also guys it has been posted on another thread in another forum to go into the bios under the irq settings and reserve an IRQ for a PCI device, that pci device would be the XFi. i think a few guys replied back that it works so try that.

i also posted a rather lengthly response about the reprocussions of doing this on a whim before checking your current IRQ placements over at anandtech. so stop buy there and take a moment to read it. i have made very valid arguments to becareful when you do this as it my have a negative effect.
but only if you dont check your current irq placements prior to manually forcing the X-Fi to an IRQ.
so rea dit. the AT thread is a sticky under the mobo's section.

it seems like a valid arguement that forcing it to a single IRQ could infact work so check it out.

Thing is, on my DQ6 and K8NXP-9 the X-Fi has it's own IRQ...that was never a problem for me, my card is also the original...not the later one with the heatsink, 'cause Creative were cheap b*stards and decided to produce a chip that generated more heat while yield increased.

So i consider my card a good one, since it dosen't need a heatsink...ooh and check out the new Falat1ty card!

$150...X-RAM minus the I/O front bay.

P5B uses solid caps.. err.. yes ?

and lets be honest, switching from non solid state capacitors to the old style is not going to hurt anything. there isnt a noticeable difference when using the two side by side.
all caps do is store power so the solid one may store power more efficiently but not at such a drastic difference that solid caps are the next best thing.
they are better, but not worth writing home about.

Isn't Crosshair only for AM2?? And I think its don't matter if its solid or not, i'm not gonna use a motherboard 10 years or something.

On the SYS_FAN issue...i've done battle with GB tech support about this, they are just STUPID. I don't think English is their native language...telling me my Evercool fan must be the problem, what the hell??

The damn thing is CONNECTED to the SYS_FAN header and spinning like a tornado!, i've connected both fans the the CPU_FAN header...both work and are controlled by bios.

Connect both to the SYS_FAN...tornado alley!, muppets modified the bios is what they did, put it back to the way it was!

Guys, can anyone write a Vdroop mod for the DS3/DS4/DQ6?...these Asus types have been doing alot of modding to get rid of the voltage problem. Thus should we not be banging heads to do the same?

Rich there already is a vdroop mod for these boards its in the motherboard mod section, its been there since very shortly after the boards came out.

but the DQ6 doesnt need vdroop mod it has a wicked vcore rail.
i'd be surprised if your seeing more than 0.02v droop.
but that also depends somewhat on your PSU.

the droop mod for vcore that has been shown here and vr-zone doesnt work and infact will kill your board.
i've talked to Kuunak on this and he said do NOT do the conductive ink mod, it will fry your board.
and after what i saw happen when i tried it,, yes i believe it.

but you can also do a droop mod with a Adjustable Pot or standard 20k resistor.

but frankly and i need you to correct me here if i am wrong... the DQ6 has almost no droop already so modding is it rather pointless dont you suppose ?

    +1

I do find the update curve not giving me any oc improvements though but maybe that's because my mobo was/isn't the weakest piece off the setup. The added mem voltage for the ds3 is nice, only thing that really bothers me is the reboot issue's and double boot issues, also the bios could set thighter subtimings on default imho, if you leave them on auto their way to high. Also, why add the full screen logo Glad I could turn it off though

kenofstephen, good work getting the bugs worked out, props for the effort shown

    Martian.

the defualt timings are EXACTLY what the ram spec's out for.
even my gskill 6400 HZ's which can easily do 1100 4-4-4 or 4-5-4 but not on this board run at their defualt spd at 800 mhz which is 5-5-5-15.
at 667 they spd at 4-4-4 and the board shows that.

it reads the spd right from the ram so blame the ram companies.

at 667 they spd at 4-4-4 and the board shows that.

it reads the spd right from the ram so blame the ram companies.
Nono I said subtimings I know spd's are programmed for compatibility though, but I'm just saying that when left on auto when I oc my ram the higher speed they run the auto settings compensates with looseing those timings to much. I can thighten them myself in the bios or through memset so it's not like the auto settings compensates for a to high oc with lower subtimings. Know what I mean now? Now this is my first intel board so go easy on me if this is normal
