Well being the IP35-Pro has the P35 chipset, and me having already baught 2 Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB Drives, it is a fair bet that I would have that latest Raptor revision.

Do you think it might be pritty good odds that the Pro and the WD1500ADFD combo might not be a smart choice for me?

X38 replaces P35 correct?

Abits X38 boards might be better for me? I am currently eyeballing that Q9450 Penryn chip for $316.00 Q1 2008. I think i'm going to run my C2D processor until then in whatever mobo I end up selecting.

After a bit more beta testing is over, Abit should start shipping the boards with the latest bios improvements already installed.....

I wonder if that will be much longer? I'm guessing not.

I am hoping to get a board that is up to date with the latest bios, and ready to be installed when I open the box.

The Abit IP35-Pro is my current favorite.

All the flashing, and wondering how complicated it will be to get actually get a 2 drive RAID 0 Raptor array running off of the mobo has me consirned.

I am a plug and play fan myself. (First build)

For at least a week IP35 Pro version 1.1 boards have been shipping with BIOS 14.

Raptors are the only problematic hard drives with the IP35 series. Many people can run them without issue, but sometimes they are big trouble.

I noticed when overclocking my abit ip35 pro I'm not able to run Core Temp it crashes when i launch it then the pc would do a restart

i had explained back about 3-4 pages that you cannot have your DOS file any longer than 8 alpha-numeric characters for your bios file name.

on top of that, my guide clearly stated to download an official Abit bios so you have the runme.bat and abitfae.bat available to flash automatically...i described that you had to rename the bios file name that is in the runme.bat to the current bios you wanted to flash.

the only thing that i did not get into was "how to" flash via an USB thumbdrive...a properly formatted USB drive acts just like floppy disk/drive when you use the HP format tool.

have you successfully flashed with this latest "16" beta bios?

It might be to the idea that most people aint used to do flashing from usb and working from bios changes.

I would have said something along these lines:
1. download a format tool (HP/link) to format usb key.(some description needed)
2. set it as "fat" up to 2gb usb keys or fat32 for more than 2gb usb key.
3. download a original bios from abit ex: m630a14.zip, unpack and put in a folder on the usb key.
4. download beta bios 16 put it into the same folder as the original folder on the usb key. (3).
5. rename beta bios (M629B_16AT.rar) after unpacking to a short phrase ex: 16.bin due to flashing wont work with 8 letters or more.
6. Now, open the runme.bat file in the map with the originalbios and beta bios, rename the file in runme.bat to the new bios (beta) "16.bin" since when you flash the bios the runme.bat will now flash the new betabios instead of the original one. (runme.bat is the pointer to the bios awdflash will flash)
7. Adjust the boot up sequence in bios so you can boot with the usb key.
8. reload default settings after flash.(more definition needed)

Did I put this in the right order?
I am used to work with computers but not used to program and work with usb and flashing bios from floppy and so on.
Took a bit of reading to get what was wanted and how to do it.

Now I just wait to get the new board since the flashing usb key is rdy to go.

No, the P35 replaced the P965, and if memory serves correctly, the X38 will replace the 975.

I assume that you're using CoreTemp v0,95 which is affected by a bug that results in BSODs.

Download the latest version ( CoreTemp v0,95,4 ) from CoreTemp's website

No, the P35 replaced the P965, and if memory serves correctly, the X38 will replace the 975.

You are totally correct there - everything is shuffling forward
P35 is the new P965
X38 is the new 975x,
Nvidia 7xx boards to come next year
both p35 and x38 are ready for the new penryns coming next year, presumably also the case with nvidia.
I also heard an (unconfirmed) rumour that P35 supports PCI-e 2.0, tho no real confirmation here.

That's why you need more voltage than before ( other boards, Asus probably ? )

I assume that the under voltage is for any memory used, right? My 4gigs of DDR2 800 Ballistix need 2.215v (bios) to be stable with 500mhz - 5/5/5/17. I know 4gigs is harder to clock, but others seem to do a lot better with more than 2gigs.

I just don't want to pass the 2.2v (real) mark, but if there is a small cushion than I might just bump it up some more.

Hey guys, i was hoping someone could tell me if the heatpipe assembly is suppose to swivel at the northbridge heatsink. I removed mine to do the mod and the heatpipe is able to swivel at the northbridge. Is the heatpipe broke our is that suppose to do that?

I don't think there are any aftermarket sinks that fit on the mosfets on this guy.
Could always remove the whole heatpipe assembly and do Ace's heatpipe mod!

Thanks for the advice, thats probably what I will end up doing.

I was wondering though what happened to the liquid in the heatpipe. Could it of leaked on anything vital and cause some problems perhaps? I have not yet tested the board yet. I didnt want to install everything without knowing if the heatpipe was broken yet. I did go ahead and perform the heatpipe mod so as of now it does have the bolts installed into the assembly.

Does anybody know why when i set those 2 subtimings in bios i get different values in memset? For example i manually set both of them to 10 and they seem to be 18 in memset.

So what board do the Raptor boys most select to stay away from P35 and possible communication issues.

Hey, any of you guys notice any Flaws with running latest Intel Chipset Drivers?

I've noticed that when I access my DVD writer, the system seems to hang. I can click on stuff and nothing happens. When the DVD drive finally realizes what's in the drive, all the things I've opened or closed pop up. Like a delay effect. It drives me nuts.

Nvm the above; I went to my usual reading of threads (stickies) and found a great basic overclocking thread that gave good basic info. I'll run 9x multi to reach my goal of 3.0GHz

i don't know what you are trying to do here but i am a little miffed at your failure to re-read the guide and see that the whole guide stresses flashing with floppy disks...i mention USB in passing as the other alternative but i did not want to get into the "how to"...

come on man, you sound educated but your above quote sounds like a man uninformed or you can not read/comprehend worth a damn!

i know at least two people reported the vdimm overvolting so i am not sure why BenchZowner has the opposite...he could have a defective board when it comes to vdimm regulation.

Mine undervolts the dimms too. Not by much and this was with bios 14. Now I'm running the beta 16.
