    {Project: Black and Blue}

    Hey all,

I am ready to begin and document my first worklog that I have dubbed Black and Blue and will try to follow that color scheme throughout the project. I am not completely new to watercooling but my first build was back in 2006. It's amazing how far watercooling has come in just a short time.

    Case: Corsair 800D
    Processor: Intel i7 920
    Motherboard: Rampage II Extreme
    RAM: Corsair Dominator
    Power Supply: HX1000
    Video Card: XFX 4890

Below are the parts for this project.

    Swiftech GTZ Block
    MCP655 pump
    Thermochill PA120.3
    EK-Multioption RES 250
PrimoFlex Pro LRT UV Blue Tubing - 7/16"
    Antimicrobial Silver Strip
Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120 mm Fan - 57 CFM (3)
    MDPC Sleeving

Everything else will be Bitspower fittings, adapters and GPU block.

Thanks for visiting and your support!

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to the build.

I'm thinking of using compression fittings instead of the barbs I have now. Will these work with 7/16" ID 11/16" OD Tygon tubing?

If not, will these 1/2" ID 3/4" OD compression fittings work?

I guess I jumped the gun when buying tubing without researching fittings more thoroughly.

    Welcome to XS HazChem.
In your first link to sidewinder it does state "■Compression Fitting Designed For ID 7/16" (11MM) with OD 5/8" (15.875MM)"
If you have bought 7/16" tube then this fitting is made for 7/16"

In the link to Jab-Tech, it clearly states "■Compression Fitting Designed For ID 1/2" OD 3/4".
You need 1/2" tube for these.

I know that with barbed fitting people often use 7/16" tube on 1/2" barbed fitting to get an excellent tight fit.
However with compression fitting you need to uses the same size tube as the compression fitting.
All compression fitting will state what size, both ID and OD tube will work with that fitting.
Just follow what the manufacture states, like they both have in your links.
Have you bought tube and if so what size is it?

    Thanks!

Yah, I bought 7/16" ID 11/16" OD tubing last week thinking I would continue using 1/2" barbs. I am rethinking that plan so it looks like I have a decision to make. Buy new tubing or stick with the barbs and current tubing... The 7/16" compression fitting in the first link is for thin tubing (5/8" OD) and my OD is 11/16" so that won't work.

Yesterday I ordered the sleeves from Nils at MDPC. He is a very cool guy and helped me tremendously.

While I wait for the sleeves and work on that sub-project, this will give me some time to figure out how I want to proceed with the fittings and tubing.

After looking at some of the worklogs, I am pretty sure I'll be ditching the microres for either a bay or a cylinder reservoir.

Here are some pics with taken as I was mounting the motherboard and messing around with scripts.

I've scrapped the plan to use the 7/16" ID 11/16" OD tubing I had ordered since I am going to go with compression fittings for this build. Lucky for me this lesson only cost $30 in unused tubing. (Note to self - thoroughly read and reread posts on this site before ordering... )

Instead I'm going with PrimoFlex 7/16"ID 5/8"OD Blue Tubing. I was going to use pentosin for blue coloring/anti-algae but I hated the buildup on the tubing that developed after a month. I like the idea of using distilled water with a silver strip. Much easier and cleaner.

I've ordered all the components so now I wait...

I am glad it only set you back $30 bucks, you might be able to get some back if you list it on ebay.
Looking forward to your nexrt update.

The first couple of packages arrived today.

All the way from Germany courtesy of MDPC!

I used the tool quickly on a pin and it does make it pretty easy to remove if it is inserted all the way in.

It was raining out and apparently a drop fell on the drawing. It could have been worse!

I was afraid the tubing was going to be too purplish but it is a nice deep blue that goes well with the sleeving.

A blue LED plug for the reservoir.

Why can't Thermochill standardize their fitting like all the other rad companies to 1/4" threads? I'm glad I caught this before I finalized my order and ordered the 3/8" to 1/4" adapter.

    Group photo!

While I wait for the rest of the stuff, I'll begin the sleeving. I imagine this will take me the longest.

I also found out about the 3/8" fitting on the thermo just before i purchased quite annoying isnt it and it adds a good $7 minimum to the cost of the rad for adapters GRRR!!!

    Loonym...You are missed.

    The element of one

    Breathe me in
    Breathe me in

I disbelieve in separation. I close my eyes to see you.
This is for you, everything I am. This is for you, take it from me.
I, I disbelieve separation. I close my eyes
    there's no escaping me
This is for you, everything I am. This is for you, take it from me.
In your heart in your soul. I perceive rejuvenation

Breathe me in. I am forever. Deep within I am eternal.

I will return to you. I am with you always. I will never turn away from you.

Thanks weston and GregSG! I wanted a color scheme that hadn't been done yet and still fit the theme!

I wish I had a better setup for taking pictures. I'm relying on post editing to make up for the warm lighting!!

Yah, just realized that if I want to use my PA120.2 as a second rad, I am going to buy another pair of adapters...

    Another package came today!

When I first started this project, I wasn't going to go with NB/SB cooling but when I saw Black Freezer on some of the builds, I couldn't resist.

It took me the longest to decide between the 150 and the 250. But given the size of the case, I am confident the 250 was the right pick. I did get the EK anti-cyclone and slid it on but it wasn't very snug at all. Is this how it should fit? I guess I'll find out when I fill it up and get it running.

I went with the UV Blue O-rings for fittings and the pump.

Last of the parts should be arriving tomorrow and which will give me the weekend to begin putting it together!

Really nice to see new part, I do love that dark grand blue sleeving, looks excellent.
I am not sure but that anti-cyclone part looks like it needs to go further down?

The anti-cyclone is loose, it'll be fine though once coolant is in, also, is it white? It looks white but it's meant to be clear?

Yah, I thought it should go further down but that is as far as the groove will allow it to go. But it sounds like it'll be fine. It's white only because I haven't removed the paper wrapping

    Thanks guys.

The last of the stuff arrived last night.

I didn't remember ordering any Feser Cooling Fluid!

It wasn't cooling fluid, just all my parts. I appreciate Gary at Sidewinder PC recycling boxes. Doing his part for the environment!

Had some fun with the compression fittings.

    Surrounded...

    Betrayed...

    Vanquished!

Now I need to quit goofing around and start the project!
