    Trasaction Booster off, lvl 1
    VDimm 2,00V Bios - 2,05V Everest

I can`t get the ram above 1000Mhz and I tried a lot: voltage from 1,90V-2,16V Bios, strap 400/333, transaktion booster off lvl0-7.
I hope that the Transcend 1200Mhz will fix this problem

So...I already got 4.2Ghz max, but not stable.

i've booted in 4.1 but it wasn't even close to stable. i'd love to see 4 or 4.1 stable. especially since my temps don't seem to go over 55C or so under full load.

is there anything you'd like me to try besides a longer OCCT beta run? i'll set to low priority and run again. does it still work just as well at testing when it's low priority? i assume that it's still taxing the system just as much but allowing you to use programs when needed (which take up resources that OCCT would normally be using so it's still taxing the same)... correct?

I almost got 4ghz stable with under 1.475 volts!

    w00tness for me.

I'm taking the time to install crysis.

jonny_ftm, after what you said about the NB-RAM subsystem being the troublesome area, I decided to retry a few things. Using all voltages except ram @ 1 below red ( vPLL = 1.8v, vNB = 1.73v, vDimm = 2.26v, vFSBT 1.6v. I know vPLL is VERY high, but I wanted to ensure stabilty ) I just passed OCCT Beta 1.2 Auto 30minute test. About to try the 1hour Custom Test with 1024MB ram selected...!

Also, I'm not sure if it's permanant but my Full Load issues seem to have vanished with Folding/Prime now @ 1.575v!!! Only change is new OCCT being used a few times?

EDIT: Also, the new OCCT Beta 1.2 doesn't have an option in the Custom tests for RAM or CPU, just the duration of the test? Is this normal? Will it still stress the system as much? I assume it's a BLEND kind of test now, incorperating both CPU and RAM tests?

It has a choice, a Slider, Look for the slider in the beta, You can move it to CPU or Memory or in between. To stress them.

My bad. I didn't even see that it says "CPU" and "RAM"... I just saw the "RAM" part and assumed it was for the Ram only! :$

Right, so in the middle works like a Blend test and then to the extreme left or right works the CPU or RAM, respectively?

Im running at 467 now and its stable enough to run 3dmark06 on loop and run superpi as much as I want but my cooling cant take the quad heat so if I were to load up all cores for a lengthy time say folding all day or something then I would gradually get to warm and crash.

You are courageous my friend! Well as long as your temps are good your actual voltage is still under absolute max according to Intel.

Well Itried a couple more settings and I just can't POST over 400 FSB. I set my VCore to 1.55V and I've tried lowering my multiplier to 7...no go.
This kinda sucks because I could do 450*8 all day long on my P5K Deluxe....no biggie though, as I bought this board for Crossfire performance.
I'd like to see some higher FSB and memory stability in the newer BIOS.
ANother thing that sucks is that I have to change out my Value RAM every time I reset the CMOS, and the PUS cycle trick never really works with this board.

I hooked up a temp diode to the opt1 header and I'm getting 4C (39.2F) in BIOS and in PC Probe for ambient air temp in my case.....LOL I wish. Either I have a bugged diode or they screwed the pooch on this BIOS. I have a feeling it's the latter, because this sensor is right out of the bag.....brand new.

Like with Prime and Orthos, setting the priority to normal won't impact on the stability test, it will only allow the system when it needs it to be responsive. Unless you don't play Crysis while benching, it should be ok :-)

The priority selection looks buggy in this beta, the author knows it too. If you set lowest priority in this beta I noted it acts like normal

If you're already stable in Prime95 small FFT or OCCT CPU mode, then yep, only the OCCT RAM is missing to see if that NB-RAM is stable

I'm really getting more and more tempted now by the Maximus, seing more and more people getting above the 3.8GHz on the quad core. I can't spend the money in a bad board than get screwed, can't afford it. That's why I'm trying to help people here to bench it till the limits (well, TAT should be the max for CPU only, but it is really useless because only theorical). Personally, I think many issues are suerely related to the passive cooling clearly not sufficient for an extreme overclock in my opinion, and of course to bios bugs

Right, so in the middle works like a Blend test and then to the extreme left or right works the CPU or RAM, respectively?
Not exactly. Blend in Prime will use all your memory. OCCT needs now 1Gb free. So people with less than 2Gb total RAM can't run RAM test.
I made many tests comparing OCCT RAM and CPU modes to Prime small, large and blend modes. Prime95, in all 3 modes will put much load and heat on the CPU than OCCT (about 3 to 5°C). Also, Prime95 has a linear constant CPU temperature curve. OCCT has a kind of oscilloscopic curve. Theorically, I thought Prime is better: more heat, stable load...

In practice, RAM mode can't be matched, as Prime95 will be rock solid while OCCT will bug/reboot your PC in some mn if unstable. Also, the CPU mode, is in all my tests as efficient as Prime95 small FFT

The one thing in OCCT, forget that Auto mode and 30mn stable message. It will by the way be removed in final release I think

I'm gonna buy a DDR2 kit to try to better OC my Q6600 on my P5B deluxe. I'd like a kit that will support the Maximus on a near future upgrade

Anyone has an idea on this cheap kit:
    KINGSTON HyperX KHX9600D2K2/2G, 2048MB, PC2-1200, CL5-5-5-15

You think it will be a go with the Maximus
