You should be ok and I believe you should be setting those to 2.2v 4,4,4,12 @ ddr800 after you boot it up. Make sure at Crucial's web site.

my particular flash failure using the USB thumbdrive was my fault...i looked back at that event and i found my error...when it happened twice to me, i knew it was something that i had done incorrectly.

when i formatted my thumbdrive, i incorrectly used the FAT table (FAT16)...with that table, there is a maximum design limitation for a drive...up to 2G's is allowed for a FAT 16 table...my drive was 4G's...so, i screwed the pooch...i since then reformatted the USB drive to FAT32 and i have successfully flashed many times using the switches from my flashing guide link.

the HP tool does not allow you to divide the partition up if you use the "FAT" option to format....design flaw, YES!...but...i should have known better.
I can't seem to find that HP format tool anywhere. And can you explain how you would use the switches for a USB drive. All I see is the .B01 file, no RUNME.BAT or BIN file.

C/o of rlm ... just adjust the HDD setup for USB on the Abit.

    Method I used.

Download HP USB Disk storage utility. Download a DOS image (Links below) and unzip.

Insert USB driver. Run HP USB Disk storage utility and select the DOS option. When prompted for an image direct it to the downloaded dos image (win98boot)

Copy the files awdflash, autoexec and the bios bin file on to your usb.

Restart with key in and go to bios.

Note: Make sure machine is set back to stock settings before flashing

Go to Peripherals -> USB options -> USB storage function and select FDD drive

    Go to Advanced Bios Features

Select USB ZIP (Not USB FDD) as first boot disk under boot priority and disable the rest. RESTART.

Should then boot up and flash automatically.

Note: There are other methods, but this has worked for me

If I remember, this is the DOS Image I used.

Now my problem is that the BIOS does not have a USB-HDD boot option and I can't see the flash drive in the HDD boot order section.

You MUST download the latest stable drivers from ABIT's website which include the runme.bat, etc. Beta does not contain these files. Then you must right click and edit runme.bat to have the same bios name as your beta. I find this pretty funny that your asking this since ACE's Bios Flashing Guide is in your sig

You first must go into integrated peripherals and enable usb mass storage. Then go to your boot device order and set the first three boot devices as usb (there is only 3). USB-HDD,USB-ZIP,USB-CD. Hit F10, yes and wait. It should send you into ms-dos.

Ok well I edited the runme.bat so that the file would now be M629B_16AT.B01. But I get the error that the file is not a .bin file during flash.

Should I change the file extension to .bin?

    Obviously, yes.
Rename the file to M629B_16AT.BIN , and do the same in the runme.bat ( make sure the BIOS filename is exactly the same )

Shorten the file name by removing the AT (M629B_16.BIN)..... dos will not work with a file name that has more than 8 letters/numbers in it.

What are some initial impressions on the newest beta bios?

I'm particularly interested in feedback from Q6600 users. Increased stability? Higher FSB?

Same thing ( FSB/Stability ). [ Q6600/QX6700/QX6850 used, all reached the same FSB with every BIOS version that I've tried ]

Everyday with this motherboard, proves me that Abit has come back for good this time. Great m/b...

Totally stable, without specific problems and as opposed, to the not very far, past, we aren't waiting for a bios to solve a huge prob.

Today i updated bios from 11 to 14, though FlashMenu utility, without any problems. As it happened from 10 to 11 bios upgrade i did.

One note about the new 14 bios. uGuru shows cpu temp way lower and now the gap with CoreTemp has further widened to 15'C off. Something that forced me to reset the EQFan settings. Anyone else experienced this?

i had explained back about 3-4 pages that you cannot have your DOS file any longer than 8 alpha-numeric characters for your bios file name.

on top of that, my guide clearly stated to download an official Abit bios so you have the runme.bat and abitfae.bat available to flash automatically...i described that you had to rename the bios file name that is in the runme.bat to the current bios you wanted to flash.

the only thing that i did not get into was "how to" flash via an USB thumbdrive...a properly formatted USB drive acts just like floppy disk/drive when you use the HP format tool.

have you successfully flashed with this latest "16" beta bios?

After a bit more beta testing is over, Abit should start shipping the boards with the latest bios improvements already installed.....

I wonder if that will be much longer? I'm guessing not.

I am hoping to get a board that is up to date with the latest bios, and ready to be installed when I open the box.

The Abit IP35-Pro is my current favorite.

All the flashing, and wondering how complicated it will be to get actually get a 2 drive RAID 0 Raptor array running off of the mobo has me consirned.

I am a plug and play fan myself. (First build)

doubt if Abit will update the bios for any produced boards...they are probably into gearing up for the X38 board(s).

i heard of a few instances of raptor drives having problems with P35 chipset...i presume it is a hardware revision on the raptor.

raid is very easy to set up on the Pro board...i use two 320G seagate 7200.10 series drives without any problems...in fact, seagate has a 250G model that has comparable SRS speed to the raptor because it has only one platter...of course, it doesn't have the access speed compared to raptor...raptor will always own that one with the 10K rotational speed.
