After i stoped it i've decided to see if it can get some more.. (Note : the vcore was 1.325v manually set .. and the vmem 1.9v .. while the others on auto) I rised to about 3.2Ghz (400x8) and kept the ram settings unchanged.. 1:1 .. it ran dual orthos for about 30 mins again.. and at some point it died.. some nasty pop sound camed out of the mobo.. and a burnt smell.. I sent the mobo back and they replaced it without any comments.. my question is .. Did those auto settings in voltages pump too much voltage in the north bridge? since the only thing that died was the mobo.. and i have the feeling that while i was rising the freq in windows .. the mobo kept upping the voltages.. cand any 1 explain this ?

If I had to guess I'd say that one of those auto settings cranked the voltages to its max and lead to your mobo dying.

I wouldn't leave any settings at Auto. What I did was start off at stock speeds. I set every single voltage to its minimum. Then as I began to OC I checked for stability. So far I have a modest OC @ 3.2ghz but all my voltages are still at minimum with the exception of my cpu (1.35v Bios - 1.295v actual) and my ram 2.10v

Some nice temps you have there. I load orthos large on a tuniq w/ 1200RPM fan and 1.475V @ 65ish w/ ambient of 25.

Guys, I need some help. For some reason my mobo(bios 910) will not allow me to use x9 past about 330. I can use x8 past 400, but would like to hit 3.6 instead of 3.2. Any help? Will post volts and such in a sec

Follow the links in post #1, read and test.

400 has an added tweak. I know, I tested 401 and did not have an issue, but it has been too long ago.

The above values were my starting point.

I am running SPD Enabled because that is my stable value and I get better perfomance. That's 1:1, your running 600Mkz on your ram, my firestix were Elpida chips, they would never do that.

for the sub timing issue, again do some testing for your ram.

    Here's my numbers.

using the 3-10-5-13 subtimings above as my starting point

I've pumped up to 1.5v, but it kicks into this "Windows was shut down unexpectatly" loop. I'm fine with 3.3 right now, just wanna see if i can get it higher lol.

I can prime 480MHz with 1,67V and my NB is watercooled, but i never tested it with the stock heatpipe.. I would give better cooling a try.

Yeah, I use setfsb..... boot from 390 then use setfsb to go up...... I just took off the stock nb heatpipe and reapplied AS5, but instead of using the stock pins, I replaced them with screws...... theyre nice and tight now...... hope it helps

i am convinced that the nb doesn't have adequate stock cooling, the heat pipe running up to the PWM just makes it worse. my temp probe shows it go over 70 under load if you max out FSB term and NB.

I need to try the screw it down idea. I also read some where that some peeps actually got higher oc by lowering the nb v.

I don't mean to spam or anything, but this is simply too huge of news and I figured I'd try to spread the word as fast as possible. I noticed something interesting yesterday. When I had misc. voltages bumped up beyond stock (vmch at 1.6v for example), I noticed that even without a fan connected to the cpu header, I'd get an rpm reading of 42. I figured this must have meant there's a lot of electrical noise in the motherboard. Also, I noticed I wasn't able to pass beyond 460fsb stably, and at 460fsb, I could use all stock voltages.

So that got me to thinking about what spread spectrum did. I've always been told to turn it off and always have. But after thinking about it, I decided to turn it on and try fsb500 with all voltages at stock. Holy mother ing . It posted. I reset it several times (at 460fsb, it'd randomly not post when I had spread spectrum disabled) and it came one each and every time. I'm running memtest #5 and it's passed 4 iterations already. This is simply unbelievable.

My p5b (vanilla mind you) which has never seen beyond 460fsb despite misc. voltage bumps is now sailing at 500fsb with stock voltages across the board.
