Exclamation Conroe FAQ'S!!! Read this before posting

As Conroe and Allendale starts to get retail, we see tons and tons of new posts always referring to the same questions and keep spamming the Intel forum. Well even if we all started as noob, is it some kind important to READ a little before posting. It's kinda really annoying to regular members here seeing good posts being pushed back too much fast. So this thread is just a little help to guide you to threads (or section) that will answer to 90% of questions of all new member here.

Q: OMG! My Conroe setup is complete and I want to share my xxxx mhz overclock!

A: Do not make a new post please, just post here:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=106321

Q: Help! I have x problem with my Gigabyte DS3!!!

A: Go read this DS3 FAQ before posting:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=110460

Q: Help! I have x problem with my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe!!!!

A: Go read theses 2 sticky before posting:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=110193
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=106563

Q: Help! I have x problem with my BadAxe!

A: Go read this sicky first:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=99298

Q: Help me choose good memory for my Conroe!!!

A: Please have a read in general hardware section:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...splay.php?f=66
    (Thanks sierra_bound)

Q: WTF!!! My Conroe run @ 6*266 instead of X*266!!!

A: It's because of EIST (energy saving option, like Cool'N'Quiet in AMD) read this:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=111229
    (Thanks kenofstephen)

Q: Wich the best aircooling/watercooling setup for conroe? Will it fit on my X motherboard?

A: Please visit aircooling/liquidcooling question and post here:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...splay.php?f=69 (air cooling)
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...splay.php?f=70 (water cooling)
    (Thanks sierra_bound)

Q: OMG my Conroe is burning up!

A: Most temp monitoring software is WAY off, especially Coretemp, and the Intel Badaxe is notorious for reporting ridiculously high temps. But you might want to check contact to be safe, because many Conroes have concave IHSs and need to be lapped.
    (Thanks Absolute 0)

If your question is anything else, do not make new post yet, please try the SEARCH option before.

**Edit** Well rather or not this reference should be a sticky, as many new member didn't read sticky anyway, it should be very nice to link this thread to any "annoying thread" here. So in that way we don't totally ignore new members and MAYBE this will let them understand to do their homework before posting anything.

Well that's all for now. Feel free to enter other annoying questions with link to answer

BTW sorry for my bad english!

    Thanks!

I really wish this thread would help to reduce annoying post. It's kinda strange to have like 3-4 pages of new posts each days. We kinda have more chance to miss posts that give great and valuable info.

There was very good control over this sort of thing during the Opteron craze in the AMD section, it seems to be missing here

Although I would agree that the number of worthless threads has reached epidemic proportions in the Intel section, I'm not sure making this thread a sticky would help a whole lot. Unfortunately there are people who simply want to draw attention to themselves. They will start threads even when they know their question has been asked and answered a million times already. The best thing you can do is ignore those people. That will send the strongest message.

I think tougher enforcement by the mods would also be good. I would like to see more merging of redundant threads, as well as moving threads about coolers and RAM to the appropriate sections. Personally I think general questions about RAM should not go in the Xtreme Bandwidth section. That is more of a General Hardware issue, IMO. I think "Xtreme Bandwidth" should just be about that.

I'm bumping this thread up because I think it's important that members, especially newer ones, read it. Some of us are getting tired of people who are looking for any excuse to start a new thread, even when the subject has been discussed a million times. Some good information is getting buried by the avalanche of threads that are either posted in the wrong section, or which have little substance. If you have a question about RAM, post it in General Hardware. If it's a question about HSF's, post it in the Air Cooling section. Thanks in advance.

I agree, I realize I am just a newbie around here and my opinion means only slightly more than horses*** LOL, but I am on here every single day and when I go away for only 5-7 hours to sleep and wake up and have to sort through 2+ pages of newly posted in threads, something is wrong.

There is nothing wrong with being new or asking questions. What I don't understand is why there needs to be a dozen threads on the same motherboard. There are some well-established threads on particular Conroe/Allendale boards. People with questions about a particular board should post in those threads.

I understand the instinct to start a new thread. People want their thread to stand out from all the others. But when a hundred people are doing the same thing, then it becomes a mess. I have seen threads with very good information get buried in less than 24 hours.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together Charloz24 Might not help since most people won't bother to read it and make more threads anyway but they could find their answers here easily.

I've just pre-ordered an E6600, but since I haven't bought anything Intel since AMD Athlon 64 arrived (my last Intel CPU was a Northwood with an IC-7). I'm surprised there aren't more threads about what motherboard to get along with it. I understood from the Intel "What To Buy" Guide 2006 that the ones to get are the 1) ASUS P5B Deluxe, 2) Gigabyte GA-8I945P-G, 3) Foxconn 945G7MA-8KS2 in that order (ie whichever first your budget allows), but I can't really say there was a detailed explanation of as to why one should pick these SKUs over the rest.

Nor did I see anything about what's coming up (in the near-future), but I noticed Fugger's thread on some new Abit board (new IC-7 mayhap?), supposedly taking up the competition with ASUS.

But dare anyone explain what makes the ASUS the best pick, currently? And is it the best pick under all ATX circumstances? High-end gamimg, HTPC, etc?

(Do note, I asked a very similar question in the "What To Buy" thread, however I'm not sure what thread is better suited for this conversation.)

    Thanks!
