ATI probably tried to clock HD 3870 as high as possible, overclock seems pretty pathetic to me, 83mhz on the core and 225mhz on memory (and this is from vr-zone).

Mascaras or a mod, please flag the TechSpot review in the OP, due to the obviously made-up results (or at the very best a cut-and-paste mistake, but the OS is obviously no mistake) as proof below.

They just took out the card from the site !!!! I think they post it too early ...

Was able to send it trough as well ... same card as you also

Hope they are not going to shoot the messenger and penalize us ... but I doubt NCIX will do that, I always have a good service from them ... Will keep you posted ...

Gibberish, what I asked for is cut and dry. Also, as you already proved, the 2 SS are not "almost exactly the same frame"

Edit: Come to think of it, the rocks, the truck and bush (to the lower right) do look a tad more defined in my earlier pics. Another example is a small patch of grass in the bottom portion of the pics (right of center between the 2 boulders and 1 large rock forming a triangle) that look a tad more defined in my early pic. More subtle then anything...
Now stop editing that post I can't quote it!

So You spot a difference, You think the rocks, grass and bushes looks better on your card?!
It's possible and You can stay there and stare at those, take your time, in the mean while I'll continue to next level.

It's great with did this compare because now everybody knows 8800GT/S and HD2900XT/HD3870 offers similar or perhaps even identical IQ in Crysis.
    Don't You think?!

The purpose of my pics was to see if there was any changes in IQ do to LOD at different elevations. Some complained that the pics from the review were not exactly the same thus altering IQ. Because there is no change from the 2 pics I've posted we have to take the reviewer's pics at face value. It is what it is and there are differences found even though the pics are not exactly the same.

They probably tried to clock as high as possible for a given (low) tdp that would still allow for overdrive.

If they wanted they could pull a 2900xt and up the wattage to 300 and give it a dustbuster and probably clock it to 1000mhz

i think they just got overly sensitive to the noise/heat issue after being beaten with it for 2 generations

    You can cancel it...

3870 CrossFire is impressive, and it can only get better with driver releases, but that's the problem. If you want to wait for better performance when newer drivers are released...

I myself, would go with 3870 CrossFire

It seems that there is some hard limit after 860Mhz, atleast with CCC.
