Glad to know there are people with working RAID-0 setups.

However, are there any people with RAID-0 Seagate/Maxtor setups? because everyone here is using Western Digital.

    HR-05 SLi on NorthBridge

    Hi all
I succesfully removed the stock heatsink to mount my hr-05 sli on nb (thermalright lists it as compatible), but I don't find a way to do it....
I've read that someone here have mounted it succesfully, but I don't find nothing else about in the thread:
please can you help me to mount it?
Thanks and best regards to all!

    E6750 is a dual core!

Right i've had to drop a Celly D into the bord. It no longer works. I keep getting CMOS Checksum BAD.

I've re-flashed it as it tried on it's own but nowt happened at all.

I'm getting sick of crap bord and stuff not working at all!

Fits nicely with a Tuniq and 80 fan. I need to adjust the SB heatsink though for my 8800 gtx and Hr-03sli cooler.

QX9650 Overclocking, first I still can not figure out any way to get BIOS 0701 to allow me to change the CPU multiplier it is always set a 9x (unless I allow ASUS's OC utility to attempt to overclock the chip, from then on it is stuck at 11x). On a releated note after the FSB exceeds 425MHZ prime95 crashes instantly (for every core), this leads me to believe that the issue is not the CPU, but something else any idea what it could be?

    Thanks,
    ERIC

Hi just interested, is the OS on your single drive or on the Raid? I've had hell on for nearly a week trying to get it to work on 2 Samsungs in Raid 0 no matter what I did all I got whilst trying to install is blue screens, if you have done it please would you let us know how to because I really prefer XP.

Yesterday I flashed to 0505, to see if my temps dropped, they didn't so I flashed back to 0701 and immediately had blue screens, then it refused to boot showing all colours on the the led next to the chassis fan connector. I'd try another manufacturer's one if I knew it would be ok but I'm not sure I'd be better off. I've probably spend about £700 so far and I think I'm worse off now then I was before I got this one.. to Asus

OCCT in RAM mode will show the NB and RAM limits much more than Prime95 which will easily pass. They suerely don't use same algorithm for calculations. Also, the last OCCT beta was redesigned in depth for a quad core calculation optimization, unlike Prime95 (same old prime in a multithreading mode). But, to all who say: Only OCCT RAM is bugging, whatt should I do?
Two options. Ignore the error, maybe you'll never use a programs that will stress your system like OCCT, so it will be stable. Or, if you care about your data, use important work and not only gaming, then you should care, soon or later, it will bug, especially on video encoding tools. By the way, Adobe Premiere Pro is a good stability test on a longer run... Also, new divx encoder multipass. They often will bug and close or show error encoding messages, nothing other, wihle all priming is rock stable. As soon as you set a lower clock, they pass again. That's it. You can ignore OCCT errors, but, just remember if you have once application errors or fails, think at lowering your OC before blaming the author or Vista

On this board, you should really try to solve the multiplier issue. Once done, you can get a 4GHz without overclocking your FSB bus on a QX serie

Unscrew them, use a hair dryer for 20sec average so that you can heat the compound stucking at the heatsinks. Remember, never exerce any effort on the heatsink. If you need an effort, just reapply some seconds your hair dryer

GAR bought another motherboard (a Gigabyte), he said it was better, but finally, his overclock is still not above what he got on the Maximus I think. Maybe he could answer you better

Hey guys to answer your questions, the gigabyte is an overall easier board to work with.....the first time i had it i exchanged it only because it was really bad with 4 sticks of ram, i now have only 2 sticks with the g.skill 4gb pc 1000, the gigabyte board let me be stable at 3.843ghz on my cpu, 427x9, and 1066mhz on my ram, but the asus maximus has a higher memory bandwidth and better latency with the same settings.......but overall im happy with the gigabyte, if the asus didnt have the voltage issue i would take that over the gigabyte, but as it stands now i like the gigabyte board a bit better than the maximus.

Also the OCCT issue seems to be present on the gigabyte board as well, the program doesnt crash, but the windows desktop crashes, when everything returns, all i have is occt still running and has not failed with a black background.....so im guessing occt caused something to go wrong and caused the corruption.....weird thing is its still running the program without errors........maybe this program is too unrealistic, i had this issue even at stock settings, no OC........this is on vista x64, im not sure about windows xp.

The RAID 0 is running my OS. I first used the MAKE DISK program off the Driver CD that came with the MB. Then went into BIOS and enabled RAID. Then you need to set it up by hitting "Ctrl I" when booting up. The set up is very easy there. Then just hit the F6 key when it tells you at the start of installing XP. After that there are like 4 options for drivers to install off the floppy. I believe it the last one in the list. It says something about RAID Desktop. (I think)

Many thanks for taking the time to explain in detail as it has helped quite a lot

I hoped I was doing something wrong but I had been doing what you have said, so I fear that there must be something wrong with my motherboard, I have repeated over and over, used many different floppy's 2 different floppy drives used make disk on differnt PC's used the new Intel drivers from their website, even used 2 different sets of hard drives, tried Xp Pro and XP home, completely run out of ideas, the Samsungs I bought at the end of last week because I thought the Barracudas didn't want to play.

I feel a bit disapointed because it's the best overclocking motherboard I've ever had and I have none of the stability or other problems so I would hate to have a RMA on it.

    Thanks again.

Has anyone tried to configure the multiplier on this board using the 0701 BIOS?
Trying to decide if this is a CPU or BIOS issue.

    X48 vs X38
    http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=3150&p=5
Our top screenshots show our initial results when pushing the CPU and memory to an 11x410 setting...
...The Premium board required 1.59375V for the CPU and 1.69V for the MCH while the Deluxe board required 1.64375V and 1.73V respectively
It seems like intel optimized the X48 revision for less voltage needs, hence much heat less. Even the CPU needed a lot less voltage than on the X38: 0.05v for CPU and 0.09 for NB

I'm feeling the X38 was released too early. Great chip, but not a good extreme overclocker. The X38 and X48 boards had same maximum overclock in the end, but with lesser voltage on the X48, it should be much more stable

If these is true, It would be a good jump to the X48 from the X38, Since it will fix cooling problems and overvolts hopefully.

Sounds to me like you lowered your expectations

I am running 4 sticks of OCZ Platinum at 1066 and am really having no complains about the Maximus. I was not able to get 4.1 out oof the CPU...but then again this is not a DFI either

What I expect from Asus (easy clocking) and what I got (twitchy finnicky clocking) might put some people off. But honestly once you learn the board and take advantage of it's strengths it's a solid performer.
