Excellent Im always glad when a unit survives the journey to a customers house undamaged.

Alan it should be pretty straigth forward building into a v2000 as its built quite compactly.

The Lian li case came this morning and it will fit easy with the mesuerments ive took but the bottom of the case is thin so im going to place the phase unit on some 3m aluminum checker plate like Gray Mole did on his build 'good idea mate ' then place it in the case and bolt it down .
Im going to take my time with this to make sure everythings perfect no point having a brilliant looking Phase unit and a crap home for it eh .
anyhow my pic's should turn out ok as ive updated the flash unit on my Canon 5D to a speedlite 580EX with Omni-bounce im going to take pic's as i build it then make a post for comments .
I Plan to use my water system on the northbridge if i can i.ll have to wait and see if it dosen't look good its not going in lol .

Cool, post the pics of the v2000 here. Luckilly I did a nice job on the insides so it can be shown off. I took a stupid amount of time just heatshrinking the suction copper inside.

Benchbox rev 2.0 - My Baby R23 Cascade

This project started of as an autocascade, after wasting alot of time trying to get it to work good I got it to work ok but was not happy. I was pretty sure I could get it to work alot better either as a blended singlestage or a small cascade.

With Benchbox rev 1 I got the blend to work really well but on the smaller loads, bigger loads temps was better than non blended but I could not get enough R23 in there and condensed to make it work really well on the bigger loads.

Since R23 does not need extreme temps to condense I was pretty sure I could add a 1/4hp to the mix, hold about -15c on the HX and have a small cascade working well.

I did not add a oilsep since I did not expect temps to be below the freezing point of the oil. It ended up colder but it runs like a dream.

Another nice thing is that its not dependant on the little high stage, the low stage is not pure R23 but a blend of R23/Propane and R402a, it actually still holds a nice load temp even with the highstage completely off.

So in the end I think this unit is unique in many ways, I love it

    Specs:

    High stage:

    Electrolux 9cc 1/4hp compressor
    Part of split 1.2KW condensor
    R290 (Propane) charge
    HX about 4.5m of 3/16" inside 3/8"
    Captube

    Low stage:

    LG 1HP R410a Rotary
    Most of 1.2KW condensor
    R290/R402a/R23 charge
    Captube
    Cold Ice evap

The case is still being made but is 40cm x 40cm x 49cm big, nice and small.

Idles around -91c and does about -71c with 220w

    Pics:

    Side:

    Top-side

    Load testing:

    Idle temp: -91c

    Load 150w: -76.7c

    load 175w: -75.1

    Load 228w: -71.5c

Thats an amazing unit dude, hope you have a good case to go with it too. I like how the temps as the load shoots up doesn't change

That's a very nice cascade What's the high stage temp and low/high stage pressures?

Edit: Seems that I wrote pressure instead of temp

The high stage runs about 200psi highside under max load. The little highstage produces about -20c when the lowstage is running 0 load and about -15c when the lowstage is fully loaded. Its nice and stable, making sure the R23 is condensed fully 100% of the time.

Lowstage highside is about 250PSI under max load. Lowstage lowside is about -15PSI idling and a tad under 0psi loaded fully loaded.

    Thanks for the nice comments

What would needed to be done to make it so you never had to check that the R23 is condensed fully 100% of the time?

Pete, I think you understood me wrong. I mean the little 1/4hp high stage makes sure the R23 is condensed fully by keeping a temp of around -15c on the hx .
