Core I7 Need I Say More
Dear all
Realizing that this thread is for the ud5, the minor differences are inconsequential.
My reason for ranting is simply a very unstable Core I7.
Specs:
Antec p180 case
Antec 1000w True Power Quattro Pro
LG dvd rw
First Mobo ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
Second Mobo EX58 UD4P
CPU Core I7 940
Graphics 295 Nivida
First Set or Ram Kingston 6gb 2000ghz
Second Set of Ram Corsair 6gb 2000ghz
Stock cooling
HD 2x 500gb Seagate
1x SSD 80gb Intel
OK here goes ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 I went through two of those the first had a PCIe failure the second I replaced with EX58 UD4P because I had lost confidence in the board after replacing The Kingston ram the first time.
Realizing I will still having major issues with Ram I replaced Kingston with Corsair on the new EX58 UD4P only to realize that the Corsair ram was faulty and had been pulled by Corsair.
So After much fighting with suppliers got new set of ram new range ok so happy days NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not to be still major heat, stability problems 124 errors win7 to 40 minutes to load random rebooting you name it . So after searching hundreds of pages I find a guy with similar problems, his problem being he swapped Patriot ram 1333 for 1600 happy days no not to be also major stability problems so guy helping him suggested a few step by step remedies the first being RESET CMOS NOT WITH BUTTON BUT JUMPER AS MOBO REMEMBERS CPU PLL VOLTAGE OF PREVIOUS RAM.
Ok so we are on our way oh by the by this has been going on for 3 months now, so mobo a lot cooler stability better not so many random reboots, so I get ssd wack the two 500gb as raid 0 hoping this would increase loading time of win7 not be so a bit of a hunch made SSD No:1 on stata ports leaving a space physically I make both 500gb slaves to SSD and way down made DVD master on one of the last sata ports happy days win 7 loads in 11 minutes.
Now comes the real sh1t, 940 CANNOT I REPEAT CANNOT SUPPORT 2000GHZ RAM ya major expense for nothing but does Intel tell you these things no they do not. So Final settings are as follows:
BCLK 179
CPU Clock Ratio 19
Frequency 3.40
Performance Enhance Standard
QPI 36x
Uncore 20 x 179 3580
XMP disabled
System MEM multiplier 10
Mem Frequency 1796
PCIE Frequency 100hz
Intel Boost Tech Disabled
CPU Core Enabled ALL
CPU Enhanced Halt C1E Disabled
C3/C6/C7 State support Enabled
CPU Thermal Minitor Disabled
CPU Eist Function Disabled
Virtulization Thech Disabled
Bi-Directional Prochot Disabled
LLC Enabled
CPU voltage 1.281
QPI/VTT auto could not set any woltage refused to get past post
CPU PLL 1.8
Pci E 1.5
QPI PLL 1.14
IOH Core 1.4
ICH I/O 1.64
ICH Core 1.240

So Any suggestions would be welcom seems stable Prime 95 hovers 89 90 deg C on stock cooling.
Thanks for Listening
Sincerely
