    1st post re-vamp.

    Hi all,

The thread is getting a little stale so I thought I'd try to get things going again .... who's with me???

I've re-vamped the first post to pool all the overclocking results together & add a few more links to BIOS's etc.

I've also added a couple of lets say "provocative" titles to a few of the result fields .... he he. No doubt a few of you have some hidden away results so get em up .... the gloves are off ... bring it, lol

From what Ive seen I'm pretty sure it is but I'd like confirmation of this too.

Thats what I had it down as guys after testing the temps of both the NB & PWM with a thermal laser gun.

thanks for the credit on smart guardian skin on the 1st page C-N

i killed another high clocker E8400 C0 on UT P45 T3RS last friday by following the E8600 600fsb overclock settings from the PDF on the DFI site.
i'm just trying to reach 571x7 fsb for my 24/7 settings. i don't know why it happens because i'm only using 1.32vcore on intel stock cooler. my temps on 533x7.5 1.31v on cpuz are only 34c idle with intel stock cooler.

i didn't try to change the pll voltage & my highest vtt is only 1.38v. the only thing i did is changing the clockgen voltage to 3.85v
and do the same cpu gtl / nb gtl & fsb vref from the pdf. when i try to save my settings my system won't boot & i saw the diagnostic led has the 88 code. i shutdown my computer then i open it again after 10 sec. but the led is no display after powering the system.

i tried to clear the cmos but it didn't solve my problem so i decided to put the cpu on my UT P35 & same result happens. no display on diagnostic led & no post. i tried to change the bios chip but the same result.

then i bring my 2 mobos to a friend of mine to test the board, his cpu is working on my 2 mobos but when we tried to test my cpu on his board same result happens no post. i killed another high clocker E8400

that cpu did 626x7fsb on air with Lanparty JR P45.

There hasn't been a UT Plus only the DK Plus. I have an A3 DK Plus (typing on it now) but in all honesty it was no better at anything than my non Plus A2 DK.

Bummer :-( I did the same thing several times on my P35 it just kept blowing chips over about 525fsb totally at random. I found on my board anyway it was BIOS specific & DFI must have fixed it as I run 600+ no problem with the newer BIOS's.

I have had no problems at all with the P45's.

it also happened to me twice with UT P35. i killed 2 highclocker E8400. i thought it was the pll voltage together with a combination of high vtt voltage.
but this time is different. i dont change pll voltage at all. i just change the clockgen voltage to 3.85v, vtt to 1.38v, cpu gtl / nb gtl & fsb vref. i don't know what's wrong with my setiings @ 1.32vcore. my temps on stock intel cooler is around 34c on 533x7.5 1.31v
i don't think the cooler is the problem because i didn't reach dangerous level temps on that voltage.

do you think it's the bios?
i use beta LP45DB17 before it happened.
now i tried beta LP45D202 with E5200 while waiting for the replacent of E8400

    thanks!

All I can say is my P35 & I managed to kill & hurt plenty good 45nm chips one after the other using almost stock voltages until DFI came up with a new BIOS. From then on I've tortured & abused the s@*t out of my P35 & not lost or degraded one chip so for me it was the BIOS.

I don't know if this was discussed before, but I have a weird issue here, with enabling AHCI/RAID for the ICH10 SATA interface in the BIOS. Whenever I choose anything different from IDE mode, the system wouldn't boot from neither one of my two HDD's (VelociRaptor 150GB and a Seagate 7200.10 500GB), although both drives are enumerated, visible in the POST screen after the initialization.
Am I doing something wrong, here?

I just bought 8Gb of G.Skill (F2-8500CL5D) I I can't get it to run on any setting other than auto. (If I set it for 266/1066 it won't post)
I got the voltage set on 2.11 and time on 5-5-5-15 and left the rest on auto and if I leave it in auto and bump the FSB up I can get it as high as 1001 but it can't complete Memtest86
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It can't handle 2.1v at 1066 for 4 sticks...just more power than the circuit can handle. Try 1.8v or 1.9v and adjust the memory accordingly. With 900Mhz@1.9v it won't display the post screen half the time, and sometimes only one monitor (or no monitors) display. However, it works enough to be ok. I will probably drop to 1.8v and 865 for a bit easier boot. Corsair Dominator 1066.

Have you been into windows @ 1000 or so & had a look at what the board is setting auto using memset? Perhaps tRFC is too tight or maybe even the performance level too low.

I also found adjusting the DRAM Skews & RCOMP models allowed me to boot 4 1gb sticks well over 1200mhz & 2.4v

I am sure I seen OCZ Tony running 8gb of something at a decent speed on either a P35,X38,X48 or P45 DFI (which all play about the same) have you has a search/google about for people running 8gb on one of these DFI's?

yer were still going just limited on my upgrading atm, got to be a bit more realistic with other things going on in my life.

still i pushed my e8500 upto 4.750GHz lastnight on my old dog of a mobo voltage getting a little high for me tho. was upto 1.43 odd vcore , just to stop it rebooting from small fft's. i didnt get as far a full stability before my balls gave up on me lol

i sold my only other 775pin to my step bro otherwise i might be a little more agressive with my volts, as temps were still below 70c coretemp even @ 4.750GHz.

think i should invite kit round with his machII lol

Ye that was an awesome thread ay... I still have my GGG rig "Old Faithful" although the kids play on it now though.

I've fixed up the 563fsb entry awesome.

He he my C0 E8500 has run all its life at 1.45v, sure it'd be a shame to kill it but it was cheep & I have a backup E1400 if me balls take over & it all goes Pete Tong lol.

I am sure I seen OCZ Tony running 8gb of something at a decent speed on either a P35,X38,X48 or P45 DFI (which all play about the same) have you has a search/google about for people running 8gb on one of these DFI's?

Have you got the PI Blacks or the std G.Skills?

I think you are pumping too many volts to the ram, I would lower your vdimm down to at least manufacturers maximum 2.0 ~ 2.1v & I'm sure you'll find you can run even lower.

Do you need 8GB of ram? why not start with just 4 & see if you can get it stable then work on from there.

I would manually set your performance level back a click or 2 (back to 7 ~ 8) I would also expand the Memset timings tab by clicking on the arrow to the right of the letters "spd" so you can see what timings & PL the other bank are running too.

Depending on your ram I would also slacken the timings off till you get stable, try 5.5.5.18 or 5.6.6.18 tRFC 52 ~ 62 ish.

My 2x2 4GB kits of OCZ ram like the RCOMP, Skews & Fine delay step degree to be played with to get the best out of them but I think you need to find a few more mhz first before you need to worry about these.

My UT has been on the bench... but I think I'll put it back into rotation for a while.
Ryzen 9 on the test bench... Sometimes older generation/tech as well.

Ok I'll start from the top.
    Standard
I've lowered it sense I posted this and I've also got the CPU back to 3.7
No I don't "need" 8 but I bought it so I'm attempting to use it. (I plan on trying 2 sticks later)
I left the performance level to "auto" and that is what it turned out to be.
When I checked the other bank it matched the other one dead on.
I ordered a Q9650 today so I'm going to see what it will do as soon as it comes in. I've heard folks getting it to 4.2GHz on air...We'll have to wait and see.
