Water cooling the Asus Maximus SE X38

I am wondering why Clunk had install issues with one of his:
Thermalright HR-09S Mosfet Cooler - Slant Type -or-
Thermalright HR-09U Mosfet Cooler - Upright Type
fitting correctly?

Thermalright thinks they will fit?

Select HR-09 under MOSFET COOLER on top left of screen, then scroll down under ASUS and select X38.

I have serious doubts on the accuracy of their compatibility list. I see the GA-X38-DQ6 is also listed and there's no way you can fit the HR-09 on the MOSFETs as the base is too wide, nor can you fit the HR-05 (either version) on the SB unless they provide a new retaining clip as the hole separation is shorter than any of the 3 clips they previously supplied.
