Which one exactly you refer to NB/SB 3, cant seems to find one from everywhere...

EDIT: Nevermind, i think you will are building it, not release yet. So it will be brand new mosfet, NB/SB set...

[QUOTE=disclaimer* i can not yet PROVE the fusion block is not aluminum. what i can prove is the fins surrounding it are aluminum which is expected but the block itself never allows the water to touch that part of the cooling system. i took a good hour when i received the board looking at this very carefully trying to figure what it is made out of and weather it comes in contact with aluminum. i started scraping at the fusion block and got a small piece off and there was no aluminum under it. the fins on the other hand to the left of the block are painted aluminum anything slightly sharp will scrape the paint off.[/QUOTE]

Today I port matched the Fusions block inlet/outlet to the barbs i.d. Got copper shavings in the process. The block itself is copper "not" aluminum.

Wow! That's impressive that they would use copper. It looks like I was wrong, must have been the grit of sandpaper they use that threw me off. Probably used something real low like 20-40 grit to get that finish.

Some data re WCing the Fusion Block here:
    http://www.virtual-hideout.net/revie...e/index6.shtml
"And what about the Fusion chipset water block integrated in to the heat pipes? While the temperatures were typically around 42 C idle and 52 C load, water cooling didn't bring the temperatures down quite as far as hoped. The temps dropped about 6 C, but this didn't afford any extra performance in terms of overclocking. This isn't really a big surprise given the design of the integrated Fusion. Every water block to cross the test bench in the past year have all had a matrix machined in to the block's copper internal base. The Fusion has a flat internal surface which means there isn't any kind of turbulence or have an increase of surface area that would draw more heat for the water to carry away. In all truth, this isn't so much a bad thing since it really means that the system is optimally tuned and really could have done without the extra block."

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6.

I'm also using the MCW30 on the NB and the Apogee GTX with copper top on the CPU - seems to be a popular combo
    aoe Dremelled his.

He is the only team player that has reported data back on the subject.... So far.

Sweet mod, but didn't make the confirmed 'stock fit list'.

I believe we can call it an official 'dam near'!

I believe this is still current:
    __________________________________________________ ________________________________
A recap of the 'Confirmed block fit list' for the Maximus SE:

CPU - D-TEK FuZion, Swiftech GTX,
Use a Thermal compound like AS-5 or AS-Premium Ceramique to attach the block to the chip.

    PWM's - EK X38 Block (T - 10 days), or (ASUS 3 mosfet block with mod) http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/foru...pic.php?t=1570
Use AS-Ceramique Paste to attach the block to the chip.

    North Bridge - DangerDen Maze4, Swiftech MCW30, EK X38 NB Block (T - 10 days),
Use XXXXXX to attach the block to the chip.

South Bridge - Non existant pre-made block for X38, Ramsinks,
Use XXXXXX to attach the ramsinks to the chip.

FYI - The hole spacings: X38 hole spacing is 64.43mm, ICH9R SB is 55.64mm, Mosfet is 84.71mm.
    __________________________________________________ ________________________________

Please correct if any inaccuracies/additions and re-post.
If you know the best thermal compound/type to attach each one, please fill it in.

I believe it is less than 10 days now on the EK blocks now?
For EK specific questions questions, Eddy prefers to be contacted with a PM or direct e-mail info(at)ekwaterblocks.com

I'm guessing he is one buisy dude right now...

NOTE: I would love to see a NB replacement block made, for the stock NB Fusion block on the Maximus SE, made for 1/2" hose, but still tied into the heatpipe in exactly the same way as the origional.

I want a direct replacemant unit, with a performance increase.

    My rigs latest picture...
My GPU power connector is looking like it is connected to a fan, it's just waiting for a new card!

What's the going price on this board? Was surprised to see PPC saying 18% reduced from usual retail.

Yes. My current plan is to go from Waterkeg to CPU, to stock Fusion bolck, to GPU, then back to the Keg.

I think between all the fans in my case, and the stock copper block should be enouigh to not hold beck my performance due to high NB temps.

Got my first water-cooled rig up and running a couple of days ago using this board. Anyone else got a duff CPU temperature sensor? I know they are reknown for being wildly inaccurate, but mine hovers around 18-19C. As much as I wish that were true, I doubt my PA120.2 and Fuzion are bringing the CPU temp below ambient.

Eddy please what ever it is you do just make NB only for X38 EK-X38 call it and be done. Do not make it to fit the SB as well. As far as i know a std Asus EK SB/NB will fit the SB. I'll get one and test it. The X38 does need all 4 mounts to mount the block. Make the NF4 Intel one smaller for the X38 and ya sorted!

Think you mean not to buy Koolance and to wait for yours. I want a set to test Eddy! After all it was me that gave you the photos and measurments and highlighted the problem!

Erm it fits anyway! Just have to mod the top, cut it, file it and drill new holes. I used a sliver DD RBX on my X975 NB with a custom made top worked better than everything eles i used!

I am running the stock ROG Fusion cooler, until I decide I need more.
I hope you don't have the same problems that others have had trying to remove the actual heatsink.

*edit* Some people have had some terrible luck, looks like they've used some glue / epoxy on the NB and if you try to remove it after using the board it can get messy.

It does look like that is the key for now.

I was about 5 minutes away from purchasing one when I found that out too. So going to wait because initially I wasn't going to cool to chipset straight away, who really wants to be stuck with a board where you can't remove the stock cooling!

Heh, that's funny. I don't blame you because it's mass produced and who knows how long it will last, especially people with a crapload of aluminum in their loop or other junk. But don't blame Asus for an above average attempt IMHO.

I am not removing mine. I will leak check it with paper towles, and the unit powered off. I will run my WaterKeg off of another PC.

Removing it looked like a battle to me I didnt want to fight.

Here is my discussion on the matter:
