    my experience

This a fantastic motherboard, i have tried it with an i5 750 ... i'm still waiting for an i7 875k but it will be in my hands only the 2-3 september

    my experience is :

    BOOT 250BCLK
    MEMORY 2:8 1000 7-6-6-21-72-1T
    superpi 1mb --> ok
superpi 32mb --> failed with reboot at first loop

    BOOT 250BCLK
    MEMORY 2:6 750 5-5-5-18-72-1T
    superpi32mb ---> ok!!

the 2:8 works fine under cas 7 only @ 222bclk max
in the range 222-235bclk 2:8 works at cas 8
in the range 235-250 is superpi1mb stable only.

    the 2:6 work until 256bclk

    i will update scores with i7 875k
    this i5 750 is stuck at 4700MHz :O

    MODS :

OCP+VTT only for me is good

Just got my hands on passive 8600GT and seems that S3 standby problems are gone.

That's just strange, with 7900GT when resuming from S3 I could move mouse and log on to windows, I could do everything inside 5 seconds. And then BSOD.

Now, I just tried several S3 resumes and every time it worked like a charm. Problem solved, seems so.

EDIT: nope, I still occasionaly get BSOD. I could swear some backround program is doing so. Maybe setpoint. Gonna try fix that.

+1 with everyone here for the Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3 mini ITX

Playing with this mobo last night, I posted the 14th fastest 655k in superpi @ 5735.6MHz (cascade cooling)

My 655k seems to be doing fairly well so far.
I will post back with batch and further results

Has anyone tried BOINC / WCG on these boards? I'm wondering about the performance difference between the i3, i5 and i7. In the end, raw clocks don't matter to me as much as throughput.

Also, will they work with 8GB DIMMs? Gigabyte says 4GB max, but that might just be laziness on their part.

I run an 860 at stock speeds undervolted to 1.01V while running BOINC. CPU temps are 60C crunching with a corsair H50 with a SFLEX D fan (800RPM). Running at stock voltage of 1.1375 increased CPU temps by 10C. Been going for 2 weeks straight now.

8GB DIMMs? Do you mean 8GB total? or 16GB total? If it is 8GB total, then yes you can run 2x4GB dimms. The board does not support 16GB (2x8GB). I have 2x4GB (OCZ Gold 2x4GB 1333mhz) and I think it is more than enough for my system. I run win server 2008 R2 with 8 threads of HFCC for WCG, steam, skype, and firefox open at all times and I am using about 2.5GB of memory.

    How many ppd?

60C seems high for stock clocks, esp. with an H50.

8GB DIMMs, meaning 2*8=16GB total. I know Gigabyte says they only support 4GB DIMMs, but other manufacturers (for example, EVGA) have said the same thing, just because they're too lazy to test the larger sizes, and when tested, they work fine. Have you actually tried the 8GB DIMMs?

Oh, I need the RAM for other reasons, not crunching.

I never tried 8GB DIMMs personally as it is a big investment for something that might not work. I haven't heard of another mini ITX user that has 2x8GB.

Reasons for the high temps on the H50 are:
    1. 800rpm fan
    2. In a silverstone sg06

PPD is ~24500 (WCG points) based on the last 9 days of work. This is also my daily use machine.

This thread's title should be changed to Gigabyte H55N-USB3 overclocking and discussion thread!

    Anyway this is my setup:

    Processor: i5 750 @ 3,0Ghz 1.04v / 3,6Ghz 1.13v
    Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3
    Cooling: Intel stock
    Memory: 4GB OCZ Platinum XTC Low Voltage 1600MHz C7 @ 2000MHZ C8 1.70v
Video Card: nVidia 7650GS with passive cooling
Hard Disk: Intel Postville 80GB SSD / Western Digital Green 500GB
    Optical Drive: Not needed
    CRT/LCD Model: Samsung 2494HM
    Case: Lian Li PC-Q07
    Sound Card: Built in
    PSU: Nexus NX-5000 R3 530W

The stock cooler sucks so I ordered a Corsair H50, but now I think i'm going for a Thermalright AXP-140 but i'm afriad the AXP-140 won't fit in my Lian Li PC-Q07.

also we should make a list of coolers who fit on this board:

Corsair H50,fits but standard backplate need's some modding. doesn't block pci-e/ memory slots.
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus , doesn't block pci-e slot, can be hard to install when using memory with large heatspreaders
Thermalright Venomous X,apparently fits no info available on if it blocks the pci-e / memory slots.
Thermalright AXP-140, fits doesn't block pci-e/ memory slots.Perfect for using in a Lian LI PC-Q08
Scythe Shuriken, fits doesn't block pci-e/memory slots
    Prolimatech Samuel 17 , fits doesn't block pci-e / memory slots.
    Mosfets cooling with heatsicks

If you have a CPU cooler which is not in this list please reply and inform us about it!

