it has a 24 and a 4 pin aux conector not an 8 pin aux conector.

Odds are you could MAKE it work. However, why would you want to? I'd spend the money on a better PSU first and foremost.

Why buy O/C components with just a decent PSU?

I ordered this from Newegg...I hope it does better with quads than my Abit IP35-PRO does...it sems that DFI's own "transaction booster" doesn't work properly? Strange that they would include it when droop seemed quite minimal from what I've seen people in people's posts.

Slightly off topic but my IP35 Pro rocks with C2D & Quad what problems were you having?

    Q6600 @ 3700MHz http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m...208%203700MHz/

    E6600 @ 3760MHz http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m...208%203760MHz/

I just got the DFI last night hooked it up & within an hour ran 525 x 7 3D stable with my E6600 on the stock Intel Heatsink!!!

Although I could run 540fsb on the IP35 Pro it was not stable & would freeze in 3D (3DMARK01, 03 ,05 06 etc) so I think the DFI will definitely run higher fsb easier however it is atm (very early days) on auto timings & significantly slower than my ASUS P5K & Abit IP35 so its going to take a lot of tweaking

I also had problems with CPU-Z v 1.40.8 BETA so found v1.41.0 BETA which is reporting 1.536v @ idle with the vdroop thingy enabled in the BIOS, the actual vcore set in the BIOS is 1.50v so as you can see its not drooping much & as you are probably aware is considerably less droop than the IP35 Pro.

I have only played roughly for a few hours with the DFI but so far it looks to only droop 0.02-0.03v with light ish vcore (1.50) under load which is great.

Try using the PSU calculator...coz i think IMO Quads need more than 480w power

525FSB seems to be the sweet spot. If the processor is up to the task that speed can be done with default board voltages.

Vdroop is mislabeled in the BIOS. Disabled is actually enabled.

    THERMALRIGHT ULTRA-120 EXTREME
    MX-2 PASTE
    4 X 1GB CRUCIAL BALLISTIX TRACER PC2-8500
    EVGA 8800 ULTRA

From my current setup I will be using the following with the new parts:

Anyone have problems with 4 x 1GB of RAM? I am having problems with 4 sticks of G.Skill 800. I can run either set I have by itself, but if I try both it starts loading Windows and restarts.

memtest86+ v1.70 is your friend and play with clk fine delay values as well.. but i have yet to test 4x1GB myself so not sure.

2:3 divider with 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 Micron D9GMH modules. DFI LP UT P35-T2R has very tight default performance level on 2:3 divider at Performance Level = 4! So be sure to have nice Micron D9xxx modules if you run Performance level = AUTO in bios

    • 500mhz 4-4-4-9 AUTO sub timings with AUTO Enhanced Data Transmit/Enhance Addressing at 2.15v bios
    • 535mhz 4-4-4-9 AUTO sub timings with AUTO Enhanced Data Transmit/Enhance Addressing at 2.27v bios
    • 558mhz 4-4-4-9 AUTO sub timings with AUTO Enhanced Data Transmit/Enhance Addressing at 2.38v bios
    • 564mhz 4-4-4-9 AUTO sub timings with AUTO Enhanced Data Transmit/Enhance Addressing at 2.42v bios

Thanks for the reply. You are not talking to an expert here though . I did take this memory from my old machine, and I did run memtest not to long ago because I was thinking of selling it. I don't think it is a problem with the memory. As far as clk fine delay values, I will try and find some info so I can learn what to change there. Thanks

Another question. I am trying to update the BIOS, I have no floppy so I tried the WinFlash program. When I try and run winflash.exe I get this message: OnBoard BIOS Not Award BIOS!, i clikc OK and it just closes. Am I doing something wrong?

DFI has done a good job with clk fine delay auto settings. To fine tune you won't need to adjust more then a couple of notches in either direction. So for I have found for most configurations the auto values are pretty much dead on.

Besides that no other problems and things have seem to be running just fine with this board.
I haven't been able to update my BIOS without a floppy, and I am having the same problems as number 2. It won't boot with 4GB of RAM. Can someone explain how I can flash the BIOS without a floppy? I liked the option ASUS had to flash it in the BIOS off of a USB Drive.

The bios will flash from a USB drive just fine. During bootup press "escape" and choose the boot device as USB.

A bit more detail on using a usb key for flashing your bios.

This is the method I use,

Download HP USB Disk storage utility. Download a DOS image (Links below) and unzip.

Insert USB driver. Run HP USB Disk storage utility and select the DOS option. When prompted for an image direct it to the downloaded dos image (win98boot)

Copy the files awdflash, autoexec and the bios bin file on to your usb.

Restart with key in and go to bios.

Note: Make sure machine is set back to stock settings before flashing

    Ammend

As Praz suggested. Go into Advanced options. Go to Hard Disk Boot Priority and using the numeric + key, move your usb up to the the top (1st device).

    RESTART.

Should then boot up and flash automatically.

Note: There are other methods, but this has worked for me

    Links here:

    HP USB Disk storage utility
    http://www.freebsd.uwaterloo.ca/twik...ot/SP27608.exe

If I remember, this is the DOS Image I used.
    http://www.dewassoc.com/download/Win98boot.zip

    RLM

Note: It's a bit of a mission the first time, but once the usb key is done, it's an easy enough exercise for future bioses

Just thinking about that 4gb issue. Given the fact the new bios 823 has separate CLK settings for each channel (4 of them instead of 2), that may well help.

If for some reason configuring the BIOS is preferred over using the "escape" key on this board there's not much to it. Boot with the USB key connected. In the BIOS go to boot order. Highlight the USB device. Using the + key move it to the top. Save Bios and reboot.

The escape key, sounds a lot easier. Just wasn't familiar with it. Will try that one myself

If you are using Vista64, there is a hotfix that needs to be applied before you can use more than 3GB, otherwise it will BSOD on startup. I do beleive you also have to update the BIOS as well because I have applied the patch and now the BSOD I get says the bios is not acpi compliant.

Update the BIOS. I had the same problem. That fixed it.

I would recomment getting a floppy to update the BIOS...

Winflash doesnt work in Vista64. Use the USB flash drive method explained by RLM above (thanks for that by the way RLM!)
