so noisy because
bios just can't control it and running in full speed !

Download AsusUpdate 6.10.02, install it, in the options menu check the ability to downgrade the BIOS, chose to flash from a file and continue untill your favorite BIOS is correctly flashed.![]()
If you have Vista32, install launching "setup.exe"; Vista64 is probably not supported.

I used a 2B pencil and it improved my VDroop but didn't eliminate it.
1.325 VCore in BIOS 0303 is 1.30V in PC Probe II. The E6850 does 3600 MHz stable at 1.325 BIOS VCore with 400FSB x 9 though -- G.Skill 2 x 2G at 1066 MHz. Not bad. Why is some VDroop necessary in the design of these boards?

Come on ea6gka. One minute you are running bios 402 all content to run perfectly at 400fsb. you even posted your cpuz. So why if that bios fit your system so well did you change it? Geez learn to leave well enough alone. Asus is as good as anybody at board building. As far as needing feed back from you and me on each new bios. I strongly doubt most of theis really the type of info that will help Asus write their next bios. I saw this on the P5W DH thread too. People grabbing every bios to come down the pike only to be disappointed. If you have a bios that is working good for you then leave it alone!!!

What you're saying isn't really what you'd call VDroop. It's a simple difference in voltage readings from the BIOS vs. reality.
VDroop is when your CPU is being supplied with a certain voltage during idle and then "droops" under load, causing lock ups and instability issues during heavy use (Orthos / gaming etc.) Almost no board out there properly reports actual VCore correctly-that's no biggie.
What the mod does is stabilize the voltage and keep it the same during idle and load.

Just tested it again on bios 0402 with one memorystick (slot1)
Getting the first error at first pass on adress 928.6mb(memtest86 1.7). Already disabled usb legacy.
As stated: bios 0107 and 0201 give no errors.
Only from bios 0303 and up it errors.
I've used these sets of ram in different configs (paired, single, etc)

Don't like this at all, allready mailed asus about it a few days ago, but you know, the're not responding :-(
Only time it works without errors is when the bios crashes and it starts up with the f1/f2 bios action. I choose f2 (load default settings and continue) and running memtest I get no errors, but after resetting the problems are back again. Already talked about it on the corsair forums, but they can't do anything for me there cause it's not a bad memory issue.
Is there any tool where I can see all bios settings within dos/windows?
Maybe I can see some setting that's different (can't imagine cause I tried everything)
because i was hoping for better overclocking , 450x8 was impossible while cheaper boards such as ip35pro can do it. then this newer bios literally destroyed my board , wasnt expecting this
i think the site is called extremesystems , leaving alone my board is not an option for me, especially when i know the board can do betterGeez learn to leave well enough alone. Asus is as good as anybody at board building.
generally every new bios fixes issues and offers new things and/or performance , i have never encountered this before though , a bios update which messed everything. instead of leaving my bios alone , i leave the board alone , so i can happily continue with my ip35pro, thanks/I saw this on the P5W DH thread too. It will run on 1 stick and pass memory test all day. If you put 2 in dual channel, fails within 30 seconds EVERY time! Memory test fine in a DX38BT... also one at a time is fine, I ordered some OCZ plat according to the QVL Hope they work better... I am running a QX9650.

Got this reply for fixing my problems with my p5e:
Am I getting crazyDear customer,
Maybe the best you can do is to downgrade your bios.
Awflash.exe BIOS.bin /py/sn/cc/f
Some more information for your reference:
The complete command is: Awflash.exe BIOS.bin /py/sn/cc/cp/cd/r/f
Explanation:
/Py Need not choose yes and flash BIOS directly
/Sn no save of the previously BIOS
/CC Clear CMOS after flash BIOS
/CP Clear PnP (ESCD) after flash BIOS
/CD Clear DMI after flash BIOS
/R System restart after flash BIOS
/F Flash BIOS by force
With kind regards,

Hey at least we have a solid solution for downrev'ing the BIOS, right? Instead of unplugging the thinghalfway through or whatever goofiness was discussed earlier in this thread... Looks like the /f switch would bypass any "can't revert to older BIOS" errors.

Why they recommend you to use Awflash which is for Award BIOS, my P5E is using AMI BIOS !!
I have Vista 64 installed, and here is still no way to flash back to "OLD" bios from 0405, after tried all tricks shared in this thread, even advertantly corrupt bios to force it flash back to 0107 still fail to load any bios later than 0107 :-)
How long do asus require to release new bios, really getting crazy and angry!
