I believe you can do better than that.
My tip, if you can get 800MHz @3-3-3-9 would be a blast.![]()
I prime95 my system today at 1080mhz with 4GB of ram at 5-5-5-12. It failed after 8h32m. Ain the mouth to say the least. Sure, it lasted 8h which is what most people go by, but to have it fail shortly afterwards leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It technically should have went forever until I stopped it. Why would it go so long then finally fail? I have to make some adjustment someplace. I want it to go for at least 10h before I am satisfied. The setting was 450 X 7 for 3150mhz cpu clock. Not too high on the cpu but I am trying to max out my memory before I up the multi to see what I come up with.

See this review, there's a lot of 4GB testing & setting info.

99% sure its RAM timings or voltage see my list attached @ 8 hours + all that is being tested is ram.
I pretty much always run 1 hour of prime custom 4096k before letting blend run one full 9 & 1/2 hour loop (Thats stable enough for me) which eliminates 8 hour + failures

Thanks for your attachment C-N. Before I write anything off I always try a second time to check for consistency. Not so sure I am glad I did this as I left it running while at work and just came home and 10h have passed and it is still running! Why would one day it fails at 8.5 and the next still be running after 10? To me, if it were going to fail it should have failed close to the same point it did before, if not sooner. I am helping my dad move today so am going to keep it running and see if it is still going when I get back in a few hours. If so I have no clue what to say. I am wondering if it was heat related as the ambient temps were much warmer during the day when the 8.5 h run test failed where as the 10h run was at night when ambients dropped at least a good 5c. I will see how it keeps up today when the ambient temps start to rise again.
BTW, your prime95 attachment was about dead on. At the 10h mark I am well into 1024k which is the restarting point. Good job!
BTW, if it fails again could it possibly be a GTL slightly off tune? I would hate to have to use more voltage as temps are already getting up there. I am thinking since 8.5 is fairly long I may try and adjust the GTL value for the 4th core up/down by one and see how that makes out. Either way, at 8.5h minimum before it fails I am sure my system is stable enough. I highly doubt it will crash during 24/7 use do you?

Stable is whatever you call stable, we are all different, personally one full 9 1/2 hour Prime pass + a night of gaming is stable enough for me.
I found the Prime time line useful when the rig reboots during Priming rather than failing. Prime writes a log you can use to see what fft it failed on. You can then run a custom test at that fft rather than waiting 8 hours for the fault to re appear.
Any number of things could have caused the failure but for my money it would most likely be a RAM issue. I often find that running the 4096k test for an hour or so is enough to find memory issues. I have had plenty of rigs that pass 8 hours + then fail 3DMARK or fail mid game due to running the memory on the edge. I find one hour + of the 4096k test is usually enough to find voltage & timing issues.

and you're posting that here why ?
you naughty little monkey i dont think anyone here has any interest in amd's latest rendition of "crap in a box"
they screwed up their cpu's. they screwed up their video cards.

I plan on getting the DFI LP X38, which looks similiar to this board, but would a Thermalright Extreme 120 fit when it mounted Vertical, horizontal looks it woudnt be a prob, but I need it mounted vertical, without the NB in the way?

Hello guys, A64 guy here with a new build coming up soon.
I plan to get this board since i have a dfi LP right now and love it, together with a Q6600 and Corsair HX520W PSU.
My Q is what memory (4GB) i should get if i shoot for 9x400 - 9x450
My rig is pretty much planned out..still sitting on the memory issue.
Also..would you all recommend this board or does it have some issues i am not aware of ?

Im sorry to have to say this, but 8hrs of prime, and I know alot of you guys swear by 8hrs on here, but for me 8hrs is no-where near enough, its not even 1 complete pass of prime.
prime blend starts by running 1024 literations, for it to run 1 complete pass of all the tests and to reach 1024 again it takes approx 9.5-10 hours, however I have had failiures at 16hrs, even 18hrs, if my system fails prime at all I consider it as unstable, and that in my eyes just wont do, instability leads to corrupt data being written to your hard drives.
a successful prime run for me is 3 complete passes, approx 27hrs, I have freinds who have run it for days on end, to be sure of stability.
this also applies to tests like memtest a quick 1hrs test isnt enough, once again i test upto 5000-10,000%, again about 24hrs to run, and have picked up errors after 4000%+, so your see 500%-1000% just doesnt do it, and as for SuperPI a 1meg test of that fits inside your 8meg CPU cache.

If a person needs to live and die by Prime then yes an extended run is probably in order. After a week or so straight with no errors nightly sleep should come easy. But since no personal use app/game stresses 3 cores much less 4 cores the way Prime does the average 24/7 user will be able to sleep just as easy with a much more abbreviated run.
