Me either... I've got a pair for SLI on order with ExcaliberPC already, so they should be in my hands next week. Can't wait... shame that they're in CA though, I'm in CT too so shipping will take a bit longer since it's via ground. I'll probably have to grab something to help cool them further from the sounds of it, though
! I don't have any older, nicer coolers for these already either.
Anyone know when Newegg is going to have them in stock ?
No pre-order allow perhaps ?

I don't know, but I just found them for $233 each on a good-enough site (ordering 2 of them from Onsale.com which is a sub-company of pc/macmall)... actually going to cancel my Excaliber order as it's so much cheaper (good $40 savings with overnight shipping even! vs. ground and higher price at Excal) and place it there with overnight shipping. Plus, by going through the FatWallet.com site, I'll get another $9.50 as a check in about a month back on the purchase too. I sincerely doubt even Newegg will be able to beat that price, and this way I don't have to snipe 2 of them off of there, possibly even missing it entirely.

I'm contemplating getting an 8800GT...since i need a new videocard and dunno if ATI is gonna release another crap card.
Anyway, I called onsale.com to check the status (since website says to call, cause it's not in stock)... and the sales person i spoke to said they had no idea when they'd get them in... asked me if i wanted to leave my phone number. I declined and said i'd just check back on the website periodically.
Just giving you a heads up before you place orders/cancel them at a million sites
edit: i placed an order with them.. i hate being a compulsive buyer, just wanting to buy stuff lol

I called onsale up and spoke to the warehouse manager.
They have zero idea on how many they will be getting in shipment and the website does not have an accurate count to tell you if you will be getting one or if it's on backorder.
There ratings on resellerratings aren't bad, but I hate dealing with companies that do restock fees, especially when the products are on backorder and they have no idea when they are getting new shipments in..

Yeah, that's what every other merchant I tried said too... so I just went with OnSale since they had cheap overnight shipping and were the lowest price around by a good $10 a card basically, excluding the shipping being inexpensive as heck ($17 for 2 cards FedEx overnight!!, most places want $14 for ground shipping from CA for these).
Yeah, I thought so too, cheap overnight shipping sealed the deal. Saving $40ish instantly over my Excaliber order, + $9ish rebate from FatWallet's e-rebates program, with overnight shipping rather than ground to boot.

The temp is still a mystery to me, it just sounds too much for 65nm even for a weak cooling solution. It has to be REALLY crap cooler design then if it will bring temps almost as high as my leadtek POS 6800GT custom single slot cooler or perhaps was it badly seated (not sure) but it needed 2x120mm fans around the card with stock cooler to provide temps as "low" as up to ~87C load overclocked. Without the extra fans around it, it would have been like 95-98C load and switching to a Zalman VF700-CU provided about ~17C load temp drop.
I still wouldn't be too suprised if either they had the worst ambient temps ever or the heatsink is making bad contact. 90nm to 65nm is a big difference, as we've seen lots of comparisions between this with CPUs and it does quite a difference, now it does for sure also do for GPUs.

yep, however the clocks are also higher in the 8800GT and the cooler seems not so good as the 8800GTS 320/640M
8800GTS @ 90nm @ Dual slot solution >> 500mhz core - 1600mhz memory - 1200mhz shader
8800GT @ 65nm @ single slot solution >> 600mhz core & 1800mhz memory - 1500mhz shader
that also afects Temps, however i think 86º its very hot & strange , maybe something wrong or bad software readings ................
regards

Yes it's got higher clocks but higher clocks and staying at similiar volts won't improve heat a lot at all, at least it never has for me only a couple of degrees at most. So yea either it's something weird about software reading or the sample used the heatsink has bad contact or the volts have been increased for the card for some reason altho I wouldn't expect that with a 90 -> 65nm jump despite a bit higher clocks applied. And seeing how it consumes less power than a 8800GTS makes me even more suspicious about that temp. I'm still guessing I'll be seeing around 65C at stock clocks in my caseless setup + the winter's coming and sub 0C temps outside helps usually a bit too.![]()

Yeah, I'm still debating what to do for a cooler, not sure whether to see if the stock one will handle a nice overclock or just spend $35ish each card for a cooler (so $75 extra shipped roughly) and hope it really helps a lot. I do like the fact that the one I'm looking at would exhaust hot air out the back of the case instead of dumping each card's heat back into it.