H70 fit fine for me, and I was under the impression that it used thesame backplate as the H50

Large cooler backplates may have problems – the Corsair H50 won’t fit (due to the circled transistor).

Maybe someone could make make a picture with the Corsair H50/H70 wth standard backplate?

H50 backplate fits fine but if you want to be careful, I would trim some of the plastic so none of the nearby chips could be crushed under pressure.
    Like this:http://yfrog.com/n0p1010416j
Modding the backplate removed my ability to install it on a socket 1366 motherboard, but I don't mind since it will be staying with this system.

I think someone asked about mosfet heatsinks for underneath the board. Those silver heatsinks are 8mm high. They are from sidewinders. http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/mimi.html (black) or http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/misimi.html (silver).

I also changed my fan recently on the H50 to a Feser Triebwerk TK-121 (it was on sale for $20 so I decided what the hell). Running at full speed (~1200) while sucking air from the front of the SG06 my temps are 56-57C running at 3255mhz while running BOINC. Voltage is at 1.1V.
Pic of the fan (it is huge lol):
    http://yfrog.com/5bp1010418gj

Fan almost butts up against the memory modules with the H50 installed in the SG06.

Also, if anyone wants to change their chipset heatsink. The distance between the mounting holes (using the inner edge of the hole) is 47mm (not sure if that is how you measure it ). I changed my chipset heatsink to a Zalman ZM-NB32K chipset heatsink. I had it floating around in my drawer so I decided to use it. Hard to say if the temp difference is the heatsink or more airflow from the fan (I changed the fan and heatsink at the same time) but my chipset load temps are now 63C compared to 74C with the stock heatsink. Only issue with installing the zalman heatsink is the shape of the heatsink. It cannot be rotated since it bumps with the SATA connectors and nearby capacitors.

FYI, if you do want to reuse the H50 for 1366 and and you need a new backplate due to modifying it, you can purchase one directly from corsair. It is $0 but you have to pay for shipping (I heard it was $5).

Oops.....you're right, after removing the mobo again I did see it was not sitting level due to the mentioned obstructions fixed

Can anyone confirm OCP behavior on this board?
I think I'm hitting OCP with an i5 750 @ about 1.425V or more....does that sound about right?
The symptom is a hard lock that requires hard power off.....reset button is unresponsive.

I am building an HTPC with this board for a relative and I have been looking for the TherrmalRight AXP-140 RT and can't seem to find it anywhere, not even the non-RT version.

Anyone know who has one in stock?

also strange, is newegg doesn't even have ThermalRight products in stock at all?!? Is ThermalRight still in businesss?

i don't know if you're still there... but what were your temps on the 875K
at 4.4 (last shot) with Hyper-Threading on using the Hyper 212+???

cause i plan to drop a 875K in this ud4 with the hyper 212+ and was wondering if the cooling is enough - i figured i might be able to get it to run at something like 133x33??? or so??? which hopefully will help keep temps down...

    lemme know

    thanks

ps: and it's nice to see you did this on a board with only a 4-pin power delivery...

    very good

So has anyone tried bios f6a? What are the improvements?

I'm still gunning for 4ghz stable. 3.9 is rock solid at 1.264v in windows under load.

    Edit: trying out F6a.

I'm too curious not to try it! I've had some issues w/ F5 or maybe I'm asking too much out of the chip I have.

    Interesting....

Stock settings on this bios are 15x133 = 2ghz.

    I'll be changing that shortly!

Also, CPU clock Drive & PCI Express Clock Drive are now 700mV each. I believe it was 900mV on bios F5.

What's a good setting for this?

    Edit 2:

finally have 4ghz stable at a lower vcore than 3.9ghz.

Now i'm trying to get my ram stable.... not sure if 1600 w/ lower timings is better than 1860+ @ 9-9-9 +.

stasio posted the link. I'm using it now.

Having sever issues w/ ram right now, at least I think that's the issue.

My system will hang and I'll have to turn the PSU off. That's the only way to reboot.

Stock settings are fine. I might just have to suck it up and run only 3.9ghz

Hey, stupid question, is it better to have an even or odd multiplier? I thought with i7 x58, odd numbered multipliers were more stable. This holds true for i5s on p55/h55 boards?
