I cleared the deck to make room for my EK NB water block in route...
It took a good 10 minutes with the hair dryer, before the stock goop let me gently wiggle the ROG cooling free.
Remove the 4 screws and all pins before starting.
Never pull up! Just gently wiggle side to side. It will start to move when it's ready....
Ware a glove as the sink get's hot with hair dryer heat blowing on it.
Mine was coaxed off successfully.
No damage was done.
I wan't to take that big chunk of Enzotech Forged Copper sink and just glue it to my SB using Arctic Silver Thermal Adhesive, and not the pins at all.
They dont line up correctly, and might grind them off?
Would this be OK to do if I don't plan on removing it again?
Will it hold? The bottom of the sink is pritty smooth....
The Microcool Chipsink Southbridge fits just right, and uses thermal tape to connect to the SB.
This sink is not copper like the Enzotech, and stands higher in the air. It might hit a large card?
Like I said, I would rather use the Enzotech and glue it on 'for keeps' if the AS Thermal Adhesive does a decent job of transferring heat, and stayes strong when heatted up?
The Enzotech Copper sink is much heaveyer than the Microcool.
I don't think our SB get's that hot anyway....
Will it work?
By the way, it's confirmed my Thermalright's don't fit.
Too large for the Maximus SE.
