Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with 2x120mm Sharkoon Silent Eagle 200rpm ~75cfm in push pull, in from NB area, out into 200mm top exhaust.

The way the TRUE is mounted (top to bottom airflow) gets me better temps on the CPU by about 7*c over front to back airflow, but it seems to leave a dead spot around my CPU area, especially caps and vregs and mosfets and all that other kit tucked in there. I'll try to dig out a temp sensor later/tomorrow and measure the temps down in there. I'm also going to gut the case and build it on my bench again, so I can prop up a million fans on anything vaguely warm...!

keep us posted! i'm running OCCT beta in high ram mode. temps seem alright i think (CPU 55*, MB 28*, NB 49*, SB 39*). so far and it's been an hour. NB is still on air but will be WC'ed when i get new vid cards and blocks for them. how is that NB temp anyway? is it good/bad?

If I go to My Computer, my C: drive, which is 2x 36gb Raptors is fine, no delays or anything. If I select my E: Drive which is a 320gb SATA2 drive in Dynamic mode, there is a freeze/pause before I can navigate to any of the folders, only for a second or so. Is this the sort of thing your talking about?

Don't think so, you are probably just describing your drive waking up from sleep state.
The pauses I experience last between 10 and 30 seconds, sometimes indefinitely until I force-restart the machine.

I never thought about a possible issue using a PATA DVD drive. I was able to install Vista x64 onto a RAIDO array with no F6 drivers, etc. and it's worked without issue for a few weeks now. I'm running a SATA DVD and have nothing even hooked up to the PATA port. Since JMicron is the only way to get PATA support there may be some odd conflict. The JMicron controller on the P5WDH was a PITA.

Hopefully thi will help somebody put the puzzle together.

That's what I speculated, but you are not using Maxtor/Seagate drives, and most other brands do not seem to be exposed to the same timeout issues.
If you were using Maxtor/Seagate drives, it would have been great if you were able to plug in a IDE DVD-RW just to test.

Well it never happened on my P5N32-SLI board with the same setup so somethings not right!!

Any thoughts on my post above ref 460FSB? Saying that, I just upped my timings from 5-5-5-12 to 5-5-5-15 and have managed 455FSB! Will progress further in a sec unless you have any other suggestions??

Try a different memory divider to see if that helps, you might be able to push things further.

Sorry to be really simple, but how do I try a different memory divider?

NB was sitting @ 55*c Load with 1.73v (Bios). Just dropped all my volts right down, because one of them too high is causing reboots, it's either vPLL or vFSBT but I can't determine which...?

Now running same settings as in sig (9x425, 3.825GHz) with:

    vCore - 1.525v - 1.520v LOAD
    vPLL - 1.50v
    vNB - 1.45v
    vDimm - 2.1v
    vFSBT - 1.3v

vDroop done on CPU (can't seem to undo it now, tried cleaning it off several times... lol )

Folding again, as I find if OCCT fails, Folding will, but not as Fast, and if Folding fails, OCCT will but obviously in a fraction of the time. So why not get my WU pumping while I test, eh?!

so i was running my OCCT beta all the way on 1024 RAM and i had a "The system has recovered from a serious error" thing pop up and everything that was running on screen shut down... any ideas? does this mean that it wasn't stable?

Hmmn... After several No Post attempts at changing the FSB Strap from 400 to 333 then increasing the FSB I am still stuck. Could you elaborate a little more on what you would try next?? I am managing to boot in at 455FSB but even taking jumps higher than that in case of a hole its a no go. It gets stuck on Det DRAM everytime.

Sorry for the requests but i'm still learning!

if you're running trans boster set it to disable and set relax to 1 and enable static read... not sure if you've tride it but it's worth a shot. i had better results with the above setup.

Almost had the same settings but changed from rlx 0 to 1. I am now typing this at 465fsb rather than 455fsb! Thats a whole 1ghz overclock now. 2.33ghz to 3.255ghz (465x7) Huzzah!!!

    Any more hints?!?

Ok, I did some stress testing via Everest. Its a impressive stress tester. But Here is some anomalies i picked up.

Also, Remember, I tried to do with low volts, The memory is at 2.20 volts in bios.

Sorry to insist, but should I buy these sticks 2x1Gb of ballistix tracer PC2-8500 or the overclock spotted in many reviews can't be always handled on the Maximus?

    Thank you again
Sorry man I missed this post! I am going to be trying a set of OCZ Reapers next. They should be here next week. I'll be keeping the Crucial's as well, but I wish to try something else in this board, something that has a higher warranty-able voltage envelope. The Reapers are good up to 2.35 volts according to OCZ.

And, yes, our systems are very similar. I've actually been pretty happy so far. You?
Yea I love my rig man! The only thing that's pissing me off is that Crossfire isn't giving any performance gains in Crysis....meh.
WHen in the hell will ATI release the 7.11 Catalysts????????

BTW I just noticed that my board is overvolting the PLL voltage from 1.51 to 1.61!!!!!! WTF!

Its about 37F in my room right now, Personally I'm freezing my ass off here. But I got my Q6600 to really low temps especially on these motherboard.

    Unable to go over FSB440

    Good day gentlemen,

I have a problem. I can't seem to get my mobo over an FSB of 440. I let the memory run on 1:1 so that this can't be the problem. Also I dropped the CPU multiplier to 7 ( I know the CPU can run at 3500 Mhz+ so that can't be the problem eiteher. When I use this settings the system won't boot:

    Extreme Tweaker
    Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
OC From CPU Level Up : AUTO
    CPU Ratio Control : Manual
    - Ratio CMOS Setting : 7
    FSB Frequency : 450
FSB Strap to North Bridge : auto
    PCI-E Frequency: 100
    DRAM Frequency: DDR2-900
    DRAM Command Rate : 2T
    DRAM Timing Control: Manual
    CAS# Latency : 5
    RAS# to CAS# Delay : 5
    RAS# Precharge : 5
    RAS# ActivateTime : 15

    CPU Voltage : 1.4000
    CPU PLL Voltage : 1.52
    North Bridge Voltage : auto
    DRAM Voltage : 2.20

When I turn the FSB to 440 there's no problem. Anyone have suggestions??

    Specs:

    mobo: Maximus Formula
    CPU: 6750
    Mem: Crucial Ballistix PC8500
    Cooling: TT Big Typhoon

    Thanks!
