I don't understand posts like this. For the last year the 8800GTX has been the fastest card you can buy. It still is the fastest card. You buy hardware knowing it that it is already obsolete. Something will always come around that is faster and cheaper. Frankly, the 8800GTX has had a long life span. It will most likely reign supreme for a total of 16 months which is quite long in this industry.
Isn't there supposed to be a price drop of $100 for the GTX in November? I'm contemplating whether to buy another GTX when the price drops so I can SLI, or wait another 4 or 5 months for the next version of the GTX to come out. That card will be a monster given what the GT is doing now!
The awesome results of the 8800GT should be exciting to everyone. To think that GTX owners are crying because a newer, better card has come out is naive at best.
he is talking about people who bought GTX less than month ago ...in this case he is right ....
well, im in the predicament that everyone else is in. i want dx10.1 but i have no confidence in amd's card lol.

Well think of this way.
The gt is clocked at 600 while the specs are showing benchmarks are gts cards clocked at 500.
Why not show the gts clocked at 600/1800mhz to show a true comparison of the cards.
I personally do not think this is worth the upgrade to go from a gts to a card thats 10% faster for the same price.
I will wait for the newer gts or gtx.
Asus P6T, I7-920, 6gb ocz xmp, 4890, Raid 0-1 Terabyte, full watercooled - Triple Loop 5 radiators
This is not what both cards can do at the same clock, this is what both cards can do as they are.
The preliminary results we have so far are very impressive in the sense that most of the time this card slides in between the 8800 GTS 640 (Old) and the 8800 GTX. This is great in terms of performance per dollar.
This is obviously why there is a 8800 GTS 640 Rev.2 coming out, because having the 8800 GT beat the 8800 GTS 640 stock "most of the time" is not acceptable. It needs to perform better to justify it's price point.

What is the length of 8800GT? Is it longer than 8800GTS? Is it going to use less power than 8800GTS? I hope my NeoHE 500W will do the job. Thanks.

good 3dmark 2006 score .
now we only need a review with Games to compare with GTX .............
btw: from the Expreview (translated) :
looks like the confirmation of 8800GT doesnt suport DX10.1In the new generation of AMD new cards, in addition to using the new 55 nm process, also focus on DirectX10.1 above, and this is also something NVIDIA graphics (including the 8800 GT) do not have, a lot of players have also become the minds of scruples matter. The DX10.1 views, we ask a number of hardware enthusiasts, to look at their views
regards
