    Thumbs up 913 Bios

I have been playing with BIOS 913 & found it makes a tad more bandwidth with slightly better latency at the expense of a tad more vNB & vDIMM.

The 913 BIOS also benches realy well IMO, I have had tons of fun & seen some awesome numbers from it.

Here is my rigs sweet spot with the 913 BIOS.

No I have reverted back to using my D-Tek studs to pull the bracket down tight after my spring washer attempt failed last night.

I think I will end up making something to do the job.

Hi C-N, seems like we are running similar clocks. atm I'm 8hrs+ prime95 blend stable at 3.8GHz, but at 422x9 with cpu vtt at 1.5v and nb at 1.53v (GTLs of 112-112-112). I was thinking about trying the 8x multiplier option, so I'll give your settings a shot and see if I don't have to push the volts up too much.

Do you find there's much to be gained from running 475x8 as opposed to 422x9, and are the high vtt and nb volts worth it?

Several hours of either OCCT or Prime at 400x9 would be more indicative of there being no issues.

    Hi Jumba

For me there is a fair bit more bandwidth @ 475 x 8 & the latency is a bit lower too. Its not really the FSB thats making the difference its just that the RAM speed is a bit more optimal for higher CL5 running whilst still on warranted voltages.

My chip appears to be a strange one according to other peoples results it needs high vtt & GTL's hardly effect it.

As for the extra voltage to run 475fsb rather than 422 I would say the extra voltage is not really worth the performance gain you can get for real life 24/7 use but for me personally this board is a DFI & meant to be played & messed about with so I always squeeze what I can out within reason.

The vNB & vDIMM in my post above are just a touch higher up than they need to be to keep the rig stable its just I was playing with slightly tighter RAM timings before I done the Prime run & just left the voltages as they were.

At the end of the day 3.8GHz be it on the 8 or 9 multiplier is real quick anyway on a quad regardless of the multiplier & RAM speed/timings.

Gonna have to try 475. hehe, seems we have the same mobo, cpu and ram (and psu?). It will be an interesting experiment seeing how my rig compares to yours at exact same settings.

Ye do it that will be interesting.

What cooling are you using out of interest?

How old are your OCZ 8500's I ask because I have several sets & up until last weekend I was using my newest set which like high speed & lower voltage compared to my oldest "well beaten up benching set" that I did the above Prime run with which like tighter timings & more voltage .

The 700w GameXtreme does just have enough juice to do the above Its what I normally run 24/7.

Some of your data doesn't match your screenshots. And i would be working on the NB voltage pretty quick.

    @ dzeuk_ph

you temps are very high on all readings. if SG is saying cpu temp is 69deg, then coretemp is probably saying closer to 80deg, and IMO 2.4v+ vdimm is too high for 24/7, even if it still falls under warranted voltage. Also try prime large fft or blend test for stability. small ftt seems to be easier.

i'm on air.. checked Core temp, the highest reading on the core was very much consistent with SG.. sorry if i don't have a screen shot.. will post some soon.. BTW, that prime run was on blend..

    @Praz,

sorry, copy paste the settings from my previous post, forgot the ratio and the memory speed..

lowered nb voltage to 1.65V and Vdimm to 2.42V.. just passed a 30 min occt ram test.. will test with prime..

    OCZ RAM works good

Been tweaking on the OCZ Titanium that just arrived. Have not been brave enough to go for CAS 4 timings lol. But it really made a huge difference. Got the Rig at 8 x 400 1.376 Vcore reported withe 266 strap and the RAM hiked up to 1000 and running a variety of test to see. By a few simply adjustments with MemSet I got a fair decrease in Super Pi times and see no issue with stability. Just ran 3D06 and got a tad higher than usual which is encouraging. going to play with the subtimings a bit more and when I have something conclusive I will post back.

But most importantly the OCZ PCB is UV reactive...and we know how much faster that will make the DFI run...

More in a bit, just got them plugged in a few minutes ago.

    Hey guys,

I must say nice thread, I had a P5B-DLX with a E6400 with some Mushkin PC8500 and was at 3.2GHZ .. nothing fancy here but didn't needed much but my bro wanted to buy my board, cpu, ram, HS and keep it OC so ... I could get a new system

    Here is what's coming atm

    DFI P35-T2R
    Q6600 (Store told me it's 99.9% a G0 ...)
    2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC8500 5-5-5-15
    2 500GB Western Digital AAKS
    Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme with Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F

I'm also keeping some old stuff from my old PC ...

Case Thermaltake Armor with the 25CM Fan on the side panel
    OCZ 700watt PS
    Geforce 7900GTO 512MB
and my Raptor 74GB as OS drive ..

I think I'm gonna upgrade my video card anytime soon, but for now I'm running everything I need to run with it so will wait a bit.

Sooo .. can't wait to get those parts I wish I choose the right parts to do some OC .. would like to hit a 3.2, 3.4 GHZ but with what I read about this board, it seems pretty cool.

I'll post final result when I'm done with it with pics and all if ppl are interrested to see

    Thanks

    Hi MacKaquE

I think you have all the right parts to make a killer rig

I am 100% sure you will be able to hit 3.2-3.4GHz with a GO & this board.

This board has maxed out everything I own CPU, RAM, PSU, Graphics, Drives Me!!! etc etc, I love it even more than my old NF4 Expert & thats saying something.

These items seem to be the common formula for this board huh.

Good luck on your built mate!

Quad Core + 4 Sticks of Memory = NO GO

Anyone else running a Quad Core and 4 sticks of RAM on this board ???

Here's my dillema, Quad G0 Q6600 will do 3.7ghz, I also have 4 sticks of Crucial Ballistix Memory, 2 x 1gb (SPD flashed to PC8000) and 2 x 512gb (PC8000 Original SPD), giving me a total of 3gb, If I run my system with overclocked settings, and all 4 sticks it fails prime everytime, but not on different tests, always on the 16k test, I have discovered this by manually running all the tests that prime blend runs and it only ever fails on 16k, this is with all sorts of voltages tried, from 1.45-1.65 to the NB and 1.35-1.60v to the VTT and playing with the GTL's, always the same result.

However if I remove the 2 x 512gb PC8000 sticks it will blend forever, Right now its blending with minimum voltages at 3.6ghz @ 1.45v, memory at 1000mhz 4-4-4-12 @ 2.17v, FSB VTT @ 1.45v, NB @ 1.45v all other board voltages at Stocks.

On my DFI expert motherboard I always remeber the board would only post and boot with the RAM in a certain colour slots, cant remeber if it was the orange or the yellows, but I do remeber it wouldnt post or boot with the RAM in the other slots, is this still the case with DFI motherboards ? ie 2 slots work and 2 dont.

I see a 4gb kit on the horizion.

I don't know how it is on this board but with the D.F.I Expert board you had to enable the Memory Hole feature.

The kit size mismatch in not likely doing you any favours, or helping the board to default to the correct clock delay settings for each channel, 1gb and 512kb modules will require different clock delay/drive setting points for them to co-operate if at all, personally I would not really choose this route...

Now when it comes to performance 4gb overclocking with matched ram, this board is quite special (in my book anyway), this was done with 2.12vdimm, they are NOT cherry picked sticks. It is more than possible to run 4gb with the right settings. We are working on explanations of how to achieve good fsb's with 4gb. For now here's a little teaser
