so guys, i've just submitted an RMA for my P5K premium... i dont want to spend money on getting a X38 at the moment... and as for OC'ing, i am no pro, but would like this build to be my OC'ing first...
would you recommend this board over P5K Deluxe or Premium?
thanks.

so far im VERY happy with this board so i can just agree with Esau, get this board
but be aware, you will spend quite some time getting infos, and playing arround with all the settings...cause there are...quite a few options in the bios(i had a p5k deluxe aswell...sold it cause...donno..didnt ever feel really comfortable with asus boards...)

Like I have said before anything prior to getting this Motherboard has felt incomplete and lacking in what I expected a Overclocking Motherboard to be although I will say this the Abit IP35 Pro that I had before this is a most excellent board but this board surpasses it in leaps and bounds its just a overclockers Dream come true.
Just waiting on my Cell Shock 4-4-4-12 (PC2 8000) Ram so I can take this board to the Xtreme![]()

Also as a strong point of interest for those of you considering this board the Cooling system that delayed the release of this board was and is well worth the extra wait time PWM area Full tilt Prime 8hrs never climaxes over 51c and NB 50C and mine runs hotter than most I can only imagine how well this cooling system really works with the entire Transpiper/ Copper Plate set up in conjunction with very good water cooling![]()

I'm getting there...
I did an 8 hour prime95 v2.54 large fft run with my G0 Q6600 L725A903 @ 450x8. I brought the CPU VTT voltage down to a level I'm more comfortable with. I found that it's all in the GTL's. At first I was trying using the 67% rule, but after bumping them up progressively (leaving everything else the same), I went from a few minutes before failing large fft to eventually settling on 116/116/117, which allowed the 8 hours without failing.

116 for the GTL is pretty close to 67% with a VTT setting of 1.48V. Have to take into consideration that the VTT voltage set in the BIOS is only within 0.002-0.003 volts of the actual value. Also the GTL setting to actual voltage is a sliding scale. With VTT set at 1.20V a GTL of 125 will be 0.875V. But if VTT is set to 1.43 The same 125 GTL will be 0.975V.
What are you guys using for water-blocks on the NB, SB, and PWM?

i've read that P35 you really dont need WC'ing on NB/SB...
unfortunately, i've already received the EK ASUS NB/SB blocks when i was planning to base my build on a P5K premium...
now i've RMA'd the P5K... and waiting to see when i receive the DFI...

Nothing... It certainly doesn't need it at 500mhz bus. Not hot at all. Runs 4ghz as listed in my sig orthos stable for 12 hours and the n/b and pwm temps never go over 55. this is in an enclosed internal case, not an open system, and no transpiper installed. Also, I live in Arizona, and my ambient temp is 82 degrees F in my house.
